Uhhh, my original post clearly states that I'm speaking of the campaign and my ALLIES. I'd say that counts as very good terms with them.

Hrm, perhaps I'm not focusing enough on diplomacy.
I *swear* I already posted this, and I've given it like 30 minutes to compensate for their forum delay, so here goes again. I think the AI could be tweaked for the campaign purposes. In a sandbox game, with ever shifting alliances it makes sense for the AI to hedge his bets and not trade his most powerful weapons with me, even if he is allied with me as I could break the alliance and use them against him. In the campaign, when the Dread Lo
Then your game was bugged or those were resources and not anomolies, BladeVenom. Frogboy has already stated at least once that 'auto survey' will find all anomolies on the map as they couldn't turn off the AI knowing where they were, I think. I'm not 100% on that one, but I do know that every map at the start I'll turn on auto-survey and after my ship has explored pretty much the full map (beelining from one anomoly to another that I've never come ne
I think you shouldnt have a clue what weapons/defenses a ship has got without having spent the funds on infiltrating that race - the weapons/defenses when clicking a ship would just be a question mark. My favorite ability is being able to click on an enemy ship and seeing where they're headed! I've g
Hrm. Anyone ever try making a freighter, then taking it to orbit another world, then to a friendly world? I haven't, am curious if this would create the trade route between those two.
Hmmmm. By 'the only player' I'm assuming you mean 'the only player whomping you around'? Well, that still doesn't work. I've got the Drengin and Yor that are 'unaligned' in that mission and I have to beat up on them along with the Dread Lords. Now my CURRENT mission (the one after seige, I think. I'm so confused) where I have 3 allies and the Dread Lords are the only baddies then you could say 'the only player'.
Does this make the difficulty go down as you do this repeatedly? I had issues w/seige until I took some advice from people on the forums and beat it last night. I went to go on to the next mission and noticed my difficulty was set to 'cakewalk'. Tell me I didn't finally beat that stupid Seige mission because the difficulty went down. I put i back to normal for the next mission, but I'm hoping I didn't get 'cheated' on the previous mission.
All I see is Martimus... Read much? He said he renamed the odd name he found.
I initially thought this was a bug with the 'wormhole' anomoly as the first two times I saw it in action was when my survey ship found a wormhole. However, I realized that it was not just wormholes when I had a mining starbase destroyed and I did not lose the sensors there, either. I had upgraded that one fairly well as it was on my perimeter and I still enjoyed the sights as if I had the base there.
Is this a problem with my game only, or does no one else want this bug known/fixed?
People that want realism in a game where you're shooting bugs with lasers in spaceships make me laugh.
It's not that they don't send escorts, it is that they design escorts with half the speed and pitiful weapons that arrive in the sector a few turns after you blew up their transports.
The disapering cursor problem seems to slow me down. I had issues with that, as well. Are you running a GeForce 6x00 series card? I've got a 6800GT and turned on 'hardware mouse' or whatever the option with the mouse was in the options menu. Since then my problem has not repeated.
dxdiag is my favorite command to get detailed system specs.
Does having a colony ship in orbit actually stop you from being able to just land a troop transport?
I think the point in splitting your attack against someone with reasonable defense is that unless they're using weapons o the type you have a defense against, your defense number gets the square root taken to apply towards defense. Although I'm not a math whiz so I can't tell off the top of my head if it would be better to have 10 of a weapon you don't have a defense against or 5 of two you don't have a defense against (as you would get two defensive
Interesting idea, I may give it a shot. I have found that if I put even a troop transport in orbit of a planet, that the DL seem to smell it and come blow it out of the sky. :/
Bumpity. I tried to put this in 'game talk' and the forums with their lovely 'feature' of 'dump it all in one pit' appears to have put it in the general forums. I've edited it for game talk and let's see if it sticks this time.
I'm living proof of Penny-Arcade's power. When they talked about GalCiv II in a news post a few months back I book marked the page and keep checking on it as development went on. I promptly bought a copy as I soon as I could get my grubby little hands on one as I've played 4X games before and this one just seemed like it had too many cool features to pass up.
While I never played the first GalCiv, I have played MOO, and other 4X style games. That being said, I am currently sucking hard core on normal difficulty on only mission 4 of the campaign. I'm aware there are two 'victory' conditions for this scenario, one of which is losing all your planets. I've played the scenario at least 5 times now and have always come close to 'winning' in this fashion before restarting the mission. I've never come *close*
Hrm, it appears that simply editing a post doesn't bump it at the same time. That being said, up up and away!
The only thing I can come up with is if you had a fleet of tiny ships in range of a military starbase with ship assist bonuses it could *potentially* be more powerful than one large ship. This works because the bonuses get applied to each SHIP in range of the starbase and the large ship only gets the bonus once whereas the fleet of 5 or 6 small ships would get the bonus 5 or 6 times. So the large ship maybe a 12/10 (arbitrary offense/defense numbers
Seems like only threads I start are showing up under "My Posts". Basically, that's how it works. Kinda sucks.
