I upgraded to Vista and a new machine with widescreen, and just installed DL and DA which work fine, except for a ship destination assignment problem (separate post). However, I transferred my ships from my prior computer (worked hours on Trek-like ships) and upon installing the KHSM Mod 1.9 for DL and DA, everything worked fine, except for the "hulls as jewelry" option. I followed the instructions for running copymodels.bat and still no hulls as jewelry appear, on either my saved templates or

I upgraded to a 1920 X 1200 widescreen and Vista on a new computer, and installed both Galciv 2 DL and DA, and they run fine. However, I can't click on a ship and normally assign a destination spot like I had before. It does allow me to right click a destination spot as long as its only a short distance from the ship. Its frustrating, because I dont want to have to keep assigning the same ship its destination each turn, if the ship has to travel an appreciable distance. Is this a Vist
TOS: "City on the Edge of Forever" (Edith Keeler must die!")--Harlan Ellison TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise" DS9: "Way of the Warrior" Voyager: Nada. Didn't like Voyager at all. Except the game Elite Force. That was ok. Enterprise: "Mirror, Darkly" It seems the best episodes either have to do with time travel or alternative universes. Perhaps the paradoxes involved are a type of drama unique to the science fiction genre.
Janes' Fighting Starships : The Federation of Planets. The Philosopher Class starship is the earliest of Starfleet's capital ships. The USS Socrates is shown here. The Miranda Class frigate replaces the Philosopher, in that she's faster and more heavily armed. This class will continue to see service throughout the Dre
This wouldn't apply to initially playing a custom race, but how about this mega event: a mad scientist figures out a way to transpose the personalities of you (the player) with the leader of an opposing empire. All of a sudden, you have to play as one of the AI's empires, and the AI in turn picks up where you left off with your own empire.
David Weber is the author that comes most to mind when discussing space strategy oriented games. Interestingly, he apparently was one of the designers of an old paper game called Starfire, which was a prime inspiration for the development of the Space Empires series of games (a competing product of Galciv).
I goof off at work too and browse the net. My boss would get mad except...oh yeah I am the boss.
I also noted posts there by Draginol and Frogboy. Get your blogs mixed up boys?
I somehow got hijacked to JoeUser.com when attempting to connect to the Galciv Home page. Did this happen to others?
BTW, I thought that a version of Kryo's mod was able to be used in Metaverse (I don't play metaverse games myself).
Finally, this is my "dreadnought" version of Enterprise (the Enterprise "F") I call the Indefatigable Class. "/>
Thanks for the compliments, guys. I don't mean to hijack the thread. The above Enterprises were done with Kryo's mod, but not because I needed to use other hulls--but rather because the free hardpoints are much easier to work with.
Of course, what's Enterprise without her nemeses: "/>
I also tried a version with standard, cylindrical nacelles, but didn't like the look: [img]
This is one I made using Kryo's Mod, but could probably come up with something similar without:
Allow for changing of political parties. Make planetary elections actually MEAN something. There may be a point when you are making lots of cash and want to change from the Federalist party to the War party when facing alot of enemy civs. You have to pay a possible price in failing to win future elections by changing over, however. I still think it wouldn't be too hard to allow for heroes on ships or planets--a great manager to boost prodcutivity on a certain planet, or a ship captai
Interesting thing I noticed about Kryo's Mod--when I loaded DA, the Kryo's Mod that worked with DL was seemingly compatible with DA--until I noticed that the blank hulls were of different hit points. A huge hull for DA has different (more) hit points than does a huge blank hull for DL with Kryo's (old) mod. The new huge hull also costs more. This made for an interesting, and perhaps not bad situation--I now have more choices of hull size and cost. If I made a huge blank hull with Kryo's mod
Like alot of folks, I get somewhat frustrated in the early game, and if I manage to make it past the first fifty turns or so without getting pummeled, then I know I've won. To me though its the second half of the game that is the most fun--when you finally have a fleet that can stand up for itself, and you can tell the bullying Drengin to go pack sand--or demand a tithe from THEM for a change. I wish Accelerated Start had an option to play a different race than Human. I play various
This version of the Constitution Class took alot less time to create than the original I made with Dread Lords parts. Having a pre-rendered saucer section was great. The engine nacelles also scale to a much larger, proportionate size this time so I didn't have to create those from scratch either. If you meant how long did it take to download DA, maybe 40 minutes with a reasonably good connection. If yo
Oh...rats. I can't get imageshack to work again.
This is my new Constitution class based on the new DA graphics (which I love)
Heh...I thought this was going to be a long rant about the decline of Western civilization...
I transfered a ship called ADV Enterprise II to the DA ship files as instructed. It was created for a custom race using kryo's mod and Drengin basic hull. I transferred both the xml and shipcfg files (although there appeared to be three shipcfg files associated with this single xml file.) I did not change the prefix on the shipcfg file since I didn't know what to change it to. It still doesn't show up if I choose "Battle of the Gods" as a startup option. What do I need to do for that ship t
Oh...nevermind. I saw that someone else just asked the same question on another post, and Kryo answered it. Thanks.
I love some of the new ship parts and jewelry from DA. I made a couple of Star Trek ships that I had posted, but now that there are pre-made saucer sections and the like, I'd like to upgrade my Enterprise , for example. But I don't want to start from scratch (my original Enterprise took me ten hours). Can I import designs from DL and then upgrade them with parts from DA?
