Or anyone who knows the answer. Basicly what I want to know is.. are there certain times, or situations, where a certain computer opponenent will just NOT ally with you? I ask this because in one game.. I allied with the Torians and the Thalan fairly easily. Later on I wanted to expand my alliance to the Arceans. because I am still trying to figure out the system, I decided to save the game to see what combination of "gifts" worked the best to open an alliance.<br

Well I quit that game without finishing it. I am getting bored with Normal difficulty.. I know im going to win and it takes the fun out of it. I think im gonna boost it up to Tough for my next game. Anyway.. since I didnt finish the game im not gonna write a story about it. here is the short and skinny. As I said..the Torians surrendered and they left me their planets. Well, they left me about 8 planets (pretty much doubled my planet count).. 2 of them w
I love minor races. I trade them all my military, logistic, engine techs. They wont ever use em against me..so it works out well .
Just curious if anyone has had something interesting happen through an event, or from an anamoly. For the most part mine have been pretty boring. Never seen a major event... mostly ive seen Ranger ships, and a big beam that doubled population growth. Anamolies have been more boring.. everything is either a sum of money or a 25% "boost" in my current research. I just wonder if there is better stuff out there that I just havent experienced yet <img src="smil
What id like to see with espionage. 1. Inside information one what the next UP will be about. 2. The ability to "push" civs that you have a high espionage rating with, towards the choice you want.
if you built a custom ship then tried to save it with the name of one of the ships already in the game..then it will tell you you cant modify a core design. like I tried to name a ship "ranger" and it told me I couldnt.. but I could name it "Ranger2"
A couple days ago I thought Evil was to obvious a choice.. but ive been playing around with Good and beleive me..it is very beneficial...maybe TOO powerful. for one.. its bonuses to moral and such are inherant.. Evil has to build stuff to get the bonuses.. which not only takes time and money, but precious spots on your planets. for two.. the Good temple gives you a portion of all other good race's trade profits.. and there are alot more good than evil civs. third
Ive seen over and over and over the explaination on the difficulty levels and how much of the AI is used at each level. But now when I really want to see it I cant seem to find it anywhere. At what difficulty level does the CPU play at 100%?
So in the game im currently playing, im being influenced to death by the Altarians. The problem is that im currently at war with the Korx, and dont really want to add another party to the mix. Additionally, I cant really afford to pump out constructors cause im too busy pumping out fighters to take out the Korx with, and to give to my Allies (well..Ally now... the Torians just surrendered..but they gave me their planets! i love those little bug eyed ****ers!) SO!..what would you re
I have two requests, and one question, about the forums here. Requests: 1. Can we create a seperate forum for the "unimportant" sticky threads? I imagine there are certain ones we would want to leave here to make sure people see them and read them before reporting things/asking questions... but the Sticky's are now taking up the entire first page before you hit the "more" button.. and it would be alot easier to see if there are any new posts if at least half of the fir
I love the epic feel of this game. You can really get in the mindset that you are taking over the universe and haggling with these alien races. Anyway, eventually, id like to play a huge game with each one of the races. Im talking a week long extravaganva . What would really help it along though..is more backstory on the races. Its alot easier to get immersed in a game, playing as (for example) the Drath Legion, if you had an
Well after scouting and grabbing anamolies(sp?).. I dont really know what to do with my flagship. I mean... should I upgrade it into a fighter?... what about those anamolies that give XP and such..will this transfer over with an upgrade? Just curious what you do with your flagship. And is there any penalty for losing your flagship?
I switched the Yor over to be my own race.. changed their name, appearance..etc..etc.. because I liked their bonuses. Anyway..now I cant switch them back. I thought the "clear" button would go back to default...no dice. I could manually switch them back, but I dont remember every detail.
I feel like im spamming the forums, but I discovered this last night... well i wouldnt say discovered, more like i thought of this and thought id share it with anyone who hasnt thought of it yet. Anyway... Once you have the Orbital Fleet Manager, dont bother building your good ships to orbit the planet. I have a ship I call the "Blockade Runner"... basicly just a regular ship, with a cool defensive look, but I give it no engines,
Here are a couple of my "fun" designs. I just made these for the heck of it.. havent actually outfitted one with weapons and engines and used them in a game. (img not working so here is the URL) http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=killerchicken3jt.png The killer chicken ..mor
I dont WANT to be evil..but I also dont want penalties to my planets. I am having a hard time finding any reason to be good. I have not fully delved into all of the bonuses available to each alignment and seen how they effect gameplay..but from what I can tell by reading it, it seems like good civs have a SLIGHT bonus in their abilities, over evil civs. And good civs get the defense bonuses, which is fine except that defense is nowhere n
I dont think this is possible..havent been able to figure it out if it is. But, it would be nice if we could select other races "abilities" as our own for a custom race. I love the Yor abilties and starting techs ..and id really like my custom race to have the same.
Just a few questions about Diplomacy. 1. How do you make someone like you? Give them things for free? Accept their trade proposals? I dont quite understand this part since there is no real way to see if you are making progress with a race when you do something. 2. What effects an opponent's surrender? What I mean is..when someone surrenders..what makes them give their remaining planets to one race or another? is it based on w
Well ive had the game for about 2 days now, and I have played it an obscene amount of hours in that time. What is scary is that.. if I had spent this much time with any of my other games ive played, id have already mastered it, beaten it, and be digging for more ways to play it. I have barely.. BARELY..scratched the surface with GalCiv2. Most of my time up to this point has been spent cheating against the computer to try diffe
I cant figure out how to make troop transports effectively. 1. If I make them too large (1500), they take a long time to build. 2. If I make them too small (500), I end up short handed when it comes time to take over a planet. 3. No matter which avenue I go with, I never have enough. When I go on the offensive, I end up waiting and waiting and waiting to get a troop transport to a base that I already have locked down a
I dont understand Were there more PREORDERS than there was stock? Was there some huge error getting the game out? Why exactly does my gamestop still not have GC2? I mean..I would at least expect the game to be out in MOST places..not just Best Buy. What happened? A whole weekend reading posts from other people who get to play the game <img src="smiles/Mad.gif"
I was just reading the new gameplay Journal on the Alterians. ****IF YOU HAVENT READ IT AND DONT WANT TO KNOW HOW IT GOES.. READ NO FURTHER************************************************* . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ok so anyway. I was reading it and at the end when you no all is lost.. and you are just waiting to go down in a blaze of glory.. it is at that point that I like to throw in some cheats.. make an amazing
psssst... hey modders.. www.st-intelligence.com/ship_database/dom/st_dom.php
So, I havent played the game yet, so take this with a grain of salt. Anywho.. I understand that there are "only" 5 different ship designs in the game. I imagine that either through the community, or through our great developers here, we will eventually see more ship "templates" for the game. I was just thinking that it would be nice if all "excess" ship designs beyond the original five could be placed in a folder which the minor races could use to randomly select a type o
I havent played the game, but my biggest worry is that there wont be enough "randomness" from one game to the next. I have ideas on what I would like to see in the game to increase the "uniqueness" from one game to the next, but its annoying when someone who hasnt played the game starts posting ways to change it, or things to add to it So I was wondering if, instead, some of you who have
