Database down that powers the forums is the news... doesn't say anything about SDC... GC2 + DA download and install perfectly... it's just TA that doesn't download. I'm hoping it'll be fixed tomorrow ;)
DeadDodo
The Krynn dominate my TA games... what makes them so good? Super Spy isn't exactly the most powerfull ability ;)
"Dodo's Replicating Orbital Origination Pulse" Captain: Let's DROOP that thing... :)
an expansion is a bit late at the moment, but I wish they'd make a second one.... I played that game from start to finish 5 times.... are there any mods that have a storyline??
yep, my Mobility Radeon 9200 works fine with the game... though it does slow down tremendously late game so I have to zoom out to the 2d screen EDIT: if you continue having problems, I suggest you play the game in the 2d screen, it usually solves a number of slowdown problems
I've found late game, fleets of 21 tiny fighters to be very nice. Considering every ship can only fire at one ship once per turn, you'll lose a few ships, but they'll take out a fleet of 3 large hulls easily
you've made about 6 threads in the past couple hours 4 and counting....
steam powered space ships. hmmm... the logistics of that would be horrible, since the only way to move would be by expelling steam under pressure from nozzles. That would mean you'd have to carry a lot of water for relatively little gain Interesting idea th
the updates themselves are pretty small, and I'm finished after a minute, but I've had problems with the auto-archiving, it would often take ages and would never finish, so I would suggest disabling the auto-archiving feature if you've got it on
after all the updates, a lot of the manual is outdated
I actually like being in a corner, considering I usually don't expand in a circle but more in a fan shape... so I expand in one direction mostly
do what Moosetek said, but remember that you can only build one (1) starport per planet, once you've built it then it dissapears from the building menu.
I used to give them to minors, whether I was allied to them or not. I did the same thing with my obsolete ships. Pretty soon you've got a major minor race except they don't do much, which is a pity!
I usually only upgrade ships when I'm about to be engaged in war, otherwise I'll just update the non-military ships with better engines...
alternatively if you want you can re-install the game, install the collectors edition and then install the updates...
if you get your soldiering all the way up, there's very little chance you'll lose with 4 advanced troop modules
I believe Darkrenown's post was the most informative of the lot, it confirmed what I have believed for years.
If you're trying to time it to hit the high ones, and you constantly hit the low ones, it stands to reason that if you reverse the process you're much better off. So my suggestion would be to try and get as low an advantage as possible and you'll end up with a high advantage.... makes sense doesn't it??
for those of us who don't read single letters If you're allied with the race you're attacking you need to break the alliance in the diplomacy screen. If you're not allied with them, then you can just move your ships onto the planet and it should attack, (or at least give you a warning first).
Building a factory on a research bonus isn't too bad if the planet is a manufacturing powerhouse without needing research buildings.... as long as the AI doesn't decide to place a research building somewhere else on the planet
I agree with your suggestions except the last one... planets shouldn't join an enemy just because they have the same government... because then you could (in theory) declare war on someone when you notice that 80% of their planets share your government type... and that would be a default win. Also what would happen if both you and your enemy have the same empire government?
Stardock probably does not have the authority over anyone to say they can't review games anymore
I don't even read reviews, most of the time I buy a game due to word of mouth.
so basically if I help write a manual for a 4x game I can then no longer review ANY 4x games in my entire life?? Remind me to never help write a manual!
Moving friday afternoon after work can't spoil my intrepid dedication ot my work by spending all night on IRC, now can I??
