Help! Help! im being oppressed!

So in the game im currently playing, im being influenced to death by the Altarians. The problem is that im currently at war with the Korx, and dont really want to add another party to the mix. Additionally, I cant really afford to pump out constructors cause im too busy pumping out fighters to take out the Korx with, and to give to my Allies (well..Ally now... the Torians just surrendered..but they gave me their planets! i love those little bug eyed ****ers!)

SO!..what would you recommend here? Do I just need to completely re-do my economy... stop research and social production and get every planet pumping out ships and constructors as fast as possible so I can build some Influence starbases? That would really suck..I dont want to butcher myself...but I dont want those Sisco-lookin Altarians spreading their limp-wrist ideals on my planets either.

I am a newby, but it seems that you could destabilize them with espionage. What a rush playing a great game again.

I had this happen to me in the level before the DL campaign mission Siege. How can you deal with your Ally placing and upgrading an influence starbase right next to your home planet, without breaking the alliance and going to war?

I read a great solution the first day the game came out, but i have no idea who wrote it, but I will hare it

Put 2-3 fighters capable of defeating the starbase (IE, enough weaps/def to break its own) directly next to it, and another 2-3 fighters nearby, but not NEARLY as close as the starbase is.

Write down the ship/fleet numbers of all of these.

Gift the ships close to the starbase to an enemy of the altarians (Who are they at war with?) IF they're not at war with anyone, give the fighters as part of a diplomatic package to have another race declare war on them .

Once the new owner of the ships attacks the starbase, the ships should be weakened, and you can bring in the second group of reserve fighters to mop 'em up ^-^

[Ninja-Edit] Oh, and also, if your economy is great, you can just outright BUY the darned things from the Altarians. But wouldn't you rather just blow 'em up? [/Ninja-Edit]

Well I quit that game without finishing it. I am getting bored with Normal difficulty.. I know im going to win and it takes the fun out of it. I think im gonna boost it up to Tough for my next game.

Anyway.. since I didnt finish the game im not gonna write a story about it.

here is the short and skinny.

As I said..the Torians surrendered and they left me their planets. Well, they left me about 8 planets (pretty much doubled my planet count).. 2 of them were level 21!.. But.. the problem was that they were alllllllll the way on the other side of the galaxy from me.

I like to keep my empire pretty condensed so that I can make use of starbases more easily..and to keep them in range of my releif efforts if they get attacked.

Anywho.. here was my solution .

I traded one of the Torian planets (the one farthest away) to the Altarians in exchange for them attacking the Arceans (who were dangerously close to my new planets). As part of the deal..I also took 5 of his troop transports, and his influence starbase that was making things so difficult for me

I was pretty proud of myself after that deal. So I went and talked to the iconians and traded them a planet to go attack the Arceans too... then traded another one to the Yor to attack the Altarians heheheheheh.

I had the whole galaxy fighting each other while I sat back and built up my two new class 21 planets..and my military strength.

In the end, I used those 5 troop transports full of Altarian troops to go take over some Altarian worlds.. and then quit the game when I saw that I had it in the bag.
