mmhhh.. I think we all have an idea what we think the AI should do, but reading all the posts here, it seems the AI is doing fine with certain weakness/strengths at different times of the game (except maybe for all races choosing the same weapon thing). The real question is how do they play throughout the entire game, that picking up little things. Maybe their strategies do work during that period. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

You really need to do smaller patches that can be released often cause the wait is killing me!!! I'm sure my blood pressure rises everytime you say that it 'will be out next week'!
This has been requested a few times through various threads (if you do a search). It will be nice to be able to specify our own map size. Don't know where to send request or even if the dev can acknowledge it is something we want and whether it is implementable.
Entering into an alliance: - the most important reason is to allow you to win an Alliance Victory - closest relationship so you should be able to trade better and they are nicer towards you - when going to war there is a chance that they will too with your enemy, however it is not obligated to do so. the reverse is also true, if your ally goes to war, then you have the option to follow The alliance is slight flawed IMO,
The graphics, believe it or not, are "teh uber". They use EVERY option they get, and go past 100 degrees. It's the graphics card, not the game itself. Although mine ocassionally overheats (after > 4 hrs with 1.0X), I find it ridiculous that graphic card companies would release hardware that can overh
Yes, defence rolls are from 0 to 10 so that you would never get a inifite loop cycle. This does kind of bring down the value of defence since you can always still be hurt even with very high defence.
Capitals do not produce anything, so they are useless on bonus tiles.
I don't see the poll at all! Not in IE nor in Firefox? Where is it I can't exactly remember how I found GalCiv2, but it was all over the internet so I checked it out.
I'm interested too.
As I mentioned in other posts, the ONLY reason to enter an alliance is to win via the alliance victory. The reason is that there is no way to protect other allies starbases, planets etc. The AI will never come to your aid either, and its difficult to go to their aid. There is something majorly wrong with the alliance option and is probably one of the
They get enough muppets complaining that the "game crashes" or "runs too slow", and when you get them to post their debug files, you can see they are trying to run the game on bare minimum spec PCs or laptops with integrated graphics cards. I'd like to defend those muppets. <img src="http://images.sta
Because you have a presence there. There are people working in the mining/starbases, and other alien culture can be 'influence' by your culture just by being there.
I requested this a few weeks again on the same topic - I don't see why we can't specify our own map size instead of 4 fixed sizes.
er... when it does what - what does it do?
IMO, there's no point upgrading your flag ship. Once you get medium hull, just build a new flagship cause it's cheaper than upgrading (although slower). Then decominssion your current flag ship.
I agree with this. I think Minor races overall are very good addition to the game, they can be valuable trading partners. I wish they were more valuable military partners though. You can ally with them and give them lots of ships. Althou
The problem with minor races, is that they are random and can change the dynamic of the game if they start acting like majors. For example, a 2 race game could suddenly be a 4 race game (2 minors) when they start conquering and attacking. Since minors can popup mid to late game, it would you can have an endless stream of races to deal with. Currently, the system doesn't take into account of minors for winning. So if a minor has taken over 90
So, is it better to build a farm over an economy structure unless you have morale issues?
I was thinking that perhaps we should put a condition in the "Culture Conquest" victory that says "If you've DEFEATED any race, or gone to war with more than half of the other races, then the culture victory will no longer be an option". This way, you have to focus on Cultural Comination, and not just stumble upon it as you invad
I've always maintaied a 1:1 ratio mainly because an upgraded Entertainment always compensate for an upgraded farm. The only time when this model isn't necessary is when you have a morale bonus (via racial or resources), or the late game when there's a possiblility of winning, morale is naturally high.
Just wondering... If for every farm structure, you should have at least 1 entertainment structure (to keep morale up), is it better to build a economic structure instead? How about an economic captical?
You get Psionic quicker (and Nanoripper even quicker). They're just options until you research Doom Rays. I don't see what's wrong in using some Nanoripper/Psionic on a flag ship until then.
Yes, don't build a manufacturing capital on that square as it has no effect. Capital improves the overall manufacturing rate of the whole planet, but it doesn't do any manufacturing itself. BTW, when did the english language started using 'evar' as a proper word!!!
I ALWAYS send colony ships into galaxy cluster. I hardly every used my flagship (except for retrieving anomalies) or build a scout. For the first few turns I only rush-build colony ships, then I send them out blind to ANY star system in the vincity. If I don't have 'stellar cartography', I would research this first with a research spending of 80%. I expect the AI to do the same otherwise it will be slow. The drawback to this is sometimes, yo
Or do you no longer get these moral choices after its been researched? I don't think you get a choice after that - they should be auto picked. Something to add to the previously list: Sometimes, an event would cause planets of evil races to rebel to another race.
