On several occasions, one or more ship designs have become invisible as they are constructed. They exist and can be moved, but cannot be seen. Even the icon of them in the list of constructed ships is blank. Each time the design has been of a Constructor type. To make them visible again, I have had to quit the game, restart and reload it.

I was going to post this topic myself today. I, too, encountered the plague, researced the cure and conquered the galaxy as all other populations dwindled. None of the other civ's researched the cure or offered to trade for it from me (not that I would have given it up). Perhaps based on a civ's diplomacy or tech level, the AI could decide to research or trade for it, or both. And how does one steal technology in this version?
Kryo, you saved the day. My version of SDC was 120. By updating to 139, Dark Avatar now appears in the Product list and allows installation. I AM HAPPY! It would be nice if SDC would check to update itself besides other programs.
Thanks for all the assistance. Under Purchased Software at SDC, I now see an option to Install Dark Avatar, but it won't install - it just times out. Also, in the drop down list under Register Products, DA still does not appear. I have now emailed SDC directly asking for assistance.
I pre-ordered Dark Avatar long ago and now have a S/N for it, but where can it be downloaded? I went to Star Dock Central to check for updates, listings, registrations, anything for this game, but don't see it. I read in one post that it must be registered at SDC in order for the beta to become available to me, but DA is not in the list. Help, please! I'm anxious for this game.
Nice postings! I've admired that song and it's singer all along. Thankyou for the lyrics.
To make an alliance, I presume that the AI players need to have researched alliances as well as me. As each game progresses and I communicate with other players, I keep looking for an option to propose an alliance, but I never see it. I must be overlooking it somewhere, but where?
At the start of every game, I see that putting the flagship in auto-survey mode allows it to go to anomalies that are out of sight on the screen. If the screen shows all that the ship sensors detect, this doesn't seem right. I don't use auto-survey when I want to explore the map and make it visible to me, but this gives the AI players time to gobble-up most of the anomalies since they seem to go straight for them. Quite an unfair advantage! I know
Please disregard the above post. It was my mistake for posting it a second time. Thanks to all who replied to the first post.
Can anyone tell me what screen capture program(s) work with this game? I've tried several shareware programs, but none of them are good at capturing game screens.
Can anyone please tell me what screen capture program(s) works with this game? I've tried several shareware programs (Yes, I want to see that it works before buying something.), but none were satisfactory with games.
