Holy crap! I didn't even know until yesterday that a US/Canada version of the UE was even coming out. I just happened to stop by my local Software Etc. yesterday afternoon, and asked if they knew whether the UE would ever be coming to retail. Imagine my immense delight & surprise when they told me they would have it the next day! I reserved a copy immediately, and picked it up this evening. Oh, happy day!! [e digicons][/e]
Awesome, Jrla21 . Enjoy! :)
Outstanding news! Will keep my eye open for EU3 Complete. :D

No, strike that- It is one of the best already; it would become THE best.
QFT. The lack of controllable space battles is really the only major complaint I've ever had with GalCiv 2, and even that is largely outshone by everything else. The strong diplomacy system, the amazing level of customization options, and the superb A
I still play Birth of the Federation a lot, even though it's 10 years old now. If you like the idea of a Star Trek strategy game, then you would do well to find a copy. :D
Congrats Stardock!! [e digicons][/e]
Nice victory, Brad. :) So what happened with the Thalan, then? What did they do wrong that they were overrun by the Terrans so quickly, despite having the Hyperion Matrix?
Nice game, Brad. :D One question, though: What happened to the Arceans and Drengin? Were they destroyed by the Terrans and/or Thalan as well?
I haven't read the Silmarillion; it's intimidating for some reason, but the other books were great (LoTR and The Hobbit).
I think the problem with the Silmarillion is that it reads more like a history textbook than a piece of fictional literature, which can make for some rather dry reading at times. I myself didn't read it in its entirety until earlier this year -- I'd tried twice before in the last 10 years,
Ha! Nice. I particularly love Zargon0225's getup. He looks wonderfully creepy. [e digicons][/e]
Isaac Asimov's Robot and Foundation series. Now *that's* some epic science fiction! I'll also strongly second Weber's Honor Harrington novels. Although I can't compare it to the Horatio Hornblower books (I've not read them yet), it's definitely a great space opera series. :D
Kim Stanley Robinson. I don't know that many Lawhead fans, at least that poke their heads up online. Kudos!
Awesome, dthif1980 ! Glad to hear you're liking it so far. :)

Fascinating, Komnenos . You're a pretty good storyteller. :)
Farseer Trilogy for me...damn those 3 books are incredible. Though maybe more gritty than epic.
Damn, you must be some kind of masochist then. I can't stand Robin Hobb. Don't get me wrong: Her overall storylines are interesting enough. However, she makes her characters so damn unlikable, I find myself literally wishing they would die and/or receive the comeuppance they so richly deserve.
I really don't like this trailer. The ridiculously fast "music", sparse dialogue, and flashes of combat (which didn't give me a sense of what was going on) make it seem like yet another adreneline-filled action-fest, and nothing like ST.
QFT I was cautiously optimistic about the movie until I saw the second trailer. Now I'm more than half-expecting/dreading that it will be a steaming pile of spunk.&nb

Meh. Wasn't really that funny. I appreciate the sentiment, though. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Incidentally, it turns out that wasn't the entire article. Here's the whole thing : Stardock's recently-announced Elemental: War of Magic is the developer's own internal creation -- but it's no secret that the Michigan-based company originally intended to secure the sequel r

Well that's certainly interesting. I know Brad had at one stated an admiration for the Master of Orion series, but I didn't realized he'd actually pitched making a sequel to Atari. A pity that they don't appear to have ever responded to his offer. EDIT: Changed the link to the full article. <
Mithel : Brad has already said on previous occasions that GalCiv2 won't be getting multiplayer (in either a patch or expansion), so I guess you'll have to wait for GC3. Now as to when *that* comes out is anyone's guess. Brad's already stated that we won't see a GalCiv sequel until the next decade, which means 2011 at the very earliest. Realistically speaking, I'd say 2012 or 2013 is more likely.
Unfortunately, vieuxchat has a point. If you don't have at least 4 players (and even that's pushing it, as 6 is much closer to ideal), then you're not going to get the full experience of playing TI like you should.
