i just thing the AI should go after the SB more, and in a more intelligent way. if they are under influence then they should be attacking influence SB, if they have a shot at resource SBs then they should be planing how to take them out, NOT sending swarms of no chance fighters in either but actualy building ships capable of defeating them. id almost like to see the spying come into play here, along with stealing tecs perhaps a random chance

good points about the American 'subversion'. i susspect that this extends from the Marshall Plan, along with Americas rebuilding efforts in Europe post WWII came our culture in large doses. the 'strong' allways influence the 'weak'. (no slight intended im speaking in the most literal sense of things, not cultures) its helpful to thing of the whole course of western culture though in this 'debate'. take a look at the Roman culture, large sect
France WOULD be a good example. ................ to prove my point. the very fact that they DO hang on to their 'culture' in the face of an overwhelming 'globalization' would argue in favor of my statment. and to the British person. all i can say is i live IN America and there is far from a single culture here. i have family in all 'corners' of the country and having visited most of them on varous vacations i can tell you that how people ive
ive seen taht event for the first time today, a minor race stoll all the korex tecs and wanted to trade them to me for a planet. or the message said more or less that, cant recall the exact wording but it said they were in the market for a planet or some such. couldnt work anything out with them having to do with any of my planets, only other thing i can think of is perhaps takeing the other planets in their home system and using them to tra
the whole idea of influence is crazy to me anyhow. ive been watching/reading about 'other races' since i was a weeee baby 30 something years ago. and i can tell you right now ive never seen another race that id trade being human for except maybe "Q" from ST TNG. and 'hes' not actualy a race. races surrendering without a shot fired is kinda lame to me, id believe that you could quicker just BUY a planet out from under them before id expect a
1) load em up and take a look. the descriptions such as "4 corners" arent hard to figure out what your getting 2) the taxe rate slider is total tax your charging your people. (higher tax = lower moral) you get population bonusus if you keep moral at 75 or better, and a larger bonus for keeping moral at 100% the next slider down is your total economy slider, it decides the overall funding of all your projects, social/millitary and
ive noticed that the UP has regular revotes on this proposition and the one about evil trade routs. ive seldome had to endure a SB limit for more than 2-3 years. even the 'perminent' one. given the fact that in the 1.X build and lower the AI doesnt upgrade SB worth a damn, i would seem to be aimed at the heart of the human players. wate and see maybe it will get fixed. if the AI actualy upgrad their SBs in the patch (as promice
man i love these dev storys, i read them and just get sucked into the plot line. i wish you could code the game somehow to give us the same sence of epic scope that threads like these do. "Valheru station is open to attack! It helps power all the Dominion core worlds. And it's soon gone." my games arent nearly that exciting, generaly mine is starbases 100457 explodes because i lack a battlestation upgrade <img src="h
my choice is do away with expantions totaly and just make it all one game with a fixed PP of ohhh $60 im fast becoming fed up with buying a game, and then an 'expantion' a few months later. ESPECIALY when the original game is clearly left unfinished just so we can get an 'expantion' that does nothing really but simply finish the 'original' i think, no i KNOW that game makers need more cash for what they do, the days of cheap budge
heh change the AI setting to higher than 'normal' and give it a run. as for the stock humans, the story line is that it was us humans that had the brains to build the first hyperdrive, and since we are a 'child' race in compairson to the other races we have a large diplo advantage since there are no thousand year grudges attached to us. truly though i havent seen any of the races 'advantages' last much beyond the first 100-200 tur
alot of how the AI ends up is really in how hard you set their AI intelligence. the higher you set it the better they are at taking advantage of their pics, as well as other in game factors , IE building the right improvments on bonus planet tiles and such. i play on normal AI and its really a crap shoot as to who or even IF anyone dominates, you can bet that the drengi/yor allways end up with a pisser of a millitary, and the torians (who ALLWAYS race
i think that the majority of the trouble with this issue is that the controlls are empire wide. rather than based on each planet. people are making the case that its a bug based in the view of one planets production, when the sliders are controlling the whole empire, compound that with the fact that while the mechanics of the game would suggest one thing (IE moneys example) the implimentation is in reality a different way (IE cayotes explination). its working fine as it is,
ive found that most of the racial pics can be hugly negated (or boosted) based on your galaxy starting conditions. without giving away to much of the game, its safe to say that what you pic (with the exceptions of a very few) as racial bonusus are more in the naure of just that, bonusus, there is no wrong choice, you cant be hurt by picking or NOT picking any given ability. its just that some are more valuable than others in a general kind of way. just as a for instiance, you can choo
my moment was more in the naure of a 'bug' that was compounded with an amazing amount of stupidity on my part later. i have played the sand box mode for a few weeks now, had all the enemy AI reset , everything from racial pics to their colors. i play mid size maps and allways play with the torans, drengi, yor, and altarans, and swap out the 5th and 6th place enemys at random, depending on my mood. ANYHOW. i finaly decide to try ou
no modual for fleet controll samuria, but if you follow the chain of starbase defences even to the second tier they become quite powerful. with max starbase defence they get like 80 something attack and high 70s defence. playing on normal ive yet to see anything but the odd pirate (who for some reason, much like any new minor races appearing, allways show up in ships at my tech level and just smash the AI lol) that can tackle one of those 'death stars'
i kinda liked MOO 3, atleast what i could see it was supposed to be anyhow. it had so much potential. i wish that some big money company would make a game like this and put in some polish. you know, make you feel like an emperor instead of a construction forman. GS 2 has done a great job with the ships and a fair job with the planet development (not being able to set individual planet tax rates is driving me nuts and makes the triple food bo
hmm D/L the beta today and the only thing i really REALLY noticed (dont know if its a bug or what but its a total pain in the ass) is that its taking forever to generate a new game with Ctrl-N now. used to be less than ......... ohh 5 or 6 seconds, now its upwords of 45 seconds to a minute. i sure hope that its a bug because given the huge numbers of truly crappy starts the game generates, what with all the other flaws of it ignoring little things like
the game is full of 'bugs' no doubt. and debate over whos game has more 'bugs' is stupid. the good news is that stardock fixes the stuff. i watched it with GS 1. the people at stardock stand behind their work 100%. ive said in other threads that i think that the game wasnt finished when it shiped. and ive yet too read anything that changes my mind on the subject. just scaning the HUGE list of 'fixed a bug' items in the upcoming patch is enou
"you either have a 30in LCD and a color laser printing press or the luxury of cash." the latter, but the real reason was i played EverQuest for years and got tired of lag lol. the bottom line is you "could" build a computer for thousands less, i cant, i have the cash to spend you dont, all things ballance out. i can, if i want to, take the time to learn how build a truck for thousands less than i paid to the dealership too but who has the ti
ive only got 3 suggestions id really love to see. 1) more UP interaction, both in the ability to become the 'chairman' (thus being able to select from a list of possable voting topics), and for the topics to actualy mean something. as it stands now the only two that even semi matter is the trade rout limitations , only on evil races (major) and the amout of guns on transports (minor , havent seen any transports with guns yet, even when it pa
i dont know about the AMD , but my intell dual core system, for most of my older games (starwars knights of the old republic comes to mind off hand) i had to roll back my Nvidia drivers to the 77.77 series to get the games to run. on the other had i didnt have any trouble with GS 2 with either set of drivers. best bet? stop buying AMD crap <im
aye as ender and mark said make sure you research them and then double check that they are not in your list. the sourt functions for ship items sucks. they dont resolve out in the right order. seems to me that the latest and greatest should be on top of the componant list AND you should be able to clear the old weapons/armor/support pods out of the parts list when your never going to use them again. but anyhow, its possable its there but ju
it was the all the extra crap like the screen and sound system
its been my experiance that the AI is all over the map so to speak. im alot like Corsulian in my game play style, i play in mid size maps with scarse stars but lots of planets, usualy 5 civs are my stock compitition, 3 of the 'evil' races and 2 other 'good' ones to compliment me. but my 'challange' in the game now is to set up and actual galaxy along the lines of start trek or starwars and so on, not C&C in space. i play as normal AI levels and i find
its not your machine. im playing on a 3 month old $6,000 alienware system and i have trouble with the FOW. same as your and also troubles when i add the ultimate sector scaners to a starbase, the FOW actual fills back in to the same size as it was before any scaners. there is also a glitch with the trade rout lines not dissapearing when evil races are forced to cut routs due to a senate vote. just reload the game from a save and i
