The hardware requirements are a symptom, not the cause. The cause is that people are stupid and/or lazy. If they had the IQ to find out what the best price/performance computerparts are (which is very easy, just go to your local hardwaresite and see what the sites staff recommends) and either learned to puzzle the computerparts together or asked someone that know how to do it then they will get monsterperformance cheap! Somebody said that the hardcore gamers bild their own rigs <-- duh!
Good news to me, Demigod looks interesting.Do you think you Stardock guys could have a word with GPG about system requirements? Supreme Commander needs a quad-core to run a whole game smoothly with 8 players, and that isn't really an acceptable requirement for 2008, it certainly wasn't for 2007, and it'll still be cutting the game off from a fair chunk of the market in 2009.
Well, don't play 8-player games then....A E8400 is dirtcheap and overclocks superbly. 4GBs of DDR

I NEVER saw this coming! Since Gas Powered Games is a AAA developer I never thought they would team up with little Stardock. Well, I'm impressed. Really impressed! With Stardock publishing something mainsteam with good potential as Demigod you will now probably get as much mediaexposure as EA gets. Feels like Stardock is aiming for the top and so far it goes up.
Just take your time and design it right. Eventhough we all want it tomorrow we will all wait for the design to be right (oh god this sounds cliche....) He said that they hope to announce it in spring. Since summer starts in June it means the possible announcement will be at May 31 at the latest :D
So what does his book with the kangaroos in court and stuff mean?
I say the same about GalCiv 2.

You can't "say the same" without saying more. The quote chunk you include talks about both GC2 and Sins. I have no sure idea whether you dislike one, the other, or both games. I can guess you don't much like either of them because you say "too little micromangement" about Sins, but if that's seriously your take, I'd rather you'd started a series of threads long ago. I have a pretty serious set of conflicts between my interest in detai
Heh, I didn't know they could do that :) Guess they grew tired of his dumb cases.
To be honest, I didn't think it was that good, GalCiv2 is by far the better game, it's only downfall it not having multiplayer. If i'd been able to play the demo first, I wouldn't have bought Sins. Obviously, this is just my opinion and will no doubt vary from everyone else.
I say the same about GalCiv 2. If I had only tried it a bit I wouldn't have bought it. note: I'm not gonna get Sins either since it's to little micromanagement in it.
Great! 9.0 which means editors choice is a great score and the four good symbols help as well. Actually there shouldn't be any bad points since you can indirectly decide how long a game will last by limiting the number of planets and mapsize. Bit nitpicky of'em....but the second bad point is a great things since addictive games all make you neglect sleep (and/or some other things :p)
This friggin number hysteria needs to END! (Though it's good if the reviewers are professionals). The issue that some reviewers see 5/10 as average and some see 7/10 as average is a BIG problem for metacritic which averages the scores of all publications and will then get faulty averages! The biggest problem though is peoples obsession with these damn numbers....
i don't think you can rely on 1 store rep for an accurate representation. you didn't say one way or the other, but--did you get the indication this guy even was a gamer? i also think it's a rather sexist stereotype that women are less likely to pirate software than men. all the women i know are just as likely to pirate data as men, be it media or software.i also don't think you're likely to get an unbiased perspective by going to a torrent site to ask if people are pirating data.personall
I don't know about Crysis, but I was in a new gamestore the other day and talked to the guy behind the counter. Think hes 30 or so. I asked him which system sells the most games and which sells the least and my fears were confirmed. PC sells least games because it's so easy to pirate compared to consoles. To prove it, he said that The Sims and its expansions sells really good on PC(!) since the target group (women) generally don't pirate which I have to agree with. he also said that the
This is good :) I'll start with the colored images. We can clearly see a Nightmare (Demonic horse), bald human with a onehand axe and a book? with another humanoid (looks female) on a slender creatre that looks like a thinner, longer version of a Swedish Ren. We can also see a landscape lowest down. The pencil sketches are more interesting though. Here we see a humanoid priest/druid (bets on priest though), a few dragon sketches, a swordsman and a monk? Three interes
Dominions 2 was a failure in my eyes. Sure I only played the demo but that was all I needed.... When I entered the game and had created my God/Avatar/Wizard/Hero/whatever I had to click on menus and stuff and I didn't understand anything.... The games forum on the developer site (Swedish as I am :CONGRAT:) had a thread from the devs about how you play the game....and it wasn't a small post either.... If I start a game and I can't immedietly start playing then the gam
As my computer is too bad to play not only SupCom but alot of the other titles as well I voted for Dark Avatar. Perhaps people don't know about it but if it comes 2nd, people will surely check it up.
This is great. Getting your game listed on those two lists will surely spark some interest among people.
What?! Don't you build your own PCs Brad?! I'd say that computers are just as slow as ever compared to the games that are available. In 1993 when DOOM was released, it required a 33MHz CPU and the best available was only the next model! (The 66MHz). Today, Crysis on 1920x1200 with everything maxed (I think) on a 8800GT only gets [link="http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3151&p=6"]WWW Link[/link] on the latest co
I tried Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and the controls were useless....The crosshair didn't move fluently. In fact, I think it stuttered terribly. The gameplay of Call and Duty and Far Cry are great though. Oh...saw now that this is in the Xbox section....you play shooters on a handcontrol voluntariyly ??
Continue to make expansions aslong as you profit of'em. And I'm not interested at all in GalCiv.
The worst thing now is that PC gamesales are declining ! And a large part of that reason is because people are too dumb to understand system requirements, can't build a computer (Get someone to do it for you then!!!) and are computer illiterate.... Videocard drivers ? What's that? So instead of advan
Stanley Tarrant I've done so before, perhaps even twice. Doing it again would feel as whining and sounding like a broken record. But sure: There's no room for playerskill like in Heroes of Might & Magic and Age of Wonders. I like to micromanage stuff to make units be worth much money then I payed for them. Like in RTS games where if I harass with a unit I can perhaps kill some workerunits, slow his expansion and/or tech development and also divert his attention. That way
Oh man, I thought you were developing that MoM 2 type game and then I found out you're doing another GalCvi 2 expansion....Uuuuuuhh! ....Atleast this means you're finally done with the GalCiv serives for atleast 10 years.
You did the right thing Tova7 . Kids don't know what's best for them (and some adults too) and therefore someone need to control them. Reminds me a bit of my own time as a kid....My mum never sent to me to any sports....she did complain sometimes that I played too much but she was the one that agreed to buy me my NES in the first hand. If someone had talked to me and argumented good (mum can't do that) why sports are good then perhaps things would have been a bit different....
He say in the interview that you can say it's one part Master of Magic, one part populus and one part X-Com. I haven't played neither populus nor X-Com but Master of Magic and Age of Wonders are good. I fear that the game will be too abstract in that skill will not matter much. F.e I really like that in KotoR I can run around and move rangeattacking characters out of harms way while other are shooting and using Force powers on them. Playerskill (Yeah, I like RTS and FPS).
