I have had a number of crashes when I tried updating ship designs. It lets me name it, lets me add any extra info, asks me if I do indeed want to upgrade the design and then crashes. Not quite repeatable but fairly common. Here's the debug.err and smartexception. Here's my first feedback on the New Tech screen. Firstly it is very confusing. The left hand side clearly splits the techs into categories and this works well. What's confusing is the right hand side, where the techs seem to be all jumbled together with no clear order or reason for placement. Some techs can be selected for research, some can't. No understanding as to which or why. - There needs to be better highlighting as to researchable techs, alread
You need to update the NVidia drivers to the latest (March 11th 2005) for directx 9.0c to work properly. Paul.
I wonder have ATI upgraded their drivers for directx 9.0c yet? Worth checking the date of the latest driver against the date of directx 9.0c Paul
I've discovered that NVIDIA cards need to download the latest driver (march 11th 2005) to work with Directx 9.0c. I have updated last month so didn't realise a new update was out! Without the latest driver the graphics do strange things and crash to desktop. I suggest that anyone with crashes or graphics problems checks for new graphics drivers, Paul.
Problem solved. NVIDIA have released a new set of driver updates for Directx9.c These need to be downloaded and installed from the nvidia.com website for these cards to work properly. I have done so and all the problems I was having with flickering "next" buttons, non appearing left right arrows and CTD on map generation have all dissapeared. Paul.
I'm having the exact same problem. CTD when I click the final next to generate the galaxy. Does not matter which races or settings I choose happens every time. You'll need to email stardock with clear instructions on what you want. They should be able to do that for you, Paul.
There may possibly be a time lag between registering the GC2 serial and the game appearing???? Try loading up stardock central an honur or so later. Paul.
I wouldn't allow the player to tax them at all. There needs to be some disadvantage to them. Yes you lose the tax income, but you can gain it back in trade income. Paul.
Good Idea. If all goes well it would be awesome if the final version of the Encyclopedia gets included with the shipped game or at least linked to when people have furtehr queries. Paul.
goveror. Having to build ships and ensure every planet has enough in orbit and then update them as the game progresses is a chore at the moment. Paul.
a satellite state with a couple of your planets in the corner of the map. You lose their income and the ability to construct on them, but in return you get new trading partners and don't need to spend time on those planets. Paul.
ng ships. Paul.
n GC1 where technologyies fell into certain categories. If you have a read of the development forum you'll see that Cari has posted some pictures of the CG2 research window and it definitely falls into categories. Paul.
ets will be present to stop the map becoming over cluttered with gas giants. Remember that with CG2 each planet takes up it's own square. Paul.
for randomness. Paul.
different planet may actaully be different sizes. This would equate to different sizes on the galatic map and also to different numbers of tiles, Paul.
tually this is unlikely to be needed as the first beta is likely to be not much fun at all. The first few steps of the GC1 beta were also not fun, with lots of bugs. So don't book the holiday off until a later beta stage! Paul.
we will actually have different planet sizes with different number of total tiles (eg 10x12, 8x10, 6x8, 4x6)? If so this would be truely awesome! Paul.
On the 24th load up the stardock central program, look under games, make sure you have the beta box ticked and Galciv 2 should appear. Install it and start beta testing! Paul.
