Farm vs Ecomic Structure

to make more money

Just wondering...

If for every farm structure, you should have at least 1 entertainment structure (to keep morale up), is it better to build a economic structure instead?
How about an economic captical?

I wouldnt bother with an entertainment structure for every farm. Instead you can research the entertainment tree and get global bonus, which is better. This will balance out the problems of the lower morale. You dont have to have your population at 90% all the time. Many times i run with them at as low as 70% or 60%

Only if you have a planet which is a real problem do you need to build a few entertainment points.

I was under the impression that the higher the morale, the faster the population increased. With that in mind, I've always kept the 1:1 Farm to Entertainment model going.

I hear that in 1.1 it's kinda important to have good morale (80+) to get your population to grow
but I haven't played that version so I don't know

I've always maintaied a 1:1 ratio mainly because an upgraded Entertainment always compensate for an upgraded farm.

The only time when this model isn't necessary is when you have a morale bonus (via racial or resources), or the late game when there's a possiblility of winning, morale is naturally high.

you can scale back on entertainment stuff as you get to the point where you can add stock markets (or whatever the top +economy building is) since they add +10% morale on top of the +economy. Also morale mining starbases are pretty awsome things to have.

So, is it better to build a farm over an economy structure unless you have morale issues?

AFAIK, the only way morale affects population growth is if you have 100% morale. At that point, you get a double in population growth for that planet only. I really only find this usefull at the very beginning of the game, where I need my colonies to grow quickly, so I set my taxes really low until my starting funds dry up, at which point I revert back to 35-49% taxes and only attempt to maintain morale above 45%. Note that if a planet's morale drops below 40%, growth is completely halted...

IIRC you get 100% growth bonus for 100% morale, 25% for 75% to 99% morale, -50% if your morale drops below 50, and -100% below 40, and if your morale drops below 35 you start loosing pop.
From 1.1 normal pop growth is "only" 3%/week so it takes a loong time to grow a colony from 500M to 5B

There is a cap of +100M/planet this number is modified by your growth-bonuses. So if you have 100% morale on a planet the max growth-rate is 200M/week, modified by any racial growth modifiers.

Moral is a modifier of your pop growth.Listen to Martin
