The only actual bug I recall seeing was when I was playing the game as the Yor and things went south, so I went back to the main menu and started a new game. After opening up the domestic stats screen I started to 'massage' my taxes/spending sliders to get optimum income without irritating my people off too much. They looked to be at 33% taxes, 67% spending per the norm but as soon as I clicked on the slider for spending to move it up, it jumped to 100% (my spending amount in my previous game

Starcraft is most definitely not over-rated. If I could find my disks I would be tempted to install it again and play it today just for thinking about it.
My few bugs so far, all as the Arceans. I had a fleet with 4 moves randomly go down to 1 max moves for a couple turns. I did save a game titled 'bug arcean' or something along those lines when I noticed it so I can furnish that savegame if requested. A few turns after I saved the fleet went back to 4 max moves - no combat had happened and no ships had joined or left the fleet. My medium hulled ships have 4 moves as they have 1 engine and then the speed bonuses from researchin
Ok, 20 lashes with the limp noodle for Purge for his bad pun!
Noooo, BoogieBac, why do you tempt the server gods so!
Playing as the Arceans in TA Beta 1b I can design a ship that is all Arcean technology and save it fine, but if I add in some traded alien armour when I come to save the design, I put in the new name and..... nothing disappeared into oblivion
Lucky! I just try to build ships with tech I've researched (tech trading off, no worlds taken to steal tech) and I can't do it 90% of the time. As codecritter said tho, it's a known bug
I'd vote for January if the poll wasn't broken. Every time I click 'vote' it returns some massive code errors to me.
All hail CariElf, the mighty bughunter!
Hmm...I'm able to make medium hull ships in the debugger as the Arceans...but it's possible this is the bug that I fixed last night with the invisible ships.
*sigh* I thought the last patch for TotA fixed this medium hull ship bug, but apparently it did not. At home I can build medium hulled ships just fine, but here at work where I had a pretty decent (by my standards) game going on, economy running qui
I've seen people post about this kind of problem before, Yorman. They usually posted again the next day saying that they emailed (I think that's right support email) and they got back with them really quickly and had a solution that resolved their issues.
Also, I somehow ended up with BOTH Entertainment Networks and Arenas (Not because of tech trading; I didn't even have Universal Translator researched).
Entertainment Networks are tied to the first tech in the communications/diplomacy tree. For whatever reason, as soon as you research the tech before Universal Translators (xeno communications, I think) you'll have the ability to build either arenas and entertainment networks. I'm *thinking* this is a bug/oversight,
Update - my motherboard manufacturer (sound is on-board) didn't have any newer version of the drivers, but I downloaded and re-ran the setup for the current version, along with updating my graphics drivers. Upon doing that and rebooting, the sound issue went away and I was able to play without bleeding from my ears.
So I've got this nasty nasty sound bug in Twilight of the Arnor tonight - I played for several hours last night and I'm 99% positive that if I'd heard this sound last night I would have realized it. It's kinda like an electronic cricket, on meth, playing at full volume, almost at the frequency of a dog whistle. Clicking on buttons within the game makes the noise go away for a fraction of a second, and closing the game entirely makes the sound go away. The first time I loaded TotA tonight, I d
Hrm, I was thinking the wrong direction come to look at things. With the Drengin the very first xeno communication tech has the normal morale building in it (which I think is kinda wrong when you read about how they don't like the terran way of entertainment. I say arenas should be their only +morale buildings) and it was probably the same one for the Arceans.
he was talking about the Drengin.
Er, for the last half yes, but I also directly compared the drengin b
Wait a tick, the Arceans get a economy booster in the beginning? When I started a game as them, I noticed they had neither an economy booster nor a morale building... just a factory and a lab... am I missing something major here?
Er, I think so. The morale booster isn't an 'off the bat' building, but it is reaaaaaly early in the diplomacy tree, I think. Like the tech after the universal translators if I recall correctly. The economy building *may* have been a tech-up,
I just downloaded and installed all three games here at the office (as I'm on helpdesk and stuck waiting for email to come in or the phone to ring) and the stardock software doesn't show any additional updates, yet every time I try to run TA it gives me an error about needing GalCiv version blahblahblah to run properly, I click ok, and it launches fine.
o.O *backs away from the thread slowly*
Upon colonizing a planet as the Drengin, I get told there are precursor artifacts that up production at the cost of lives. The neutral and evil flavortexts are different, but they bot state it is a 1% bonus to production. As the Dregin, I'm going with the evil answer, but I figure it should give more of a bonus than the neutral option.
Yeah, this game definitely would NOT work with a 'battle.net' style multiplayer - the games are far too long and most players you find in that type of environment are the ones that would be immature as previously mention. However, an all custom race direct IP to IP connect style multiplay would rock. I've got a few buddies that we wouldn't get on a direct LAN to play, but we would have one host and the other two connect directly to his IP from their house - we all live within a few miles of ea
Er, the angry German kid scares me.
As near as I can tell so far, the Drengin infrastructure "sucks"( their "factories" are really weak compared to the other races), they have anemic influence, couldnt trade for a bag of peanuts diplomatically...but they have a truly scary range of martial technology. Are they "crippled" because they're designed to conquest to improve themselves? Racial differentiation is the whole point of TA.
Yeah, I was playing TA last night, first with the Arceans until I reached the 'c
Huh, that's weird. I got my serial a few months ago when I pre-ordered the bundle. I'd presumed that everyone got their serial when they pre-ordered, like me. Or was that just something the bundle people got 'cuz they had to get a serial for Dark Avatar as it was already out, so the system went ahead and gave them a TotA serial as well?
Hrm, this further leads me to believe this is a Arcean bug. I've seen posts where people have successfully played a game as the Terrans already. I also tried to create a medium hulled ship as the Arceans with no results. I got the same black box for Cathedral of Valor with my 6800GT graphics card. I also noticed two Drengin fleets that were nothing but the number "3" in the corner of their sector. The Drengin sent in three fleets total, one had ship graphics with "3" under it to indicate th
Ok, so I played a bit longer and as is my custom I lulled the other races into a false sense of security by not wasting a penny on military expenses, instead pouring it all into production/research. Predictably, even the "good" terrans soon enough started asking for my lunch money, and when I flipped them off one too many times I had both the other races declaring war on me. To give the Terrans credit, they didn't declare for a turn or two after the Drengin. <img src="smiles/Ew.gif" border=0 a
This happens (exact description, game mouse cursor, black screen after alt-tab) for me in DA. If you press ESC it comes back... (well at least for me). Try that?
Hrm, could have sworn I hit a few of the 'major' keys, ESC being one of them. I may not have, I'll give it a shot in the future. Additional notes : Advanced Navigation Centers has a typo on the tech tree - it shows as "Advamced Navigation Centers". Additional bugs : I clicked turn and lost my t
