Be prepared for a long list of game stories from me my friends, as their exploits shall be known far and wide If I see them I will add links to them in this thread: A Collection of Game Play Examples .

What would you offer them? Cash? Techs? That will be of no use to them after their race is absorbed by you. They should surrender to the race that would treat their people well and can defend them but you can't express that in a trade. You don't get their starbases if they surrender to you, they are destoryed. You should get their starbases and more as discussed in this thread The Fortunes of War .

I made the cost of building soil enhancement extremely low. Since this applies to every civ equally Actually, it only benefits races that don't choose neutral alignment since neutral gets their planets instantly terraformed. Is there any way to force the AI to build a factory before anything else? <table cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cente

That said, one thing I want in the expansion is to be able to build obsolete production buildings, or add in "mini-factories" later on in the game that can be built very quickly but don't give any more production that the earlier buildings. Surely you're not saying on a planet without factories you would rather build an old Enhanced Factory rather

That's the beauty of this game. The ship components are so easy to mod, it would take less time for you to just go in and make the armor have whatever values you wanted than to write up a bug report/complaint about it. Unless you are playing Metaverse games!

The AI gets harder to beat with each level, that's the difference. On most video and computer games they don't tell you the exact bonus's the AI gets but it's obvious the AI gets harder to beat, your just the player you don't need to know how the games done just sit down, shut up and play the game. After completing the campaign at level Tough, I was l

Something everyone has forgotten to mention is the importance of sensor range to picking and choosing your battles. A fast ship/fleet can easily run out of movement just as an enemy ship/fleet comes into its sensor range; in that sensor range is short then the enemy may be able to attack you before you can escape. "Eyes of the Universe" will give all your ships 15 sensor range without wasting any space on sensors.

it woudl be nice to be able to search uncolonized planets too. During the colonization phase the explored part of the galaxy is only a small fraction of the map if you are playing against many other races. However, if you go to the ships/planets list (first button on the main window), click on the planets tab, and then on the ALL tab, does it show up

Finding a planet in gigantic maps prior to v1.2 was a real pain! In v1.2, when you leave the planet window, it moves you to the planet on the map. There are various ways to get to a planet's window: (1) if it appears in the CNN news, select it and click the GOTO button (2) go to the ships/planets list (first button on the main window) and click on the planet (3) go to the colonies tab (from the second last button on the main window) and click on the planet

I'm hoping Stardock will fix this micro-management pain in v1.3. As I explained above (in reply #20) there would be no need to add an auto-button. Just set the cash value to the computed limit rather than the current 100 default when the player clicks on it and do the same for influence points. What do you think CodeCritter?

Basically, the 'Core' ships are very poor I told know what the people at Stardock were thinking when they choose what to put on the CORE ships; they certainly were not think about SPEED! You can design war ships better than the AI. Pick a weak AI target that is close to your borders and not allied to a strong AI. Look at what weapons and defense

It has been about 6 months since I have been played a sandbox game as the Terrans but as I recall you start with HyperDrive but not the smaller HyperDrive Plus. Being the youngest of the major races it makes sense that they be behind in technology. It does not make sense that humans invented fusion power before the other races when you consider the Drengin discovered fission power before the Terrans discovered fire! No one is forcing you to play as human. I have only played as Terran

Yet another reason to cut out the middle man and go directly to the source! If you order directly from Stardock all the money goes back to them and helps fund their future projects.

Good news! Now if they would improve the trade window. Getting Best Trade Deal = Micro-Management Pain Link the Techs in the Trade Window to the Tech Tree ...and the AI options: Dynamic Game Difficulty Level Paul D.

If your worried about not knowing how to play you can always just get either the demo of the first game or the new one. I have not played GalCiv1 but from what I have read, game play is very different in GalCiv2. In GalCiv2, ship design plays a major part but in GalCiv1 is was all about getting larger hull ships. Furthermore, game play has change

At the Metaverse Galactic Library and The Galactic Core there are various ship models, some from Star Trek and Star Wars. You'll also want to add the Star Trek Race Logos .

...Oh yeah, something does need to be done about those influence points as well; trading it is entirely pointless because the AI values their own far too highly, while at the same time they place little or no value on your own. It's especially absurd when you consider the fact that the influence points are really just votes for whatever issues are in the next United Planet

What would be better is if the AI actually barttered. Say the AI will take 250 for a tech and I offer him 50. He responds with a message saying what an insult and then counters with 500. I can then either accept 500 or bump it up to 100. Again, he is offended and says he couldn't part with it for less than 400. My counter is 300 which he snaps up thinking what an idiot I a
