My main worry is that the story would be totally wrong. Often while playing the game I will get the message; Such and such is trying to get along with everyone, for example they are currently researching laser V/planetry invasion/blatanty not peaceful tech. However if you could make an accurate report of what actually happened it would be great.

We know how brutal Ghengis Kahn was but I've never heard him called evil. Stalin didn't win, we're still a capitalist society. In fact the only "winner" at the moment (assuming you live in Europe/America) is western society (Bush/Blair in the short term) every other society has lost at some point. The truth only comes out when one society "loses" (be it culturally, military might, superior technology or by alliegence <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gi

Military and social area both determined by faxtories so it makes sense for them to be linked and I guess they linked the research one as well to make the system less complicated. I'll agree it's annoying though.

I think that there are three main reasons why the ai miscalculates military might; 1) The ai rarely attacks first (even with slower ships I can usually predict where the ai will go and then position my ships accordingly) and so is at a big disadvantage. 2) Huge numbers of ai ships sit on planets doing nothing, their attacking fleet is usually only a very small proportion of their might. This means you can take their ships out at your leisure. 3)They usually don't have big fleets.

I think it's all too easy to choose to be a good race and then choose the evil options. If you started out as good the evil choices you make have no effect on your alignment, you will be pulled towards neutral but always remain good thus always getting all the benefits of both good and evil. Surely corrupting a good race into evil ways should not be rewarded quite as much? If you're on a small galaxy or there are few events then you can choose all the evil ones all the time but if y

Will there ever be a special building that allows the defenders of a planet fire first? If there was a building like that then the planetry defence buildings would be worth building, as it is you're better off making a fleet in space so that you can attack first and building much more useful buildings on your planets. If you stay on defence you're resigning yourself to being attacked first and that usually cancels out the advantages of the buildings on your planet.

Are there any plans to expand the system so the player with the initiative gets to choose how to attack, I don't mind not being able to control ships but I'd like a bit of choice when attacking (similar to the planet invasion options). eg Option 1: Go in with all guns blazing, first attack but -20% defence Option 2: Adopt defensive formation, +20% defence but fire alternately (with left over ships firing at the end) Option 3: Find

How do you communicate? Don't you need the universal translator to talk to the other races? Does the ai need the universal translator to communicate with the other players? I've had the drengin demand the universal translator in return for not attacking so probably not...

I'd support the idea of having a tougher setting for the ai that took more time for it to take turns, maybe you could limit it so that it can only be used on medium or smaller galaxies. I love the idea that I'm actually competing with an ai on equal settings but at the moment intelligent is just a bit too easy. Also, I was playing a game on a gigantic galaxy and I was just about to declare war on the Korx so I began parking transp

Does anyone even use the tiny hull size? I've never found a use for it but maybe that's just me. I'd like to seemore uses for tiny hulls and smaller hulls in the late game but I don't have any good suggestions as to how. Another thing that puzzles me is that the weapon sizes increase as the hull size increases, why is this? Surely a missile launcher takes the same ammount of room whatever hull it is put on.

I believe that their aim is for the ai to be able to beat 95% of people without cheating, if you're in the top 5% then you'll have to stick with letting the ai cheat. Like people have said, it is just an ai. Compare it to the recent chess ais, after over 20 years and millions of pounds being spent we are only just developing computer programs that can beat the best humans, what chance do Stardock have?

Woo! I hated that, and in beta 3 it's fixed! Excellent They should have their own UP. Are you sure, does that mean it is possible to be in two UP cou

A few things: 1) I see that in the beta the tax gained from a planet goes up much less for a higher population, does this mean that farms will become much less valued and the farming bonus tiles will become much less wanted. 2) What was the ai optimised for, it manages to do very well on very diverse settings however I can beat it fairly handily on medium map size with 4 opponents (on intelligent) do they need more space to flourish?<br

A couple of bugs present in 1.0X and not on the beta fixed list; 1) If you choose the increased planetry quality for your race in the abilities section the bonuses only properly apply to your home planet. This will get two extra tiles, if you then colonise a planet the planet will say that it is better quality but you will only get the number of tiles thaty you would ordinarily get. To reproduce this bug choose better planet quality in

I think it would be nice to have the option to turn this off. Also I would really like to be able to upgrade the core types as some of them look good but I never use them as I prefer to put whatever components I like on. However I think there is special rules for the core ships, the colony ships have two colony modules, but only one functional one.

I would really like the class 0 planets to do something, maybe have a super terraforming tech that allows you to colonise class 0 planets and make them into class 4-5 or something. That said I like the idea of classing them as anomolies and then exploring them.

Ok, I've just read your argument for having social spending money not added back to the treasury, it's a decent argument however I do find the money wasted one of the mosty annoying things in the game. It is especially annoying when I'm struggling to make ends meet and the planet I have designated as a starship building planet has 40 bc being wasted on social production each turn (despite being focused on military). I could tone down the social produ

What I'd like to see; More tooltips. At the moment there are very few tooltips so I'm making quite a lot of my decisions in the dark especially in the beginning. I think that a few more tooltips would help newer players get into the game and reduce the flaming due to people not understanding why certain things happen. Ship design accessible from the menu with all techs available. Sometimes I love to design really cool ships without having

I've just completed the siege mission, I didn't find it that hard. I went with rushing to colonise the three planets on the way to the dreadlord planet and then getting logistics techs and building lots of fleets of tiny fighters and then overcoming any ships the the dreadlords sent by sheer numbers. Having 40 attack doesn't matter one bit if you destroy the ship before it can fire, alternatively the overkill was so great that you would only lose a c

I've just got this game and I've got a couple of questions; 1) When I build a Starbase what does it effect? Does it add to the global production/research/etc values or does it only affect planets within a certain radius. If it only affects planets within a certain radius why does the ai always rush to claim resources that are nowhere near any of it's planets. 2) When I create a new galaxy, is it balanced in any way or is it just completely random, I've had a couple of times when I'v
