I couldn't find the thread earlier... so here it is ! Slamming the game away. [e digicons][/e] Seriously, there's tons of really good stuff (and suggestions) in that one -- too.
Bumped... since it seems FrogBoy is in an "updating" mood! Really, that's where you might find WHAT to fix (or consider, btw) in the next version. [e digicons]:D[/e]
The usual fix, please... Surface Tiles should match their description with the "pictures" when cycling through planets! [e digicons][/e]
Let's face it... like all "games", it simply fades away sooner than later. What really didn't workout for me though (from a SD's standpoint) is the fact that the library Uploading capacity vanished (I *DO* have huge updates made up for both X-Worlds & Cosh... and sadly, i'm the only one using them it seems!); it was just like saying to modders --- We, at StarDock, don't mind GC2 stuff anymore. Well, okay. We, got it. Obviously, priorities change in life (
Dunno if i understood you correctly but here goes anyway... I think you want to do a maze within a custom map that would allow some areas to be "harder" to move into by jamming ships path to a bottleneck center, right? Indirectly, this could be achieved by using fake "invisible" ships -- but, it's quite complex. First, you'd need a sort of neutral race which can't play and won't have a homeworld... but with the ne
Freedom(s). There, i said it. Shame on me? Well, shame on anybody who can't see the whole concept of communicating in this realm of ours called the web. It's a new "way of life" in fact. Not far from the cantine talky around the noon meals... any & all people would fit in as much as they're allowed to. Sure, there's a line to be drawn where objectional behaviors must be controlled, but tell me - seriously - have you ever been able
What would really get your interest in getting one?
Nothing, really. It's just the usual techno_gimmick_of_the_trendy_moment. Besides, anyone knows how fast stuff fades away in the 'puter world. Truth be said though that i *do* own a tiny portable (which serve(d) only as a backup solution when the main desktop PC failed temporarily last summer, btw) and i don't use it much if anything. Steady, solid, reliable supply of continual volts from
Outch, the pain of NOT_HAVING_MADE_A_GOOD_SOLID_BACKUP. It happens to the worst of us... even i was unlucky enough to waste a couple of weeks last year on a silly messed MBR flaw. Granted, now i *DO* have proper reset files handy -- just in case. Nice planet, btw.
So, what's the question exactly? I know for a fact that the Bonus "tiles" can be linked to a terraforming system such as what i added to X-Worlds' planets, but IIRC the feature(s) themselves aren't moddable. Unless the OP meant the tiny icons which provides extra % to the PI built there, in which case mostly the values are either hard-coded or anyone can indirectly create some new system for it by editing the xml file patterns to match. Trick is, to balance gameplay consequenc
What, are you, me, and foxthree the only modders left on the site or something? Seriously... this place is dead!
Hey, who_do_you_think_IS_always_working at further "updates" to two personal mods in the shadows of absence & lack of forums accessing pace - lately? The only dead place will & always would be in people's mind. The biggest problem be
Troll, what trolls? In a blink of an eye, you too could endup with personality disorder conditions; just try your hands at working on three (++, C) whole different games at any given time in your lives and see what happens next! You'll possibly figure complex Algorithms are much worst than real people (as in core-gamers) or worst... the usual trolls found crawling in your soooo precious site. Besides, modders can only make the situation even tougher to handle -- since,
I'd have to plug some of mine; X-Worlds #06A ( Forum Link + Library Slot ) & CoSH ( Forum + Library ) ... both of which aim to alter gameplay in different degrees. Note that there are supplemental files o
There are a number of "Free" web-space services which allow file-sharing potential nearly beyond the 100MBs mark already. Most of these require regular activity to take place and continual access to transit files... so as long as you're always keeping up with constant D/L ratios that space would remain active. Google is your friend - in that particular case. Search will give you dozens of solid results to choose from.
Here, i'll give you a different challenge... play some of my X-Worlds (#06-A) mod and get exclusive control over all 30+ Trade-Goods available. Reach for a TechVic, only btw too! Dare, spying on opponents with the enhanced ways. Etc. Techno speed alterations is one thing, context & new gameplay elements another. [e digicons]:jafo:[/e]
Like it or not, Digital distribution will take over a number (if not all to last) of commercial pipelines eventually. It's called innovation. A pattern which has started the minute people logged on a thingy known as www by bandwidthing their ways to online freedom. Movies went from VHS tapes to DVD & now, Bluerays. Phones from off_the_wall_wired_gimmicks to Trek-like communicators. TeeVee B&W tubes to flat plasma & 3D stuff. Heck, rock songs to Mp3
Bumped back to incite Jrla21's follow up replying for the final answer!
Anything - however new & optimal OS they might become - can be "enhanced" through external tools such as ObjectDesktop. I bought it for a number of reasons, one of which Vista itself. I simply felt too much control over the UI was taken away from me by MS... came along skinning and other stuff with some SD stuff. Good investment in a PC toolbox if only cuz that sort of poweruser gimmicks add value to an otherwise lame machine. If there's one silly system flaw prese
Aside from the "political" death of that investor/senator to seal the shuttle door... the whole premise seem pretty slick. The situation looks like ST:Voyager as they will have to find a way back from huge distances. I enjoyed the rendering of the ship's (Destiny!) galactic path with blue lines on that console screen. And blowing up a whole planet was quite spectacular. Excellent character composition by Robert Carlyle of Dr. Rush.
I do know Ken Levine is probably the second biggest X-Com fan on the planet. The first biggest is Me
If i had to create a new mod of UFO:Defense/Terror_from_the_Deep/Apocalypse for GC2 with X-Worlds... it sure does qualify me as being another "huge" fan of that franchise by Mythos & the Gollop broothers. Trick is -- i still play these in a Dos-Box mode and they are as good as they ever were! Totally addictive concept and superb elements. As for a seq
As much as i'd like to pin SD offices on some Earth maps, i'll need to insist Impulse is virtually impossible to locate at any particular moments... even if loaded from/by a Michigan based server. You'd have to think the Great Lakes were simply dumped from space by the Drengins a few million years ago.
Outch... considering i also went from some oldy TI/99-4A stuff and a hugely evolved 386DX-40 from the late 80's, it is obvious i too gape in awe when i get to use the latest in computing technology. To think how slow & "counter-productive" much of what was available (at sooooo high prices) back then, is certainly mind boggling. Processors timing is just eons beyond earliest figures of compiling activity. Efficiency is now pipelined enough to produce some e
I own the small(est) model Bamboo_Fun #CTE-450K and it's a blast when it comes to intuitive drawing tasks & skills. Highly recommended device for anyone serious about creativity tools. Reasonably priced last spring (About 125CDN$/including Taxes!) and it was boxed with some pretty nifty softwares such as Elements-6 and a stripped down version of Corel Painter-4. Besides, slick pencil is a much more natural thing to hold instead of a PC mouse.
Boycotts only serve to spread even more "reactions" from some TeeVee hosts! Let it be said they can certainly benefit from the controversy... besides, what if FOX_News bans UPS; next thing ya know the tube will become a propaganda device. Cabled. For a price. We still pay for filt & politics. Play a game or somethin'. Currently, what we have are pub stunts on multiple channels. And no talkin head (howev
I once drove this "Hi-Octane" SR5 on Québec Highways. (Summer '83, in fact) Lost a lotta hair since, though... [e digicons]:ninja:[/e]
