I play small, everything common-abundant, star systems scattered, and tech very fast. My empire is high tax/low pop., so i usually build 2 entertainment centers (or 1 VR center) per planet, no farms. My planets are diversified, except for a few capitals, which are always high PQ planets (15+), unless a small planet has an insane numebr of bonus tiles. My planets usually have 2-4 factories, depending on size, 1-3 labs, 1-2 entertainment centers (or 1 VR
Make your own.
Try a more recent sound card driver. that can cause problems too. I'm definitely NOT a IT expert, but since you got the blue screen of death, it might be a Windows problem.
As long as their are no "nukes" i'm happy. I found the nukes in the Civ games too powerful, and basically won the game for people.
I'd rather they kept it simple. A litte slider under the espionage spending called "counter-espionage spending" is good enough for me. EG: Drengin spend 80bc spying you. You spend 60bc on counter-espioage. Drengin only get 20bc of espionage. Nice and simple.
The game tries to keep you from playing at too lwo of a rez because (i believe) the UI gets screwy at low resolutions.
How can you type moral 27,000 times in a 500 word post about morale?
Suggestion: play with planets at rare or uncommon.
i don't know why you don't just go for a research victory.
I would suggest NO custom ships in multi-player games. Use predesigned ships. It'd speed things up a lot AND it'd force Stardock t omake better core ships. I don't know why you'd bother with MP anway. The other guy will probably d/c by the first year anyway.
#1 Yes, it is by design. But it doesn't automatically set it to 1%. I've managed to get to 96% tax before hitting 1%, thanks to my starting morale bonuses, low population (i only had 3 planets with farms, all of which were under 15 billion pop.), and 3 fully developed morale mining starbases.
No siree. Maybe you mean PIII2Ghz? A debug.err would be useful. Just to get this out of the way, Update to the latest driver you can find. Your current driver may not siport DX9, which this game uses.
I find that bug more or less useless. When you reach the end of the tech tree (i play with techs at very fast) IT becomes VERY expensive to completely fill up your ship with state of the art stuff (because of all the minaturization bonuses). I wouldn't be surpirsed if a fully loaded colony ship cost 400+ BC.
i find that i almost never get 'em and i always play witha a lucky attribute.
The chart at the very bottom tells you how many farms of various types you would need to support a given planet at it's max pop.
I think it's a bad idea. Why? PQ measures how much of the planet you can use to BUILD. it doesn't matter if it's a Torian or Human, they won't be able to build on say, a gas giant. And it makes teh game much more complicated. Simple > complicated
debug.err PLEASE. And you must upgrade to 1.0x IT will fix a lot of problems. DOn't complain if you don't want to update to the latest non-beta patch. Your page file may be too low. You need at least 1.5 gig of it.
The more programs you have, the more high-tech your comp is, the more likely you'll have problems. Remember, that guy had 100s of game on his computer. All you need is for one of them to go wrong, and your computer can malfunction. Plus, the guy was unfortunate enough to install a Ubisoft PC game, all of which use Starforce. It's not very hard to maintain a computer when all you have on it is Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, a firewall, and an anti
is video card throttling on? cause your card might be overheating from all the fps you're getting out of that
Good: Better relations with good and neutral civs, defense techs, people more likely to surrender to you. Neutral: Better trade, best research improvement, get money from other neutral (or maybe all) civ's tourism money, free instan terraforming. Evil: weapon techs, 1 bc for every turn a trade route that isn't yours goes through your territory. everyone hates/doesn't trust you. This is just some of the bonuses (and disadvantages) y
I frankly have had only 2 problems so far when playing the game. I've had 1 CTD on one of the beta versions (it was a save from 1.0x though that probably resulted from me runnign out of virtual memory. My other problem was the audio skipping in the tutorials which is easily fixed by setting the video to fullscreen. This is probably one of the games i''ve had the feest problems with. But that doesn't mean you can't be part of th 2.5% that does get probl
you can also go back to an older non-beta build by just running that patch. You'll go back to 1.0x.
There are some super/galacitc planet improvements that increase miniaturization. Also, eac hrace has it's own minaturization bonus, so that will contribute as well.
that's a big boost. Halve that and it'd be a good idea, IMO.
