You're playing an old beta version. Beta means that things might not work. Old means that this has since been fixed. This is both. Go back to a non-beta version, or update to the latest beta version (1.1 beta 3).
Monkey Pants
Possible explanation: Existing owner of planet did not have any terraforming tech researched. You were either of neutral allignment, or had an orbital terraformer. PQ goes down eg. 1 point due to your invasion. PQ goes up 5 points due to your tech/allignment End result - higher planet quality after successful invasion. The figures varied each time due to your mass drivers causing random damage each
Yeah, good old mainstream. The further into it you get, the more users you get that put enormous support pressures on you. For a company like Stardock where two way communication between users and staff is large and visible, that can be incredibly dangerous. To be honest I've been expecting this post for a few weeks. The masses of "I want THIS added to the game, why are they being evil and not changing the game for me?", "OMG I found a bug a
Good stuff. I for one get tired of arogant crybaby losers who have such a high opinion of themselves that anything beating them - human or computer - MUST be cheating. Not just on this forum, but all over the place. Although this doesn't help with the latter, at least this is something to point the former to in a hope to get them to actually think. <
Yes it's the same. The only difference between an X2 and an FX 60 is the label. It's not a patch, it's a driver for your CPU. Install it and you'll be ok, they're all the same. And.... IT'S NOT A BUG!!!! It's your system not having up-to-date drivers.
folkewolfe - I think that was just bad timing. I set races on each other all the time, and I don't think I've ever seen them retaliate for it. After all, I doubt they're going to tell each other "haha we like you really, but they paid us to attack you". Knowing the way the devs want the game to be - "the AI and the human players are on equal footings where possi
Without wanting to sound like a broken record.... when did you last update your sound and gfx drivers? (Check your debug.err file in the galciv2 folder for info) Also are you running the 1.0X update? Most CTDs since then have been down to either bad/old drivers or overheating hardware. A bit of investigation, and you'll probably be up to 5AM in no time. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 A
Yes, it's potentially an 'exploit' whichever way they did it. Sending 1 guy over in a troop transport to wipe out the entire contents of their planets in a total exploit in every situation. Using destructive tactics to wear down an opponent before a final attack with non-destructive tactics is exploitable, but far less so. You also stand a chance of actually succeeding on your first try and accidentally wiping out the planet
If the battles went on for a good number of rounds, defences would be more useful than they are at the moment. As long as you can get the first shot in and kill in one shot, there's no need for defences. Hopefully 1.1 with the AI's new found respect for speed this will change, though.
I wasn't making another 'check your drivers' post, I was expressing my dismay at yet another "*I* have a problem, tens of thousands don't, but regardless the faulty link must lie within the game rather than my software, OS, or hardware setup" post.
If you can't/don't want to give her account full admin rights, it might be worth a try just giving her account read/write access to the galciv2 install folder.
oops. ignore.
Well if you aim for the trade tech, I think it's only 3 levels down in the diplomacy techs. Even with some attention elsewhere you should get it within the first year.
Well done fgetting it sorted youself. Many lesser men/women just go "OMG the game broken!!" and throw their toys out of their pram. Yes, that 5 year old sound driver was a bit long in the tooth. Enjoy the game.
Oh yes, I wasn't complaining, it's all part of the fun. Just some of those things that you realise how odd they really are if you think about them.
Read the forum. There have been about 4 posts asking this in the past day or so. One is right next to this in the list at the time of writing!
There's no logical reason for it to apply to AI planets only. It should apply to every planet.
I'm not really into the metaverse. I'd prefer to have fun than be thinking "will this get me more points?" IT would be nice to see it in game somewhere. Maybe alliances could be announced, with pictures of the happy couple.
give them stuff, set up trade routes with them, have a strong military, have a similatr ethical alighnment, dont attack them or influence their planets then wait!
I believe it's 3% now, with bonuses at 75% and 100% morale (and disadvantages below that). Did the Torians by any chance have a higher approval rating?
MonkeyLogic (I assume he's a long lost brother of mine) made a VERY important point. The AI players (according to the guy that wrote the AI code if you can trust him ) said himself that the AI has no way to know if another player is human or com;puter controlled. From personal experience (ie not stating a fact, but an educated guess from what I se
Ah yeah that. Took me quite a while to find out how to change it. I think I can remember how. My account (at the top) > Personal information > continue from there. (I think)
a game that lasted 6 months??? You are one crazy cat! Seriously though, for a good game you really want more than 2 races. Either you go 2 players and 6 AI (does 1 out of 7 opponents being flesh & blood really make things that much better? How about if they go out early? Do you abandon and retry, or what?) or you go several flesh opponents, and that
Whats the problem to have balanced races AND a an overall roughly balanced game? And why should there are such weird things that abilities vanished for some races? And why could i relocate 10 full points of ability after a reset and still have some very inhomogeneous special abilities (like miniaturization) on som
Regardless of number of survivors, I think there needs to be a minimum of one troop transport used up per invasion. That's all we seem to have happening here.
