I can tell from the sensor ship above that I'll have some new toys with which to improve my renditions of starfleet vessels. Does the DA beta have compatibility with Kryo's hull mod?
Axel Kane
Thank you. Great mod, by the way.
I asked this in anohther post, but are the graphics updates of DA going to be backwards compatible with the current version of GC2? How about Kryo-modded GC2? I worked on particular ships for, say, ten to twenty hours to get them just right. I would like to be able to continue to use those designs in DA, without having to start from scratch. Will that be possible?
These changes sound just about perfect. One question--will DA be backwards compatible with saved hulls designs from "vanilla" GC2(including Kryo's Mod)? I spent alot of time designing and tweaking my Starfleet and Klingon race ships, and I don't want to have to start from scratch with DA if I don't have to.
Mainly I don't want my capital ships bobbling back and forth during a battle like they have a tremor. I don't know why that happens, but its my biggest gripe with the battle viewer.
" got tired of asking the dems for a planetary base and finally built my own" I didn't know the democrats had planetary bases to give out. Hehe
I like the idea of heroes...that also means that through espionage, you could find out the enemy hero's location (or simply track his or her infamous ship), and hunt down the enemy hero and kill him (via assassination or battle). Think of " Sink the Bismarck !". The presence of an infamous hero in your territory can be considered an act of war if he is not removed by the potential adversary within a few turns. There can be all sorts of ramifications that add to the game u
Deus Ex was a game that played like reading a novel--really a conspiracy novel. In fact, alot of movies and books touched on parts of the same conspiracies inherent in Deus Ex --books ranging from The Da Vinci Code to movies like National Treasure . I found it cool and exciting, even if you took away the "shooter" aspects of the game. Deus Ex 2 , well, not so much. I suspect that the next gaming experience to inherit the spirit of the first Deus Ex<
Probably hybrid games, like Deus Ex, which was an FPS-RPG, could be added to the list. Good ones like that=4.
Thank you very much.
I have to admit that I can't find a link at all on the forum website http://s31clan.com/stmod/index.php that actually allows me to download any mod, whether its the original or beta Star Trek 2 mod.
Global Conquest , by Dan/Danielle Bunten. A quirky version of Empire, really. I loved that game. I think its being remastered just like Empire Deluxe had been by Killer Bee Software. The Perfect General I and II were also great, but I think of them more as Turn-based tactics rather than strategy.
One additional suggestion: how about being able to design starbases, using hull parts just like designing ships? You could have that as an option--even not having new parts specific to starbases, but rather the same parts used for ships.
I like the idea of being able to design what my opponent's ships look like. The "vanilla" opponents' ships leave a little to be desired (no offense meant). I for example, created an entire Starfleet set and an entire Klingon set of ships (using Kryo's most excellent hull mod) and would love to see a battle between the two play out. I would still love to see heroes enter the game, or at least heroic ships that may have special abilities, upon whose heads enemies would pay a price (e.g.
Get both. Support the precious few developers that actually cater to us turn-based space strategy fans.
BTW, Brad, nice interview in Computer Gaming World. I was pleased to see you representing Stardock as among the "giants" of AI in gaming. Woot.
Somehow when I preordered, it charged me for two--54 bucks for both download and for download plus CD. All I want is the download only. What do I have to do?
Trading planets as a means of diplomacy never sat well with me. Resource mining starbases ok, but having the AI accept me giving two planets to them for the price of one isn't...realistic. Would the United States trade Alaska just because Europe was willing to give us Spain and Portugal? That was a tongue in cheek example, but I wouldn't think such planet trades would ever be taken lightly. I don't think that it ruins diplomacy to not be able to do such things.
Alot of "futuristic" science fiction has religion as a focal point. Dune , Reality Dysfunction , and Hyperion come to mind. I don't think religion per se will die out just because a society becomes more scientifically advanced.
These are the warships of my United Federation of Planets Fleet. Thank you, Kryo, for such a wonderful mod! The Miranda Class Frigate is the earliest of the capital ships within my starfleet. With upgrades, including miniturization, it is condsidered a Light Cruiser. <IMG src="http://img84.imageshack.us/img8
Ha...I thought the title of this thread meant that somebody made a Galciv II movie that just shipped. Of course, they made a Wing Commander movie, so stranger things can happen...
Oh my God. I've never imagined non-professional internet movie makers could outdo studios such as Paramount--but they did. If you ever wondered what it would be like to see a Sovreign class starship combat Babylon Five, with better production values than what I've seen from major studios, download this free movie. Its a parody--and a damn funny one--of both Star Trek and Babylon Five. There's a kicker--its in Finnish, with English subtitles. And its not suitable for the kiddie
These are the salad days for turn based space strategy gaming, my friends. Not only will there be an awesome expansion to GalCiv2, but we have SE V coming out, and a few others out there I had heard of as well--something called "Horizon" and also "Sword of the Stars". If they look good I'll buy one of each--we have to support the few developers that cater to us turn based gamers. Of course, I'll support GalCiv3...
"> One last improvement upon Enterprise, seen here in my reenactment of the engagement with Khan. I enlarged the Nacelles, with an interesting effect at their anterior portion. Sorry if I am posting too many Trekish models. I just love the spaceship design portion of the game so much. I stil
