Apologies if this was already posted elsewhere, but I found it pretty interesting. Brad mentions (among other things) a few of the details regarding Stardock's still-to-be-announced fantasy strategy game. Enjoy! Link

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that. LEI was only an okay game, but it had a lot of potential. It'll be a pity if Pollux goes under -- they're clearly gamers at heart just as we are. (:(

Ooh! Pretty ships! :)
The fantasy game has been announced. Stardock is collaberating with Gas Powered Games to build the game. So far the screenshots look pretty cool and the overview of the game looks interesting.
Stardock has previously stated that Demigod is *not* their new fantasy TBS game. That still has yet to be announced.

Heh. Yeah, I just downloaded the free version yesterday. I'm normally not one for racing games, but I confess I've been having a blast playing it so far. :)
Hmm, while I'd like to think it's an official announcement of the fantasy game, "The PC game industry is about to change..." seems to imply it'll be something else. Maybe the new digital distribution system (Impulse is it?). Hmm, a tool for buying things called Impulse.
I suspect Cauldyth here has probably hit the nail on the head. Brad's been dropping hints about Stardock's new distribution system Impulse (which will replace Stardock Central) for a while now, a

Well Frogboy/Draginol has stated they plan to make an announcement about the game sometime this spring, so I would guess that we will in fact see some news on it in either May or June. :)

It's funny -- in a way, I almost miss his lunatic rantings. It's actually sort of a pity that he's been so quiet lately, as he really helped discredit other anti-game critics (just by association) when he was mouthing off all the time.
yea but I have noticed that stardock does their best to keep their promises.
I think Leinad0033 is probably well aware of this, and was simply being ironic when he said that. By pointing out what most game developers do (generate a lot of empty hype), he was saying that Stardock doesn't do that -- which is precisely one of the reasons we're so fond of them. ;) @Frogboy: Gah! I understand your reasons for not announcing anything about your
You just linked us to Lost Empire.Stop framing a game you haven't even played.WWW LinkAs you can see, the true Lost Empire : Immortals will be released tomorrow (11th March). We have before us either a liar, or a stupid man who can't tell the difference between two different games.
Yep. Looks like he purchased the original Lost Empires (which by most accounts is indeed a somewhat flawed game). It's too bad that he wasn't paying attention and didn't wait another couple d
Where's all the media coverage for this game anyway? I'm sure I remember seeing more for Dark Avatar.
I suspect a number of Stardock personnel have been a bit *ahem*...."distracted" by Sins of a Solar Empire the last few months. ;) And of those that haven't, most of the rest are probably now working on their fantasy strategy game. I've often pictured poor Cari working on TotA by herself, with Brad now frantically cramming to get in the AI updates.
Master of Orion 3...if you're ready to try it (learning curve is very steep) you'll discover a universe...so many options and so much room for your imagination. It has to be patched though to be good (official patch + Bhruic's patches at least).Cheers
Gah! Do not listen to this madman! MOO3 is the spawn of the very devil, I tell you! The devil!! (Sorry Anguille, you know I had to say it.) ;p Yes I jest, but only in part. I largely agree with [B
But thing is not always fun to play such AI- he plays to win and players loses. Players dont like that, especially when they play single player .
Now see, I *am* a person that likes it when the AI can beat me, especially if it's not cheating. One of the reasons I enjoy games like GalCiv 2, Shogun Total War, & Medieval Total War is because the computer actually has a chance of defeating me. Maybe my views are in the minority, but I love strategy games where

I think I might've posted in this thread before, but I'm 31 (which is hard enough to believe!). :p
Well, after following this lenghty thread for a couple of years I feel I can confidently claim the title of oldest member.I am 68. Nice to be number one at something
Actually, I'm pretty sure there's a woman in her 70's who plays GalCiv 2. I remember her posting here once or twice -- I believe in a thread discussing game graphics -- and menti

Yeah, I read Michael's article earlier today when it was referenced in the Wargamer forums. I have to admit I was shocked that the percentage of piracy for PC games was that high -- it scarcely seems believable! :SURPRISED: There's a couple things I don't understand, however. First of all, why is it that computer games can be pirated but not console games? What makes PC titles so much easier to crack than the same title on the PS3 or 360? And perhaps most pertinently, why can't P

I just got done reading this article at Gamespy, which talks about Soren Johnson's speech at this year's GDC and his views on coding game AI. I don't know whether I completely agree with everything he says, but it was an interesting read nonetheless.
The most important 4x feature is tons and tons of units, buildings, improvments, techs etc, ALOT. Sins isn't very 4x in this area.
I strongly disagree that this the "most important" feature in 4X games. A large number of units, buildings, technolgies, etc. is worthless unless they're not only meaningful, but balanced as well. I've seen too many games that have exactly those things, only to discover that some things are overpowered while other stuff isn't even worth

Thus far, Stardock's been unable to get a publishing/distributing deal over in Europe. Most of the publishers there believe Europeans won't play space strategy games, and so no one will pick it up. :(

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys. I appreciate it. :D
I like Medieval Total War 2. However it is more historic rather then fantasy, but a great turn based strategy game IMO. Besides, who does not like seeing a large group of spear man getting smashed with a oil covered flaming boulder.
Thanks, but I've already got the original MTW, which is far superior. ;)
