Nine posts and noone mentioned George R R Martin!?
Ugh, no. The books are bad enough. With respect to you and the rest of his fans, I can't stand his writing.
A TV-series by HBO is in the works. One season for each book.
Words cannot possibly express how appalled I am to hear this, especially seeing how there are so many better authors out there who actually deserve to have their work translated to the small/large screen. :(
Just got back from seeing it a couple hours ago, and all I can say is: Wow. Of course Ledger's portrayal of the maniacally genius Joker was nothing short of outstanding, but I think a big "kudos!" has to go out to the main cast all around. Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, and Gary Oldman really stepped up, and I felt that Aaron Eckhart put in an especially fine performance as Harvey Dent. This movie did almost everything right: The action scenes & cinematography was top-not
Uff da. I don't think I can choose one favorite. For me, it would be a four-way tie between Asimov, Stephen R. Lawhead, Steven Pressfield, and Tolkien.
EA simply doesn't care for their customers and they only care about money, which makes them bastards. EA should look at how Stardock treats customers and then they could learn that the customer is very important unlike the money. Stardock gives the customer what they want based on platyer theadback, EA on the other hand gives the customer what EA wants.
I think it's safe to that Stardock actually cares a great deal about money. (If they didn't, everyone there would be ou
I never had any problems with Charter back when I was living in rural Minnesota. I would argue that at the very least, they're better than Comcast or Qwest.
Didn't know Charter was in England. They're fairly big here in the States.
He said *New* England, not England. ;p
Necro-posting = bad. :(
First off, I admit I'll miss his antics, if only for their sheer entertainment value.
As much as I think Jack is full of crap I am concerned that the next nut that takes up his 'cause" may be more compitent and that could be bad for all us gamers.
Well said, Chip5541. While I detest Thompson and his tactics, at least he was doing the anti-gaming bloc more harm than good while he was their most visible presence. Now the possibility exists that he
In approximate (descending) order: 1.) Star Trek TNG: Birth of the Federation 2.) Medieval Total War (1) 3.) Shogun Total War 4.) GalCiv 2 5.) Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 6.) Lord of the Realm II 7.) Neverwinter Nights 8.) Star Trek: Klingon Academy 9.) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 10.) Command & Conquer: Red Alert (1)
Yeah, I love Dave Kosak. A very funny man, is he.
From the few reviews I've seen of the game, my impression is that Diplomacy (by Paradox Interactive) is actually pretty awful. Gamespy [link="http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/diplomacy-2005/665958p1.html"]gave it only a half-star[/link] -- the first time they've ever rated a game that low.
Strategy titles are my favorite by far -- they easily make up at least 70% of my game collection. RPG's and combat sims (such as Klingon Academy and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron) are a distant 2nd and 3rd, and I don't really play much in the way of other genres.
Sorry about your dog, man. You wouldn't think that a pet dying should affect you as much as it does, but it's always a hard loss to bear. My condolences.
Gabal, does Born of Blood introduce ground combat at all? Or is blowing away enemy planets still your only option?
Never mind. Saw the answer [link="http://www.wargamer.com/news/news.asp?nid=5636"]here[/link]. :)
Interesting. Out of curiosity, why is there a new demo out anyway? Was there something wrong with the original demo?
The first PC game I ever played was Castles II. The first PC game I actually purchased and played on my own computer was Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Ah yes, good times, good times.... :D
Great job, Stardock! Let's hope the perfect scores keep rolling in. :CONGRAT:
Imperium Galactica 2: While it's an older game (it was released in 2000), it's still a pretty solid 4x title, and (unlike most space strategy games), it's in real-time. If you can handle the graphics of an 8 year-old game, odds are good you'd enjoy it. :)
Well let's see: First, Stardock has to get The Political Machine out in time for this year's election, after which Brad's putting virtually everyone on the (as yet to be announced) fantasy TBS game. Plus there's Society, which while it likely won't be coming to fruition anytime soon, they still have to try and work on that when they can. Not to mention GalCiv 3 (hopefully someday).... ;) Yeah, I don't think they're going to have time to make EotFS 2 anytime soon. Even if they did
Congrats, Stardock; you've done it again! :D
Also did anyone else notice that the text review alluded to galciv III - I think they might be mistaken about it being next in the pipeline.
Yeah, I saw that too. Unless Brad knows something we don't, then I agree there was a miscommunication somewhere along the way. :p
Circle Pines, MN originally from Staten Island, NY via Anaheim, Ca.
Good gravy, there certainly do seem to be a lot of Minnesotans on these boards (I live over by Minneapolis). :) How on earth did you wind up in our fair state (via Staten Island and Anaheim, no less)?
Happy Birthday. This is the first case of truly appropriate thread necromacy that I've seen. Good bump.
I second that. Happy Birthday, mate! :CONGRAT:
I think it's a given that Stardock would like to make a sequel....eventually. As pndrev pointed out, however, they have more than enough on their plates to keep themselves occupied for the next few years. Given that, I think that realistically we won't see GalCiv 3 until at least 2011 -- maybe even later, in all honesty.
Darn it Brad! You just beat me to posting it myself. ;) Congratulations, Stardock! :CONGRATS:
In the interests of full disclosure, please note that I've not necessarily played some of these strategy games a whole lot, but I've at least taken a crack at (and in most cases, have also owned) all the ones listed. Also note that I'm excluding any games for which I've only played the demo version (so I'm not going to list Dominions 3, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc.): Herzog Zwei (the forefather of the modern RTS, playable only on the Sega Genesis) Command & Conquer: Re
