I installed the game on my 8 year old son's computer, since he liked watching Dad create cool spaceships. He actually has a pretty good rig, but I am unable to use the depressed mousewheel button to allow for rotation of the image during shipbuilding (or even to rotate the map). He has essentially the same mouse I do (Logitech MX 510) which works fine othrwise and in other programs. The scrolling function also works fine. Without rotatio

I downloaded a few of my Yamato under the sticky for "Show us your cool ship designs", on page 6
here's a few more angles: uh, sorry, I'm new to
My version of the Space Cruiser Yamato
I created one modelled after "Space Cruiser Yamato" and think it s pretty good...I just cant seem to get a screenshot to post. For the big gun in the front, I just used a backward facing uh, thingamabob. Oh, well, I'll just figure out how to post a screenie
Ha....the problem still exists for me, however.
I found that I'd create a base ship design with no "meaningful "components (just eye candy), but if I start up another game with a different race (same hull design though) I can't pull up the saved design for the new game. Even if the ship were a small hull size and I already had that hull tech capability. Hopefully, this upcoming change will fix this. I can't find the directory in the game where custom ships are saved. I was thinking a m
I am in the middle of a great game, in a huge galaxy on Normal difficulty. I am the top empire, but two others aren't far behind. I feel as though victory is assured at this point, but I don't want it to be--the game just started getting really interesting. I just want to make the AI more challenging, so that the game's ending isn't a foregone conclusion. I don't want to have to start a new game, either, since it took so long for me to get where I
Now that would be interesting--have each alien race have a recorded voice over instead of text. Shatner could be the Terran (although I picture Bruce Boxleitner, the guy from Babylon 5) more. Each of the actors that played the alien leaders would be interesting voice overs, in fact--especially Peter Jurassik, the guy who played Londo.
I have constructed a "carrier" complete with launch bay and "fighters", but it was all eye candy--not functional, but it looked great. The fighters were made by the smallest version of two types of ship jewelry--the one that looks like an old fashioned shuttlecraft from Star Trek, and the other looks like some kind of a trucated colonial fighter from Battlestar Galactica. (Search through the jewelry--you'll see which ones I mean). The landing strip in the bay can be made by the long flat h
Ha, my ships became mutated too when I called up old designs after having switched races for a new game. ( I hope that when it happened, there weren't any souls aboard....yeech)
You, my friend, are an artist. I thought my designs were good, until I saw your cinematic, epic-appearing ships. Awesome. I look forward to more of your ships. I also love the names--I tend toward those types of names as welll. The power of this ship designer is amazing. I would have bought this game for that alone.
I became too addicted to the ship designer. My wife is...unhappy. Thanks alot, Stardock
I have researched through basic miniturization and have not noticed components (such as weapons) taking up less space. Is this supposed to work in a different way?
I would call "tiny" a heavy fighter, and " small" a gunboat. There was a posted gameplay example not long ago in which one of the Stardock guys came up with ship stats for each class (eg., size, crew, engines, etc). I think you make them up yourself.
I haven't played the beta, but I've seen where ship classes can be named. Can individual ships be named? Do they gain any kind of prestige/expertise with battle victories or experience? I look forward to having my version of the Bismarck being sought after by the enemy for its notoriety in tonnage destroyed. I have a whole list of wonderful names from the British Navy (the have the best ship names ever, like Indefatigable, Exeter, Exelcior, etc) .
