Well, in all honesty, the 'full battles' disappointed me a little. Admittedly I've only seen 4 on 4 w/small hull fights, but even still the 'battleground' they displayed them in was itty bitty and the ships wheeled about in a chaotic manner, as if they *had* to keep moving instead of standing still to fire if that was an optimal firing option. Plus I'm not 100% but I swear the ships didn't look like they were designed to look like, but I could be wrong on that account. Hopefully as the battle
Armor is not useless against beam weapons, just non-optimal. Non-optimal, nearly useless, same thing. I didn't say fully useless, after all.
Cool, thanks for the info. Also a big yay that I got a reply for the post I made today. I posted about something else yesterday and never got a reply. I was starting to think I wasn't really real or something.
Which of the two boxes are you putting your serial number in? Even if you have a collector's edition of the game, you need to put it in the regular serial number box. It'll still know that it is a collector's edition and give you the updates and content. I guess stardock central would work, I haven't tried it yet.
In the campaign the only weapon tech I can research is beam weapons and the only defense I can research is armor plating. This wouldn't be too irritating if the baddies weren't also using beam weapons, rendering my armor research nearly useless. I'm still early in the campaign (darned supply issues in my area) and I'm just curious if this is a deliberate limit to early campaign missions, or if we are intended to be able to use all weapons/armors from the start.
*sniffs armpits* Well, I don't smell bad there. Did I step in some dog crap somewhere? No one has any thoughts/experiences on this?
The tutorial was all I needed to learn how to play the game decently in under 10 minutes. 10 minutes? Did we get the same tutorials? I sat through an hour and a half, but felt they instructed me fairly well on the gameplay.
If you use your mouse wheel (presuming your mouse isn't an antique) and ratchet out three or four times (which should put you most of the way out) left clicking and dragging should only take a few times to get across the biggest of maps. Side of screen scrolling really just annoys me, I love the new click/drag scrolling they have in this game.
I want B.2 Basically I don't care for an 'online' version wherein you connect to stardock's servers and match with a random opponent, but I don't want to have to take my computer to my friend's house to play. I want to be able to set myself up as the server, forward the correct ports in my firewall, and have him connect to my external IP address as a client, in addition to LAN/email/hotseat.
I am another person ya'll can thank Penny Arcade for having purchased the game. I hit your website when they linked it from their main site and kept my eye on the game from then on. I'm loving it and will be trying to get a half dozen or so friends to play it as well.
I will not buy a multiplayer expansion.Give me a more advanced spying system, better exploration, ect anyday.Just how many people play 4X games online? bugger all. Well, good for you. I, personally, would. Now, as to the *type* of multiplayer I would prefer, I would prefer being able to set yourself up as a host and allow clients to connect vi
I don't care if you have 10 legions of spearmen. One Panzer takes them out. Even if it runs out of ammo and has to squash the remaining guys. Hey, eventually the spearmen will get *someone* on top of the tank, and when he opens it up, look out! Pointy spears of death to everyone inside! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/
No thoughts?
In this vein, I noticed on normal difficulty in the first mission of the campaign the bad guys will send a steady stream of troop transports to their doom. They send them 1 transport at a time, no escort, while I have 2 fleets of 2 defenders and 1 lone defender patroling to keep my planets safe. I've blown up a dozen or so of their troop transports so far, they really need to add a 'hey we should stop wasting resources' thought process to the AI. Something that says "We've done A 3 or more ti
I've got a question on building ships at a starport, so I figured I'd hijack this thread to ask it. If I go to my starport from the planet screen, I can see all of the ships I can build and can select one and pick 'buy' at that point. I cannot, however tell it to start BUILDING one! I have tried double clicking the ship I want it to start building, I have selected the ship I want it to bu
So its okay to click drag 20 times to scroll across the galaxy? Don't try and click drag across the galaxy while zoomed in to the closest level? A few quick revs back on the mouse wheel should zoom you out far enough that you don't have to click drag very much to get across the biggest maps.
While they picked a voice that was supposed to sound neutral and pleasant, after about the first 30 minutes of tutorial watching, I did get a little tired of her voice. A 'mute' button would be great, along with a 'pause' button at the very least. There were multiple times when I'd have to rewatch a video because my daughter would require my attention and I'd miss something that was said and the video would end before I could scroll the text to find what I'd miss. Rewind would just be icing o
I've not played a whole lot as my local retailers had issues getting the game in stock and I only got my hands on it two days ago. Since then RL has interfered as well, thus I've only played a grand total of three times, for maybe a few hours each time. I've only been playing the campaign on normal difficulty and have restarted the first mission once so far. The first time I didn't build any colony ships so I only had the first one I started with and colonized the planet in the same sector as
