A trade routes value increases or decreases based on how far away from the route's point of origin the freighter is. So, if a freighter is very near your planet route value goes down, but when its very far away, almost at its destination... the route will be worth a lot. This doesn't affect the trade routes average value, but it does mean that a route will fluctuate as the ship moves back and forth.

I have to say, most of the fans of this game are really jerks. This guy is just expressing some frustration 'cause he is missing out on what is a good game. He even said that he acknowledges that Stardock has put a lot of effort into it and he respects that, but what kind of people are you that you have to just lambast him for not knowing everything about computers. Everyone complains about "these kinds of posts" but seriously, I'm more annoyed with the surplus of replies flamming
Yah, yah, i know the DG crowd loves MoO2, but this is a pretty sweet game and I was wondering how many of you on this message board I might know from my DG days. If you're confused, DG is a online MMO turn based space strategy, and sucked up the better part of two years of my life. So? Anyone out there? DGers might remember me as tyrion from GSF and Galgen. Speak out!
The only bug I've noticed, and it's been happening ALOT, is that when I create a new ship and it is set to autolaunch to a rally point it doesnt show on the map until it's moved. For instance if I have a new transport created and it launches and I go to the planet that launched it, I just won't see anything. If I know what square it should be in I can click it and it becomes visible, but otherwise it doesn't show up for a turn.
I'm getting really frustrated with my AI teammates in the campaign mode. They don't seem to do much research, build much military or really do anything that is useful. Especially frustrating is that the only thing they have seem to have that I need, Enhanced Logistics" they won't trade to me. I've offered them 4 techs of mine, all of which are similarly advanced to Logistics, all my cash and all my influence points and they won't budge. I mean, sho
I'm curious, does this work in reverse? If I were buying tech from the AI would they give me a 'discount' for buying multiple techs at once, or does it only work when they are the buyer? Anyone know, maybe I'll check it out when I get off work.
Hmm, I've been playing for a couple weeks now and I havent seen this happen. Does the AI seek alliances to bolster it's strategy? I've never been approached by the AI with an offer, occassionally they'll give me gifts, but never enough to get our ratings close enough. Also, though I'm not sure it hasn't happen, I haven't noticed the AI allying with each other. Anyone else's observations? I'm curious abou this.
Aw man, I so badly wanted a Bridge Commander 2. I played that game so much that the phasers key on my keyboard eventually gave out. I'd settle for another Freelance game too. I'm sure there'll be another game like that at somepoint. right? please say yes!
Yah, it says when you start the route that the freighter will give more credits the further away it is and less the closer it is.... generally though your freighters will be staggered enough not to fluctuate your overall income too much one way or the other.
He said he was playing on normal. That's interesting... I don't know if I've quite seen that happen. In several games I've noticed that the computer will ignore some pretty decent planets near its homeworld. Once there was a planet not 6pc away from the Iconian homeworld of class 9 that they just didn't colonize... probably more than 60 turns into the game! Maybe it just overlooks them sometimes and then switches to another mode of strategy. Who
I was thinking after viewing some of the pictures of user created ships on this forum, how cool it would be to have access to the ship designer outside of the game. Just a little stand alone app that would allow you to design ships and save them for use in the game... better yet, with some sort of manager for already created designs. It would be nice to be able to have a whole range of ships that I could just create outside the game and have availabl
Thanks, they've installed without any issues, now just to test it out with the game Do you happen to know a way to change the video memory buffer through the omega drivers? It's set at 64MB right now, which is where I usually have it, but occassionally I turn it up to 128, or do I need to go through the BIOS now?
Hey there galciv2 community. I'm hoping someone out there can help me with an issue. I'm running the game on my laptop, a Toshiba A75-S209 with an ATI Mobility 9000 IGP graphics card. The problem is the display drivers that Toshiba offers are almost two years old and I can't find any drivers that will work with my system. The ATI Mobility drivers that ATI offers say they are incompatible with my system. I can run the game, but choppily and with
I think I may be in an interesting situation. The game does crash on me randomly, and I know why, but there is seemingly nothing I can do about it. My video drivers are 2 years old and there are no updates. I'm using an integrated ATI Mobility 9000 IGP on a Toshiba laptop and the most recent drivers I can find are dated September 2004. I've tried installing the newer ATI catalyst drivers for Mobility cards but they all cause errors with my system.
Oh yes, please give us an option to throttle framerate. I play exclusively on my laptop and I have a lot of problems with both battery and overheating. I have to run the game with my processor set to mid power to keep it from overheating and shutting down and would love to have the option to run at full speed and not worry about random shut down. You deserve much applause. I am very impressed with the GC2 development team, very impressed.
Most of these were probably posted already, but I'd like to second them (or more). 1. I would like to see some sort of value for tech, not because I want it to be harder to trade techs, but so that I can judge what I can get from the AI for what I'm offering. 2. Tool tips on the tech tree. Just a little mouseover display to tell me what the tech does. I hate the switching back and forth to the big and small views. 3. Zoomable tech tree. 4. It wou
