Just curious.. how does Auto Survey work? Seems like every time I double click my flagship and try to tell it to auto-survey.. it says something along the lines of "There are no anomolies in the area, turning off autosurvey".. so.... what gives? I dont really care if there are anomolies in the area.. I just want the ship to fly around on its own and find anomolies where it can. If the Anomolies were visible on my screen..id just send it there myself.

Also.. researching sensors allows you to add the survey module to your own ships.

The Gamespy review is up. They gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and the editors choice award. http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/galactic-civilizations-ii/693427p1.html
Ouch... I know at least one person that is gonna be upset that their ships arent gonna work with the new version. (edit) or can you save them and paste them back in?
Well you dont really need to focus on military.. I usually build up enough military strength to make me a 3-4 attack fighter....build myself enough of those to scare off the bullys.. then focus on economy and diplomacy until im ready to start making big ships.
spent too long making that sucker to not bump this . Someone needs to at least say "hey, nice effort" hehehe.
I personally dont see the point. I mean its not like you are gonna have any enemies knocking on your door before you have time to research medium/large hulls. Unless you are the weakest military in the universe..then they may attack you early.
for the easy workaround.. if ya want to spend those 4 bonus points on something.. decide what you want to spend it on. Then leave the game.. go to your raceconfig in your my documents folder and edit the customrace file for the Terrans that should now be there.. make sure you have all the normal starting abilities..then add the ones you wanted to add and save it viola.. now just pick the terrans as a custom race instead of the "normal" way. I did this to edit my personal
I had them show up in one game..but i never saw them..i just got the message saying they were out there.
Your robot inspired me to try and make my own .. here is the result. http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mechrobot14jm.png http://img513.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mechrobot20qk.png
Movement isnt really an issue.. in the game where I allied with everyone to finish it.. I had transports that moved 12pc per turn and carried 1500 troops a peice. i could bump it up to 3000 troops a piece but that is overkill on some planets, so that wastes a troop transport. In my next game, im thinking im just gonna sit back and defend while I build up a huge force and about 30 full troop transports.. then make one big push and see what happens. As for the difficulty..
I was curious if later on this could be patched in or if it could be in the expansion. Ok..here is the deal. I love the game.. but I have yet to complete a military conquest. Why? because it TAKES TOO LONG. building a troop transport..filling a troop transport..placing it in a fleet.. flying to a planet.. attacking the planet (4-5 times if they dont have an orbital doodad).. sending in the infantry..choosing how to attack.. attacking.. possibly winning, probably losing
maybe you should quit your job and become an accountant.
Hrm.. I pasted the same address twice.. this time I really do give you "PTHHBBTT!" http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pthbtfinal3qs.png
Seems like all the cool designs out there are with the Terran shipset. Though I did see some cool ones with the Torian set. So I figured since no one else really seems to be posting pictures with the other ships.. id take a crack at making some Yor ships. couple things: 1. I love engines..if you dont like lots of engines you wont like my designs. 2. I didnt necessarily try to go for a "Yor" feel as much as just trying to make stuff that looked good. <br
What Maritimus said seems like the most likely case.
all of them unless they are really low class. I like to have the ability to pump out ships when necessary. plus.. even if it takes a planet 40 weeks to build something... in 40 weeks that is a ship that I wouldnt have had otherwise. usually.. if a planet is so small that you have to worry about whether or not you can afford to use a tile on a starport... then I doubt you would see any great benefit from putting a factory, research center, farm, embassy, whatever on it.
also.. I could buy a troop transport and take 1000 or so people off the planet. lowering the population seems to increase planet approval real quick and in a hurry.
well... The AI doesnt necessarily need to be able to do it because it is supposed to be a rare occurance. Its not like I could stock up 20 state secrets and eliminate a race.. id be lucky to get one or two per game. Also.. no it wouldnt really bother me if the computer could do it. Things like this are what keeps the game interesting. If there wasnt any risks or plot twists.. there wouldnt be any fun. and lastly.. just lowering the approval rating and incr
Yep.. ive had room on a ship before to put one of the older techs so that I could get one or two more damage out of it. it works fine the way it is now...the latest tech is at the top when you are building the ship.. not like you have to look for it.
thats supposed to be every 3, 6, 12, or 24 turns.
I heard that you guys at Stardock were not completely satisfied with the Espionage aspect of the game and may improve it in the future. I had a couple ideas of what I would like to see from espionage, so I thought id post it. 1. An Espionage report. It would be nice if, once you got a sufficient level in espionage on a race, you could opt to get an espionage report every 3, 6, 21, or 24 turns. The report, depending on your level, would include information such as.
its also important to note that the size of doing 1 damage continues to go down. like..for example.. Stinger 1 does one damage with 14 size.. stinger 2 is 13... stinger 3 is 12... stinger 4 is 11... then you get harpoon that does 2 damage for 20 space. So.. Harpoon is BIGGER, but you are actually paying 10 size for each damage point..so all in all, you get more damage for less space. it continues to do that all the way down the line, its just that it will co
Well, we know that every race has a different AI that plays the game a different way. I figured it would be nice if we ironed out just HOW it is that each race plays, so that you will know what you are up against when you see them. Here is what I know for sure so far. 1. The Terrans hang back and play well with others. You dont usually see the Terrans taking an aggressive stance in the game.. they will colonize their planets, protect their area, and focus on diplomacy an
