When you make a custom opponent you get to pick the type of AI it uses. While I understand the difference between the races in their backgrounds, I'm not sure how that translates to the different kinds of AI. For instance, I imagine the Korx to be arms dealers, but I don't know if the Korx AI makes them act that way in game. If I wanted an aggressive AI, I don't really know what the differences between the Drengin and Yor are. Can any modders here give a quick run down on the diff

If I'm going to sell some ships to the AI I rename them to something like "we suck" or "cannon fodder". I get a chuckle when the AI sends them at me later, and it lets me see where the AI has been sending my ships and what effect my trade had on them throughout the game. :)

Wow, has this bug been there since DL? Great find there. This should toughen up the AI a treat!

The last time I had this event I lost half my worlds. I only had 4 high PQ planets anyway. The rest were low-PQ econ planets that I backfilled or flipped. I ended up with 1 or 4 high production worlds left. It was a pain in the butt, but also very enjoyable. I made peace with my enemy (I even had to give him several great techs to do it), and concentrated on building up my forces. Then I started taking back my worlds one at a time. Eventually, I did it. I even got some of the ones they

This was presented in my favourite style. I don't do story AAR's, and some of the play example AAR's are too heavy on the numbers. I've never played Thalans myself, so thanks for posting this.

I'm surprised that display bug is still there. Didn't people bring this up when Dark Avatar came out? Anyway, good work. I can't wait to see what comes next!

I agree. Now that I've tasted Dark Avatar, I can't go back and enjoy Dread Lords. I'm not beta testing Twilight of the Arnor, but even the look of it makes me feel unsatisfied with what I've already got. By the way TotA is the 2nd and last expansion pack, so you won't need to buy millions. :p

What I would most like to see in the game are borders that actually matter. The only argument I've seen against this is that "its space - its hard to enforce". That's not the point. Its more like the space under your influence is officially recognised as being under your control, and other races just agree not to violate it (unless at war, or with a right of passage treaty). The same thing happens on Earth. Very few borders are watched 24/7 and have walls/fences. Look

Some of these ideas are ok, but some are truly horrible (going back to the old GC1 style star systems? letting the AI take over your empire!?).
Sigh on the no new expansions, this means the one thing I wanted fixed/changed won't happen now.
But that just means they can finish their other projects faster, so they can get cracking on GC3. ;)

I'm not that keen on the idea. Sure, it would be an idea to squeeze all the data into a single "sitrep" (MOO3 did something right!!?) but I don't like the idea of making the info expandable. It still involves too many clicks if you ask me. If you've been to the Sims 2 forums you'll know what I mean. It would be much better to put all the reports in one window, but just list them with a scroll bar so we can whizz down and keep our eye out for anything relevant.

I thought of a few more questions after going over my expenses: The cost of my social production to my empire is 13bc. I'm assuming this is the social production I'm using on Toria (minus the 20% bonus) which is 13.2 units of production. Toria IV costs nothing because the social production isn't in use. Am I right so far? The research for both colonies is 14bc (10.8bc from Toria - minus the 10% bonus- and 4bc from Toria IV). The fraction is dropped I take it. Correct?

I've played this game for a long time, however I'm very lazy and spend most of my time hovering around Tough and couple of difficulties higher. Normally I just "wing it", and don't put a lot of thought into the numbers that various screens are throwing at me. I want to change all that though, and take the game more seriously, so I sat down earlier with the intention of paying more attention to my civilization's economy. This is where I'm a bit puzzled. I don't know which bonuses apply to

With tactical battles my games would take even longer to complete than they do now. I would probably play with this option turned off (if possible). I don't know if anyone's played Star Fleet Battles (tabletop Star Trek battle game), but maybe Stardock can make something similar for Galactic Civilizations before they work on GC3? In the Star Fleet game everyone has points to spend on their fleet, and then those fleets go head to head to see who wins (with a variety of scenario'
I just wish that an historical background of races is implemented in the game, because it really helps enjoying more gc2.
Yeah, that would be great, but I'm sure the unique tech trees and improvements in TA will help with that. In Civilization when you look at an enemy city you can almost see the people wandering around and doing their thing. The Civilopedia helps too if you don't know much about those civilizations. I like the fact that some of the speech is cha
I like em Other than the starbase initial construction one that is so blurred you can hardly make out what it is LOL
Don't get me wrong, most of them are ok. I was mostly referring to the end game movies because they're a bit boring, that's all. I got the alliance one last night, and it just doesn't feel like a big enough reward for the effort put in for winning. Some coloured ships land on a planet and then there are fireworks? The end game movies should be much more ep

Nice to see how things are moving. Funny how little things can slip under the radar. My, that's an awful lot of anomalies in that last screenshot.
