Quoting Evil Muppet, reply 96 Oh god yes. Anything to prevent constructor spam. Unfortunately that would just turn constructor spam into base spam (which is just as big a problem now if not more so). I like the idea but it'd need to have some other dependency "cost" for actually building structures.
I don't see why it should. There are already limits on how m

If I have to pick one I'll be going with Elemental, for the simple reason that Stardock tries to support the average user, while Civ 5 will likely require me to upgrade my PC. If by some miracle Firaxis has designed Civ 5 to work on less powerful systems I'll try to get both, but Elemental will be my priority. I think that kind of attention to ordinary users should be rewarded.
Wow Frogboy! I'm almost hesitant to add to this enormous pile, but I do have one request. I'm not a beginner, and it bugs me that in every game I have to go and set my production slider to 100%. It would be nice if there were menu options controlling the default positions for all of the domestic screen sliders. That would be sweet!
1. Change the way the techs work. At the moment it feels like 90% of techs have an effect that just adds some arbitrary percentage to a score/attribute, so it feels more like a grind and less like finding a cool new thing. No more "+10% fertility" or "slightly better laser gun" technologies. Have them do things that are distinct, interesting, and have a clear effect on the game. 2. Connected to the above, remove all the fiddly little "las
EVE sucks. I paid for one month before the novelty wore off, and realised that if it weren't for the multiplayer it would be strictly inferior to Elite - a game which came out more than quarter of a century ago. Sure the graphics are pretty, but its a simple point and click game in which you juggle numbers, a bit like Excel in space. I heard that someone is working on a multiplayer game where you actually get to fly the ships manually, but I don't know the name offhand. Maybe one day the
Any plans to fix terror stars? They're just so boring compared to spore ships when you take into account the time to research and build, and the slow movement speed. The worst part is when after destroying a star, the terror star is drawn on the wrong tile. After moving my ships back to protect the terror star, I was shocked to see an enemy fleet zoom in and destroy it in the empty tile next to me.
The thing is, if you don't even try to combat piracy, it'll be seen to be socially acceptable, and then more people will do it. The only thing that will reduce piracy is an attitude shift, but sadly there are too many people set in their ways - it would take a long time. Young people are the ones to go after, before they're exposed to too much pirate BS and propaganda.
Just something I made for fun when I was playing as the Korx... http://h1.ripway.com/Newbunkle/ChildsBicycle.zip
Yeah, just install it. Impulse is a pretty neat program actually. I'm happy to use it for patches, though I love buying games on disk, so that's the only reason I use it.
Ten Copyright Myths: http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html Just thought I'd post this because its useful.
If you're working on a new update, there's a couple of things that I keep wishing for: - A way to clear a ship design or race's description text with one click. If you have a lot of text, its frustrating to hold down the delete button for what seems like ages. - The slider in the ship builder only works if the pointer hovers over it. This means if you're browsing extras and the pointer drifts off the slider, it stops moving (plus that's a very narrow slider!). It would be awes
I'm glad these guys got jail time. Everyone has the right to profit from their creations. It doesn't matter if its only a copy, its still immoral to take the product of someone's hard work and creativity without their permission. The ability for a person to make a living out of doing something creative is heavily dependant on copyright, and to violate that is to actively attempt to deprive someone of that ability. Its an awful thing to do to someone and if these guys were doing that, bragging
I don't have access to a computer capable of running GC2 at the moment, so I can't test it. There was something I suggested for another update that I didn't see make it in, and if its not in v2.0 I really hope it can be added. My suggestion was this: You know when you're making a custom race or upgrading a core ship design and you get that box full of text for the description? You have to hold down the delete key for AGES to clear it. Please please please add a small button that clear
You know, if they're going to stick with the constructor spam, they could at least add some features to help out. Here are my suggestions: - Allow the creation of starbase module build queues in the preferences (one per "type" of starbase) - Add an option for automatic upgrade: on (all modules), on ("free" modules only), off (always ask for permission). In theory, this should allow constructors reaching a starbase to complete it as you have specified without interrupti
Yes, but the definition of "better" is up for debate. For example, I would prefer that they not have combat visualization at all; just tell me who won, who lost, and how much damage the looser took. They took that out because it was incredibly tedious. Screw realism; I want playability.
Amen! Any changes to the combat system (tactical battles, tactical ground ivnasions, etc.) need to come with a toggle in the menu so we can disable it. Gameplay > realism.
One thing I've never tried (and I'm not even sure if it would work), is equipping a colony ship and a constructor with survey modules, fleeting them, and moving them into a wormhole. Have the constructor make a starbase on the other side to provide life support for the colony ship, and then start colonizing your new region of space. =P One thing we need is better Terror Stars. I've never needed to make any, and last night I decided to go for one just to try it out. It took AGES to resea
Urgh, please not 3d maps. I don't think it would enrich the game very much, and the extra UI complexity wouldn't be worth it. How would it know which "level" I'm clicking on to move my ship? Would it just be several flat maps on top of each other? Something I suggested a while ago was the ability to design alien races in the same way we design ships. I imagined bolting body parts to hard points at the time, but nwo that I've had a go at Spore I think it could be done much better. Just
Aye. Freedom makes the difference between living and surviving.
I haven't encountered the issue with inflated tech costs either (or at least I don't think I have). I played a Standard map on Challenging with the Terran Alliance when I first downloaded TA. My economy was fine, and the techs kept coming at a reasonable rate. I got stuck with Earth and Mars in the beginning, and only got a 3rd planet later when I was the first to get the right terraforming tech. I went for an ascension victory, which means the other races hated my guts. I kept selling techs to
Another thing I'd like: an option to choose the proportion of extreme environment planets when setting up a game. One slider that would add a ton of gameplay variety IMO.
I second this too! I couldn't edit my previous post for some reason.
Its still annoying having to make so many constructors to build up starbases, so I almost never bother with them. It might put me at a disadvantage, but I'm willing to take it to avoid the extra micro. The only ones I do build are to nab resources so the AI doesn't get them. Also, when you upgrade a ship with description text, you have to hold down delete for a while to clear the box. Can't we just have a button that empties it of text for us? I like the idea of a random race
Hmm, its better than Steam, but it doesn't interest me very much. I prefer to get my games from a store and have the disc. Sometimes I'm without any connection at all, and large programs take a long time to download anyway. It wouldn't be much good for me. It would definitely make a difference in my choice of purchases. I'd probably get a different product because it happens to be in a store.
Sadly, the only "priorities" pirates have is to steal from hard working people, and whine and cry about the prices of completely unnecessary products, as if they're hard done by.
I suspect its temporary. The General forum was invisible for a time the other day.
I propose mutual destruction. Shall we take a vote?
