I've always pictured summer as June-July-August but since every season is supposed to be four months it has to be April-May-June-July while autumn is August-September-Oktober-November (unless you think autumn reaches into January(!) then summer can't possibly include September) That's how it works in Sweden at least :) About not-MoM, it would be nice to know if they've made all the designdecisions or if they're currently struggling to decide how some important gameplay element

Just because you liked SoaSE doesn't mean you'll like 4x games. Try a demo first (especially of the Civ games which I couldn't stand. Found them boring) I can recommend the [link="http://ageofwonders.com/"]Age of Wonders[/link] and HoMM series. There is Disciples and Warlords as well but those two are so limited and Warlords don't got any tactical combat like the other three series do.
That sounds like a simple surge protector, not a UPS.
Aaah that's it. Thanks :)
One guy on a forum said that his UPS (the white thing that all the cables are connected to I think) cleaned the electricity so his speakers weren't buzzing anymore. Can that be true? I'm thinking of buying one then.
I'm impressed. I didn't think that the graphical quality could increase so much in 4 lousy years. Is that all shaders btw? It makes me feel a bit of deja-vu though...I could never run DoW on max in 1280x1024 with fluent gameplay so I wonder if DoW II at max is gonna be the same story....must overclock then :) Hey Brad! I didn't see Not-MoM on E3 (or Stardock at all for that matter...)
Wanting a consolegame with all its limitations on the PC is quite fantastic to read. I thought everybody hated ports.
Got a powerful enough PSU?
thelifealchemist18: That's funny, I'm playing both WarCraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal and Worms Armageddon and they work great. Only problem is that the result screen in WarCraft 2 gets a little blocky purple (but you still see everything). In Worms Armageddon the entire screen is "blocky purple" but a minimize and restore and it's perfect.
Something like this will only succeed if the lissabon thingy is ratified since all the individual countries have their own laws. It's good that they want to stop piracy, but will it affect encrypted traffic like uTorrent? Will it capture the veterans or just casuals?
Everything launched past the 9600GT has been crap as far as price/performance. A 512 8800GTS is still $150 in the States. I agree 100%. I'm still using my 8800gtx 768mb card and I have no plans on upgrading anytime soon. I just don't see it worth buying any of the 9 series cards or the new 280 series. To little performance boost for way to much money. Of course I've used Nvidia cards all my life and I can't see myself using anything but Nvidia. We'll see /shrug.
I
Not surprising. So many old people online these days that don't know how to operate a computer. Perhaps some grandchild have told them to decativate the automatic updates. Strange though....
(Vista)64bit is the future. Brad himself recommends it. In 32bit Windows, any process can only use 2GB of RAM. If it goes over that border then the program hangs. Stardock had to deallocate memory in Dark Avatar since the game ran out of memory and thereby crashed. You may wonder why more resourceintensive games don't crash. They are programmed to take RAM from the videocard instead. That's a workaround which drives up the graphiccard system req a bit. The solution is
That's good. In with the new and out with the old. It's the way technology works. But you can be comfortable in the fact that PCI-E will last for quite a long time. I expect a successor to arrive at earliest 2015 since technology Sure it's a bit annoying and troublesome with selling of your old computer but 1 post on your local hardwareforum, ebay, tradera and blocket will suffice.
Check out the CnC3 forums to get a feel for what EA does to games with a hardcore following.Game released in Beta, bug ridden.Slow & poor patching.Poor balancing.Ignored cannon from earlier installments. No forum search.Few players on online due to bugs, desyncs and disconnectors.Developing the expansion killed the main game. Then the expansion has been killed from the start as the dev team allocate resources to RA3 instead of supporting the product.A potentially great game let down. First thought I gotted when read your post was something like: "....is this guy for real...? Normal people don't want to do so much. They just want to insert the disc and play". In the future however, it's possible there'll be a market for those kind of modelling games. For now, Stardocks fantasy strategy game which they claim to be extremely modfriendly may be a milestone in it. I'm also quite negative to it since the community would be SO split since everybody would be play
Seems to be some bitter, old people here who can't handle action and want everything to be turnbased....Lucky for me it's a fastpaced future :) You can quote & sig me on this as much as you want, but my opinion is that Blizzard is the masters of gamedesign. They're the best gamedevelopers I've ever seen and all their games since Diablo have superb quality. And about this "Diablo is not a real RPG!!!" bull that the slowheads* keep screaming.... Baldurs Gate is an RPG of
It was Atari that owned the MoM IP last Stardock offered to buy it. Can't understand why they wouldn't sell it or why they can't go broke and auctioneer out their IPs! They got so many fantastic IPs in their basement that it annoys me just thinking about it.... Surely Stardock keeps track of Atari and hope for their demise quickly before the fantasy 4x game gets too done.
And here I thought that Impulse was just a nicer looking version of Stardock Central with a slew of new features....Well this was bigger then i could imagine. Got this feeling that some time from now, people will look back to around this time when digital distribution really picked up the pace and see that Impulse was the main component. ps. I didn't think that Demigod would be released before not-MoM though....
Then something good came out of it :) Perhaps it is true as they say. Sometime you have to rebuild from scratch.
If ToTA had PBEM and they (reviewsites) would have still given you a minus for multiplayer then they are not to be listened to. But I expect them to critisize games like Battlefield, Quake Wars and TF 2 for now having singleplayer then too. Brad! You need to get on Gamasutra about this so singleplayer games don't get minused for not having multiplayer.
RTS and FPS has always been my primary genres but RPGs got me for now. I do prefer RTS and RPG above FPS though.
MegaVolt I had a retard in my class that just like you said that if he buy a game he can do whatever he wants with it, including making copies to sell.... I really wonder, are you people really sincere in what you're saying? Do you really mean to say that you won't buy games with heavy protection? If you really are "good" like you want us to believe, then buy the original, stuff it away on the shelf and play pirate release. You really become no different the
It cracks me up when I see a Blizzard game described as 'groundbreaking'. Blizzard has never had an original idea in their corporate lives. They specialise in 'borrowing' other people's ideas and polishing them to an incomparable shine. Diablo was just a pretty rogue-like. Wow is just a highly polished knock-off of EQ, which was essentially a graphical DikuMUD. Neither StarCraft nor WarCraft were even slightly innovative. Even the WarCraft cartoon style was filched from WarHammer. The only
Looks really good. Really happy about this :CONGRAT:
