So, give some props to Gamespy cause I wasnt PLANNING on buying Dark Avatar till I read thier praise of it . I was interested but not so interested that I was ready to jump into it yet. Anyway, so ive got Dark Avatar now, and I cant find any information on the changes. Basicly, i tried playing a game and realize that alot has changed and I dont know how it works. So im looking for som

My biggest hurdle is my economy. I start off fine.. and im usually leading or in the top few civs by mid game, but in the end game im just getting blown out of the water. One of my biggest issues I think is morale. If a planet's pop gets above 10-11b.. my morale just plummets. I usually have one "morale boosting building" per farm.. but have sometimes put 2 per farm (though only on really large planets. Can anyone give me some tips on how to get my

OK.. here is how I see it. Yes, I would buy a 9 dollar ship pack. Providing that it contained a good amount of new stuff, and that I could either buy it in a store, or order an actual CD from yall. I would not want it as a download. However, I see where people are coming from when they say that it would lead to negative publicity. Some people are real losers when it comes to stuff like this. The way I see it.. if it costs alo

I see no poll. I am looking at www.galciv2.com, and I am in internet explorer. On the left side of my screen from top to bottom I see the site navigation buttons from "Home" down to "Purchase", then I see the Forum Links to the different forums, then the Recent Posts on the forums. Then the Reviews that shows the icons/links to the different major reviewers.. then the Stardock, TG.net, Paradox icons.. and thats it. No poll.

Because the benefits of being good are really good Being bad has its benefits too of course.. as does being neutral. But in the end, it boils down to what benefits you want. Personally I like the good benefits, so I make good and neutral choices only... unless the drawback is too severe (rare)

I think (and I dont want to put words in the dev's mouth(s)) that surrendering is intended to be a "stick in the spokes"... it is there to shake things up. If a race surrenders to someone who, before then, wasnt really doing very well... suddenly that person may become a power in the universe. It keeps the game dynamic. This is exactly what happened in the match mentioned above. He was the most powerful.. he was "pwning" the

Personally.. I tend to do a little of both. When I get a large planet (12+)..but it doesnt have any good special tiles.. ill usually turn it into either an economic planet (Starport..1 factory..lots of markets, and a farm or two with a multimedia center or 3) Or I will just turn it into a population planet (starport..1 factory.. lots of farms and multimedia centers) Other smaller planets I will usually SOMEWHAT specialize with a starport, and then either lots of factories

I havent had the chance to test this personally yet.. BUT.. When you put a troop carrier in a fleet... the other ships "protect it" in a fight. What this basicly means is that the troop carrier is attacked last. So, I dunno if it will work or not.. but if you were to throw one troop mod on a cargo hull.. and then use the rest of the space on engines/weapons... you may be able to create a nice little "Weapons Platform(tm)" that the enemy ships will target last... but ca

on #1... some of this info can already be found in the stats/graphs tab.. im just proposing that it go slightly deeper..and be presented to the player in a more user friendly way. on #2... it doesnt HAVE to be funny . Personally I think the concept could add to the game. I wouldnt mind the funny state secrets thrown in.. but you could also discover things like "Netro Mancer is performing ille

My last two games have been night and day. In my previous game.. I did some "creative editing" to give myself a boost. because of that, I was easily leading in military power the entire game. I did not have war declared on me once.. and probably could have sat there quietly building an unstoppable armada, had I wanted to. This latest game I made myself weaker in many ways, but gave myself a great starting planet. because of this, I have been weaker militarily the entire

well you have to keep giving them stuff until the alliance option pops up on the trade window. The option will pop up when your relationship with them goes from Friendly to "Close". Im about convinced though that it is 99.999% impossible to form an alliance with a race unless you are a powerful player in the galaxy. In the game im currently playing..im at the bottom of the totem poll. The Torians are a strong race in this game.. they are the same alignment as me, a

you need to make a copy of your .exe file (this is the file in your main directory that opens the game up for you. NOT the file that opens up the little "autoexecute" window that allows you to launch the game or update it and such) So..you make a copy of that file.. then go into its properties and it will say something like "E:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" What you want to do is put "cheat" at the end of that. it should end up lookin

hm.. off the top of my head I cant really give you relations... but.. Tiny Small Medium Large Huge those are the ship sizes. As for their sizes.. it seems like each one has about a 10 point..to 50% boost on the previous. Its kinda hard to tell because as you research miniaturization, it increases your hull capacity. but Tiny has a size of about 20-25.. Huge has a size of about 130-170 i think.. small medium and large are in the middle the

Here is a suggestion. A tab in the Ship Designer where you can put your "most used" peices. This would go a long way towards organizing things for people.. and speeding up the process a great deal. additionally.. if you could take it a step further and allow the player to "lock" the size on items in their favorites tab. Not permenantly... just so that they can switch between different parts and mess with sizing.. and still come back and place a key part without having to

I thought this too... for a long time it seemed like every comp opponent was going Missles. So much so that I would immediatly move to the missle defense tech without even bothering to see what ships I was up against. All the sudden though...i rarely see missles and I see lots of beam weapons. I figure once I get to the point that I immediately start going for the shield tech.. they will switch to mass drivers.

Ok..I went about this the easy way. I just went in to my "My Games" folder in "My Documents" and edited the file for a custom race using notepad. I changed the PQ bonus to 900 and entered a game. my starting planet was class 100..and every tile was usable. Then i went and colonized the class 4 planet next to me.. it became a class 40..but only had 4 usable tiles. So..there may be a problem here. Im going to try again with a more "regular

I never build more than 2 farms on a planet.. and for every farm I build 2 multimedia centers. That is the only way ive found (outside of manipulating the tax rate) to keep morale up.

So, Another game I was keeping an eye on while I was following GalCiv2, was Heroes of Might & Magic V. I saw that they were having an open beta test so I went ahead and downloaded it, and whats the first thing I experience upon doubleclicking the Icon? That thing which turns any honest gamer's bowels to jelly... Starforce. An hour later I still havent managed to get my activation code approved. I just deleted it from my harddrive and checked it off my list of "future pu

Here is how I get an alliance if I really want one. Factors: 1. The race needs to be "Friendly" with you. (once they are close the alliance option is there) 2. Being of the same alignment helps. 3. You need to be semi-powerful. How to ally. 1. Get your economy going strong. 2. Save up lots of BC. 3. Pick the friendly race you want to ally with. 4. give them 1000bc 5. give them 1000 more bc. 6. give them 1000 more b

So I just started a new game and both of the minor civs that ive come into contact with have Beam Weapon Theory. They wont trade me this tech..saying that their advisors say not to give it to me. here is the problem... every computer opponent im playing against just happens to have Beam Weapon Theory.. coincidence? or are the minor races prejudiced against me? Wouldnt seem real fair for the comp to get the techs from the minor races that Im not allowed to trade for. <

Thats something I was wondering too actually. Does building a "capital building"..like the manufacturing capital on a manufacturing bonus tile.. increase the benefit of the manufacturing capital? or are you better off building the capital on a normal tile and putting a factory on the bonus tile? btw.. I had a class 8 planet in my last game that had the 700% manufacturing bonus on a tile.. that planet was CRAZY.. I could build just about anything i needed in 1 tu
