In that case, the main default techtree might be "used" to indirectly grow the size of the custom tree... as all variations of such individual trees can refer to it for some common techs, right? Unless, you want a standalone tree for that specific race -- most techs found in it wouldn't call the main file for general resources.

Call it a coincidence... but, the 8600GS overheated two weeks ago and was swiftly replaced (under warrenty & including service) by a decent 9600GT (both 512MBs) & lucky me, that Acer Tower Mobo had a resident 7100 (941-GPU, IIRC) chipset integrated so i could actually loadup Vista & still use the PC on the VGA array even with such a temporary solution & verify system integrity. Now, it's back to pure DVI and -- speedy performance. No reasonably good Mobo should be with

It is more a question of balancing the assets while the corresponding techs become available, from scouting tasks to an all out war against AI - we still need variable sizes to pack a deck of attack or faster engines. I've altered these values in X-Worlds ships, but for different reasons... TSMLCH (Tiny to Huge) default sequence was; 16,24,48,80,60,150. I modded that to be; 20,32,56,92,76,128. (For example, the cargo hull has been sized 16+ for an extra module & ju

Alright, looks like it has been fixed! They snapped a 9600GT-512mbs (much better card, indeed!) into the slot and i'm back on the desktop... strangely, for a whole week the oldy Compaq/HP Presario-V6000 laptop came to the rescue somehow but there's still very limited stuff on it & it was sooooo slow. Touch pad mousing is clumsy. Kept the PSU, though. Bof, it's okay. As long as this tower stands, it's working good. So, back to modding & other important tasks. [

The BrowseWnd.dxpack file was "altered" for TA so that any mods selection lines couldn't appear in the usual listing. This was corrected by (IIRC) macmat a little while ago and you should be able to find the thread & a link to the file somewhere in this modding section. As for your mod, there might be some corrupted files in it, too. Even if the instructions above are carefully followed, there's no guarantee such modded files are properly configured. It's reasonable to assume that

Alright... it's back to the oldy P4 with XP_Pro, the 6200 and all that jazz. Call me a turtle with a bunch of obselete junk to be bothered with for the next 1.5 week. They better fix it, fast. [e digicons]:'([/e]

And to make it even clearer (since i was interrupted by an important task). 250 years ago yesterday, in Québec city the British military defeated the French colonists on "Les Plaines d'Abraham" and soon after took over Canada as a result. Two things were planned to commemorate this event. 1) Reconstitution of the battle field itself with "theatrical" characters, cannons, rifles and the whole strategic plans of Wolfe & Montcalm without forgetting the native t

It's not that we need another election, it's that NOTHING stopped the Conservatives from escaping opposition parties last fall by emptying the House of Commons. Like cowards, they knew very well a minority couldn't manage to run a country through recession and other much more important issues... and choose to mock out the democratic process and shut down politics altogether by silencing the Liberals, the Bloc, the NDP and THE population rights to have them <span style="text-d

There are plenty of shipstyles Mods & files in the library... all you need to do is download the stuff, examine what THEY did and simply copy the method(s) used. I'd recommend AFRonin's work or even MrKorx's Asa of Iggdrasil. For a starter.
