and I have stardock central subscription since the days of galactic civilization 1 which is definitely up to date? Subscriptions last for a year (or was it 18 months?). After that you need to resubscribe. If you only bought and subscribed with the original CG1 then you will be able to download updates to CG1

BigrobG, as peace phoenix said, that sounds like an old video driver problem. You need to download the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com. When you post in future you should cut and paste the debug.err file from the galciv2 directory. This not only contains all the system specs but details of what the game was doing at the time. Downloading and running smart exception from Stardock Central also creates a second file (a .CRA file in the smartexception directory

Whenever you get a crash you should email the debug.err from your Galciv folder and the .CRA file from the Smart Exception folder (download it from StarDock Central) to [email protected] along with any information about what you were doing at the time. Crashes that you can repeat or clearly identify what caused it are especially useful. Paul.

I also had a fluke win under the same conditions. I colonised a class 18 planet in the drengin home world and within 10 turns I had won. Probably a good thing that the latest beta has turned this off for the moment Paul.

Yes. It's shaping up to have a lot more potential than CG1 and that was good fun. Still a huge amount of work to do, especially when the game balancing and fun aspects kick in, but all the elements are there and the potential for a great game is already shining through. New beta today (1st April) is much more stable than last beta. Here are my general comments, - minimap is still not being updated unti lyou click on it - warning icons on left of screen don't die out. This causes problems with them overflowing when there are too many which then causes no icons to appear at all (or maybe they appear off the screen?). Gherado, Cari has posted on this. The ship is in orbit but the orbit icons are not appearing. Just click each empty orbit bos and then click launch! It's probably int he top right one. Paul.

4.A monthly tribute This is so open to abuse though and is the very thing that would make a puppet rebel. It's such an antiquated concepts as well. Trade is the key. Further comments: - the minimap does not update with autopilot lines turned on. This screen is looking good. Couple of further changes required though. I'd add - The bonus tiles (ones with small icons) need to be described as more than just 'bonus: 7%'. The type of bonus needs to be added. Easy, Add a colony pod looking structural component so that 5 of those pods on the starting colony ship are just 'bling' This should be done for all components so that users can create a cool looking ship with 'bling' matching real components. Some stars when clicked on list the wrong number of planets and habitable planets - this is probably because the rest of the planets are still outside your explored zone. once you reveal the whole system then all the planets are correctly listed. Paul.

Here's my initial feedback on the ship design screens. First the spaceport. I like this screen a lot. Nice and easy to use. It could do with the ability to shift to the next planet though and obviously for the orbital slots to work. Second the Shipyard. This screen is fairly redundant.
