Hah hey there Sir. No not really. I was kind of hoping that everyone forgot about GalTrek :) Been very busy the last couple of years. I guess I might throw some time back into it soon. Cheers. -Brian

The thing that I think you are missing RapMastaZ is the the autopilot moves occur at the END of your turn, not the beginning. That is, move a ship to a planet which would take 4 turns, and right away the ship moves 1/4 of the way there, and the autopilot market lists 3 turns. You press NEW TURN, and the ship doesn't move, giving you an opportunity to use it's turns's movement points for something else. If you don't touch the ship, and press new turn, then the ship moves on autopilot at the end o
@neilo: :SNIFF!: @Moose: Thanks for the screen man. -Brian
Oh ya, that was stupid of me. :) Hm. Now why is GalCiv showing specular highlights... -Brian
One thing that is odd about your shot of the defiant is that it is showing some in-game specular highlighting (shininess). This -SHOULD- have been disabled by my work, so the models should appear "unlit". That is, if a model faces a star in-game, then it will NOT be lit by that star like other models in GalCiv. Actually those shots might be from DXViewer. I'd like to see some actual in-game shots when you get a chance. Thanks! -Brian
The multiple texture files on the shuttle actually should be fine. I do not believe that multiple files for multiple regions should cause a problem. I had it running that way in galciv before. Need to figure out what the issue is though. -Brian
Alright here are three ships in directX .X format, along with textures. I have also included the free DXviewer.exe so that you can try viewing the X files yourself outside of the game. Now, I couldn't tell before packing up these ships whether I have added mount points to them or not. Usually I stick "mini-mount" points around the key areas of the ships, like phasors, etc, so that you could mount weapons there without them really seeing them on the hull. Also, I usually stick a bunch
Good to hear guys! I have my GalTrek stuff archived at home. Next time I am home, I will grab the stuff and work on putting it into some form that I can release here for you guys to play around with. Stand by! -Brian
Sounds good! Thanks. I will put something together for you. -Brian
Hah! Hey boys (& girls)! Nice to see that I'm still welcome! Ok, well in that case I guess I had better get back to work on these ships! Sorry for being so out of touch. The past many months have been very busy for me, with the starting (and eventual selling) of my software business, and having become newly employed for a New York based company, I haven't found much time left for the ships, much less getting to play GalCiv! I get less then one game of GalCiv in every two / th
Nice work guys! Glad to see the "Star Trek" thing moving forward. -Brian [email protected]
Hey Folks. Spleeze here again. I'm surprised to see people still posting to these threads! I should fire some of these ships up in DA and see if the performance issues have been solved on some of the higher poly models. People keep asking for "releases" so maybe I can put something out if there are enough people interested. Anyway, cheers everyone! Looking forward to the new GalCiv Expansion! [email protected] -Brian
Wow fantastic! I can't wait to give this stuff a try. Maybe I'll run the GalTrek models through the new engine and see if I get any better texture performance. Cheers! -Brian
I have a Dell Ultrasharp 2405FPW 24-inch monitor native at 1920x1200, and that is how I run the game. The machine has a Geforce 7900GS, and I experience superb performance with AA enabled. -Brian
I agree. I am for smaller 'roids as well. Brian Custom ECommerce and Shopping Carts
Oups. Figured it out. -Brian
Heavens Eagle yep I have been there actaully. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=117337 There are my ships thus far. Many of them are built on existing SFC3 ships. A very good resource! Hopefully, once things calm down a bit, I can get some ships out to the community. -Brian
maybe I'll do both. Mod and model pack. -Brian
LogicSequence, actually I do have permission to use that model. castun, nope. that is why I need to get that model down in polysize. Ion, I dont see a problem with that. Hopefully the mod gets finished though! God things got busy all of a sudden. -Brian
Moosetek13, i think i will implement the ships as the terran hull type, but you can still play as a custom race no problem. Just choose terran as your hull style. Ahzi Dahaka. No I don’t think that I will do it that way. Started a new business the other week, and I really have no time at all anymore : ( hopefully I can get the current mod finished. -Brian
I took a short hiatus, but I am going to get back into it. Just about ready to release an alpha test of a bunch of ships. Check out the other ships, here: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=117852 -Brian
I started a custom race, and was configuring its abilities, when I noticed that I had +20 to Loyalty (“Loyalty (+20)” on the right list), when no points have been assigned to any box for loyalty. When I assigned a point to “Mostly Faithful +10%”, the left list updated to show “Loyalty +10%” like it should, and when I removed that point from the right it correctly updates to left to show “Loyalty” with no bonuses. Why then was it getting +20% to begin with? The same with Soldering.
I will have an alpha test out soon. AngleWyrm. I did my links using standard HTML anchor tags. Do they not appear properly for you? -Brian
OMG. Did I just write "pulpous" ? -Brian
El Conquest, I believe he is requesting an ability to assign ships or fleets special tactical icons (when zoomed out) for the pulpous of identifying special ships or fleets. For instance, say that you have a fleet consisting of ships designed specifically with beam weapons (for those races that are vulnerable to such weapons) and another fleet for mass drivers. It would be nice to somehow visually code each fleet in tactical view for easy identification. The same would be nice for fle
