It's comments like these that make me want to not work on the AI at all. I actually never said you should invest anything further in the AI, so I would be actually very glad when you stop with your hopeless attempts. I even havent asked for tactical combat here. The only thing I have asked for was Multiplayer. But this was long time ago during

When even my 12 year old nephew figures out that first-strike pwns the AI....I think I can call it broken.
Actualy I dont see the point of all of you who say tactical combat would be easy to exploit AI.... Lets face it fanbois. The pre-1.2 combat system of GalCiv2 was simply broken. Even without tactical combat. But I cant see that many who complain here about tactical combat have complained about the poor militaristic GalCiv AI.
Maybe, Frogboy did subconciously bias the survey by rounding up the multiplayer survey cost to the real value, instead of stating the marketing price point as he did with the other surveys. It may not even have been intentional, but may have been a 'freudian" slip or poker tell. Thats it. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Lau
I REALLY hope that's a joke, especially since your own picture is missing. No, no, no. Thats obviously no joke. I can see all pictures here. And a driver update fixes any trouble related stardock.
NTJedi's repeated posts already consume 15 slots. No further expansions of your spam please. IIRC Brad Wardell already proposed somewhere to include hotseat FOR FREE in late 2006. Since you guys always post here that you are willing to pay for it......he prolly smells cash and changed his mind. Thanks.
to all those people who are going on about how a human player using a small fleet to destroy a large AI fleet, the only times i managed that in MOO2 was when i had vastly superior technology, as in Hyper-advanced 30 everything. And the majority of the ex-moo2 players on this board are these kind of bunker noobs who always reach these stages. (W
Update your video drivers.
multiplayer in a turn-based strategy game = pure torture Kasparov prolly thinks the same. Mebbe the reason he stopped with chess.
Sorry, but there are already simulators that run either near-instant or do 10,000 simulations (or both) AFAIK the other simulators dont include tools to calculate Nash equilibria. And it consumes time to do this manually. So Veblen's work is one step ahead. Brilliant idea, I would like to see the deta
As long as we're throwing credentials around, I'm also a programmer with more than 20 years experience (the getting-paid-for-it kind of experience), and while I generally agree that gameplay AI is very complex, it is my opinion that a good strategic AI is overwhelmingly more difficult than any tactical AI, and the GC2 strategic A
...or our lovely German friends are going to be kind to people that massacre their language? At least those with a 3-digit IQ. And now STFU.
...and translate it to having computer players that "feel" a lot like human beings (except minus the disconnects... And I actually thought the GC2-crashes were designed to simulate these bailers.
dont complain please unless you have the newest version. And when you have the latest version, dont complain because it is just beta.
Maybe it SHOULD BE I agree. Chess AI is also purely scripted in the OPENING. Why? Because it is stronger then. And in contrast to Brad the programmers of the chess AI admit that the strategical part of their AI is still retarded. (Chess AIs are able beat humans in strategical sound positions because
Actually, all I have is Windows Moo2 It's all that's on my disk. I'd like to be able to obtain the DOS version, but I don't know where. There is still a simple solution (works for 99% without pure dos version): See steps 3 and 4 in this http://masteroforion2.blogspot.com/2004/02/moo2-online
Don`t loose patience.
When MOO2 came out with multiplayer capabilities I jumped at the chance of playing against a human with the tactical combat. The multiplayer was just too damn slow. the win version of moo2, i.e. orion95.exe was laggy like hell (up to minutes between turns). And you prolly tried this version
Same tactic is popular in moo2 multiplayer (late game). The usual counter is to research warpfield interdicters beforehand. Warp Field Interdicter: Creates a warp destabilizing field around the star system in which it is built. Generates a field 2 parsecs in radius about the system that slows all enemy movement to 1 parsec per turn.
Hi Cpt Greenwood. LTNS
Erst lesen, dann kaufen. Erst lesen, dann posten. Es gibt genuegend MP-threads hier.
MP killed MoO3. But that is what the publisher demanded. A "real" MP game, rather then a sit and think game. Well, mebbe they had in mind to produce a "real" MP game. But lets point out here....even in MP it sucks hardcore. They simply failed everywhere. How do I know when I have never tried seriously? Well, I know several hardcore Moo3-Mp-Players. Even the top-ranked Ladder-Players. They came back to Moo2. Some of them told me that m
Hold on a second, the only difference you state between LAN and online multiplayer is knowing the individuals your playing against. Yes, when GalCiv LAN will be compatible with kali or hamachi. Shouldnt be a big issue. So you can still play your buddies without LAN. And some non-xenophobic people can even try to play against strangers. I also think that adding multiplayer wouldnt force stardock to irradicate more bugs/is
Alright, time for me to chime in on this. I see two types of multiplayer that could be possible with GalCiv2: 1. LAN-only multiplayer (aka old school multiplayer). Everyone would get their own race and have at it. 2. Internet multiplayer. Again, everyone gets their own race and off you go. In my opinion, #1 would be pretty easy to implement. Since you're all on the same LAN, you likely know everyone and it would be easy to
I usually play lan games as I still live in the land of dial-up. But it's good. Played lots of intercontinental 4ways with some americans on dial-up. Absolutely playable. Do you play the dos or win version? Intercontinental dos should be even faster than win in LAN
