sorry i got held up ive read all the replys. and i may say that you ahve all done an outstanding job of using google and cut/paste. there is post after post, pointing out everything from my lack of understanding, to my spelling errors, and even boasts of 'victory' as if the conclusions reached in this forum will shut the doors to collages across the world and God will be decla

you cannot even reach the speed of light as Einstein says that mass increases with velocity. As you approach the speed of light, mass approaches infinity which requires infinite energy to accelerate which is obviously impossible. So even reaching the speed of light cannot happen and yet we can see, and we can measure the speed of light (photons

dont take offence richrf (or anyone else that believs in evoultion over creation) i dont take offence at being called 'stupid' or having my arguments called "pretty ridiculous". lol its not the first time ive had this kind of a debate. im not really trying to prove anything except to make people question their faith in science to provide all answers to everything. science is just one aspect of the whole human condition. its valuable and provides us with many thi

he answered nothing, he faild to cite any case of one species evolving into another one. there was alot of flash and thunder and if you read it it looked impressive, what with citing 'new' bacteria created and what not, but that bacteria was still just a bacteria it didnt evolve into a house plant. the argument that i could gather was that the bacteria didnt need to evolve into a house plant so it stayed a bacteria. then perhaps he could give a theory as to why the original 'slime' ne

so Info warfare tactics would have been useless use the tidal disrupters, its got a huge advantage factor and only destroys improvments and then just buy the improvments back you want. thats what i do on single planet conquests anyhow. you know that odd minor race thats buggin you or the one enemy colony in the middle of your awsome empire you

im perhaps not understanding the whole 'micro' 'macro' evolution thing. it sounds to me like so much noise ev·o·lu·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (v-lshn, v-) n. A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. See Synonyms at development. 1) The process of developing. 2) Gradual development. Biology. I think i missing something about this morale thing.... its just based on the fact you get population bonusus for having a certian moral level is all. i target 100% but ill settle for 75%. and since they changed the population growth in 1.1 its actualy importiant to concider now how fast your population grows. <TABLE cell

3) Rsearch and change to advanced governments so true, even researching republic can take you from a 50BC debit per turn to a 30 BC credit per turn. my general path is that i get to second stage factorys, then max out the economic buildings then go for atleast democracy (i run high taxes so i like the political capitol on earth)

But the fact we evolve on a day to day basis is proven. For one thing, we have dogs, foxes, wolves, coyotes, dingoes, etc. All of them are canine, from a single ancestor group. prove that, show me the records of the original dog that all other dogs evolved from. and i want actual proof too not someones theory. i want to see the bones of the ori

Microevolution: FACT. Creationism being taught as science while banning "evilution" is teaching kids blind obediance without bothering with knowledge actual there is no proof what so ever of evoultion, there is theory and observation, that lead to opinions that evoultion is the way that life works. ill say right from the Start that i

when you want to conquer the squirrels before they steal your technology now THAT was funny, those squirrels alone are what keep me playing. its even better when i tell you that i live in the country and have constant fights with real squirrels about not leaving my bird feeders alone. i literaly often think to myself the b

Nothing. Duh. If something were moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light along with you, you'd see it dimly with a reddish tint due to the wavelengths being effectively lengthened relative to you. ahhh but i didnt say "significant fraction' i said AT the speed of light. and in order to see anything behind you , what you were seei

Here's a tip: we're talking about a video game in which things like warp engines are part of the technological landscape. If you have a problem with pretending that something can exceed the speed of light, you're in the wrong place. Either way, an argument based on lightspeed as the absolute upper limit is utterly misplaced here. no one was arg

DoW was great imo. thing is the 'expantion' was a classic case of milk more money from expantion itis. looks too me like the built a game, had 10 races, and a ton of storyline, choped about 6 of the races and half the story lines, saved them for the 'expantion' and wated to rake in the cash. the original game was amazing i REALLY enjoyed it (and im a hard gamer to please), but the expantion sucked. the new 'race' wasnt a step forward it was a step back. it would be as if yo

i play on slow or very slow too, i like it when all the tecs mean something, if i play on normal or faster then you just blast through the tecs and you never have time to catch up, i found myself just wating to research everything THEN build my empire. why bother building a 1 laser fighter when you can wate 20 turns and build a doom ray battleship? slow is good

ok in my lst post i gave two different reasons for why mass drivers dont work as you think they should, the first half was in a hypothetical 'future' and the second was based on todays reality. ill try again first in the 'future'. in order for a ship to travel at close to light speeds it will need to have some form of shielding against normal interstellar matter (rocks, dust, asteroids, comets, and so on), that was my point by saying that there would allready be SOME form o

actualy mass drivers would be all but usless, given the fact that a ship moving at almost the speed of light in normal space would need to be shielded against dust particles i cant think of a way you could build mass drivers that couldnt be shielded against, just normal navigation deflectors would be enough. the thing that gives a mass driver its punch is its speed (based on what i know of current mass driver research). but once you develope a system to shield a ship against all forms of matter

i go with good myself usualy but they are all about equil in advantages. i could (and have) just as easy choose neutral or evil though. but since good can research nano rippers, add that to the awsome defence tech you get playing good then you can for the most part hold your own against the evil weapons tecs. *shrug* it really IS all up to you there are no disadvantages to taking any of the 3 except not being 'liked' as evil for what ever that matters

i say all ya gotta do is add up the total attack rating for both sides, then subtract the total defence rating, then whats left (if any) you strip off the total hit points. no need to decide who goes first. for example fleet 1 : 20 attack lasers, 10 defence lasers, total of 300 hull fleet 2 : 20 attack lasers, 10 defence lasers, total of 300 hull 20 (attack) - 10 (defence) = 10 hitpoint damage, 290 hull left for both sides after one round. neither si

Does the 4 starbase limit apply to all starbases or just on per civilization basis? In other words, can I have 4 in a sector that has 4 from another civilization? the last i knew , no, there is a 4 SB limit per sector, no matter who owns them (that info could be out of date though, try it in game and find out for sure)

i must prove my nerd-status, however, by pointing out that ST books are totally worthless, being non-canon. actualy most of the book were. and all of Peter Davids certiany were since he worked close with Mike Okuda, whome he credits in most of his forwards. and he is the main source of Borg information in the books. <br/

>How do I upgrade Starbases with the defensive and offensive upgrades? The Borg ARE stupid, though, so if the weapon disparity isn't too severe the Shadow could take it with judicious hyper-cloaking. the borg would loose about 2 ships, and then look out, they would have figured out the weapon, made a better one and then proceed to kick major ass. till a cat farted in the engin room and the smell stuned the entire
