You get trading goods though.

Most of the strategies involve developing the planets better than the AI, which is exploitation because you can do something that the AI can't/doesn't want to do. Your strategy/excuse for MP reminds me of this: Brad, your quotes aren't working.
- Average map size - A ranking for most games played - Pull out the top X (to maybe 1000? ) - Rival (eg. the race you always try to blow up) - Top X for loses - Vetran for people who bought the game during the first month of its release. - Newbie for those who just got the game. - Favorite type of victory.
My apologies, it appears that a browser update was needed. The version of FF that I was using was 1.0.5 and the most recent is 1.5, guess that means that I've been staring at this monitor too long or the auto updater doesn't work. Everything seems to be in working order now. However, the Update Images tab of the myAccount page is not showing the labels of each picture correctly. It is showing a light gray text with while highlighting behind it, making it impossible to read without highlighting.
AI level doesn't change you score but time played does. Military conquest gets the most points while alliences gets you the least and in my opinion, research victory doesn't score enough points. Check out my metaverse game list if you want to try to find and paterns: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=820
Two problems: 1. When I revisit a page, I just get a black screen. 2. Some of the objects seem to be positioned improperely. Some times the Font/Size bar covers the post reply text, the metaverse medals cover the bottom of the post and the distance between date posted and member name is incosistant. Both of these problems ocure only in the most recient version of Firefox(updated it today just to be sure) and not in IE. I have java/java script enabled also and cleared my cach
My metavers game #15 is messed up, Its flagged and is a double instead of an int. http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=820 Would you fix it when you have the chance?
Good mod, my only complaint is that all of the race bonuses are the same.
From what I've found, star bases do affect planets but not too much. I just finished a game where I won a military victory without firing a single shot using culture bases. One of the best things to do is to sell a flipped planet back to it's civ for a lot of stuff. A few turns later, I own the planet again. Rinse and repeat.
These forums need more moderators.
It's worth noting that since DG has been demoted, I am now the only *active* volunteer moderator left. If anyone has been a particularly upstanding forumer you may be able to contact Sd about helping out. Maybe. I know at the very least there are a number of people that deserve promotion to higher ranks (though not neccissarily moderator status). <b
So, the question on my mind is of course, is a multiplayer mod something that can even be done? Cause the company doesn't seem to be in any real hurry to set up Multiplayer (why only ~8% voted for multiplayer is beyond me...what fun is a strategy game like this when you have to play alone?) A poll earlier that was just asking about
If AOL made Gal Civ 2 You spend 10 minutes trying to connect to the metaverse to find out that it is down for maintance. One of the main advertisement points is that you can use a mouse. When you first install GC2, it asks how old you are, if you are under 18 the game will not allow you to see ships blow up. If you choose an evil race, an evil plan
There is a plugin for Fire Fox that lets you view pages as it would in IE you can get it on the plugin page on the FF website. I haven't tried it so I can't say if it works or not. I'm using FF and cannot see the threads that are linked to on the galciv2 home page.
Question for anyone who bought GalCiv2 Digitally: What exactly do you download? A CD image that you burn? Or just the executable to install the game? Just would like to know if I can burn my download and store it with my GalCiv2 CDs as a back up. It contains an install file that automatically installs its self. I'm not sure if you could
Two questions: 1. Could you allow an option that lets the player play the non-expanded game after the game is installed? 2. What would happen if a civ's planet is taken oven through influence and the receiving civ doesn't have the tech to colonize it? Oddly enough, the addition that I'm most excited about is the "epic generator." I'm also amazed that no one has complained about MP yet.
You should have a poll that lets more then one option to be checked, I wanted to choose three or four of the options but I voted MP. When the first MP poll was released, 33% of the votes were for yes, in this one only 8% were. A check box vote would allow for a better understanding of what the players want. As for MP, a hot seat mode would be easy to add and good enough to satisfy the MP advocates. I hope this post goes through, I've been having problems posting on the boards.
It works fine for me too, however sometimes I just get a white screen when using tab browsing in the fourms.
Why not make the invasion also be turned based, the grid is all ready set up. You could land on one block per invasion module, and then choose how to attack each area( eg mass drive their ship yards so they can't build ships, or destroy their farms so they all starve). Does anybody find it a little unrealilistic to be able to kill 10 billion aliens and completely assimilate the planet in one week?
An online version would require some very complex classes to work well, I'm guessing that's why it would take up 3 or 4 "slots." I could see a hot seat mode not being very complex compared to a normal online game. If the game Ai truely treats all opponents equally and all of the races information is stored the same way, not much code should be need to be modified ( The only thing I can think of it the Diplomacy Menu). I could see a hot seat mode being more likely, which is good because that is
I would like to see a multiplayer mode, even if its just a simple hot-seat mode. Although if the expansion pack came with more stuff then just a multiplayer mode, that wouldn't upset me. The poll really should've had another option for ,"Yes if it comes with more than just a multiplayer mode." Also, it seems like this thread doesn't accurately represent the poll.
Looks interesting but I would like more information before I'm sold on the idea. I'm still hoping on an online addition to Gal Civ 2.
