generally, I think, galactic acheivements are only planetary, but galactic wonders (the resaurant, galactic showcase, etc.) work for the entire empire

yeah, that's bizarre and is clearly a glitch of some sort. I usually am forced to go to extreme measures to prevent wars, especially once the Drengin think they can beat me. (and even then it hardly ever works). and that's only on tough, even. on masochistic, I would expect you to be attacked almost constantly is you have even the slightest weakness.
If you can create a powerful enough fleet to defeat the attackers, then it's worth it...otherwise, it can be better to just slow them down with crap ships.
ok, focus on certain things. my econ rating is always in the toilet early on, and my military rating is barely enough to keep them away. I usually need to resort to bribes early on. forget economic benifits, though, go pop growth and maybe diplomacy. the pop growth will do more for econ, and tech trading is mandatory early on (if you have it turned on, of course...because the AIs will do it). make defenders early...cheap, so you can build a ton of
you're pretty right. I don't know if it's impossible, but it certainly is fantastically difficult. My suggestion (what I did) is just lose, get over it, and play the alternate mission. it's not a walk in the park, but it is one compared to the mission against the dread lords. it gets you to the same place. the first 5 (I think) missions all have alternates that get you to the same place and can be played, and are easier. If you like m
Please, kind poster, do remember that this is an oline forum. These vestiges of internet culture are not known for harboring individuals who give great attention to spelling. I've found a veritable melange of mistakes myself, but gnore these; I've realized that the content is far more important. Thus, my dear grammer devotee, do digress, and distance yourself from this disagreement. I'm certain your English projects are rife with impeccable grammer
I've had a couple of crashes, but i've had many more with gamse with starwars battlefront. It's an amazing game, and with this many people playing the updates are being thoroughly beaten up. The betas are working great, and the few bugs are being fixed. I would suggest this game to anyone who has ever played any computer games. I loved galciv, and this galciv 2 adds every component I wanted to see. Not buying it would be the mistake.
I've had a bit of trouble with registration to the Metaverse, also. I think i just tried it at a heavy time, though. I must agree that cursing on these forums is not appreciated, although as a girl in my human rights class said on day one "sometimes, you just gotta roll like that." As far as the modding goes, just open everything in notepad and follow their lead. Most of the times you don't even need to write tags, just figure out what
alright, thanks guys. to clear up a few things. I'm on the second to last mission. I managed to beat the first 8 or 9 with no help/cheats, etc. I don't only want this to help beat the campaign, I also just like modding. And I have tried everything you guys have said (minus the scorched earth policy and leaving my planets undefended). Especially with the increase in tech, I can womp the DL usually, after a bit of gameplay. I
I owned galciv, and I have had this game since it came out. I can rock out and obliterate my opponents in a large galaxy against everyone with fair amount of ease. I never have played less then challegening, and I've moved on from that. I have been playing the campaign, though, and I have a ton of trouble with the dread lords. I have changed everthing I can think of to give myself an advantage (even though it's usually a new game situation given to
by far the most important thing to defeat a culture threat is to get the cultural galactic achievements. I always get the restaurant of eternity, and the galactic showcase (I think that's it). and everything else you can. If you don't have them, then the others, Torians especially, will overwhelm you. Every once in a while I need to flat out buy it, but it's worth it. The result is that once I'm powerful enough (tech trading is where it's at), I on
I rarely use defenses and instead put a few extra engines on my ships so if I'm out powered I can pull back and regroup. what happens when you get into a fleet battle? each side is allowed to shoot, and engine speed does you absolutely no good. without defenses I don't see how you could possible
I am the originator of this post line. I have changed my stance on this issue, though. In my last game, a war tax came up really early. Now, I usually win alliance or tech or influence victorys. actually, I've never won a conquest one. but I always use war as a tool, once I become really powerful. I couldn't afford the 20% tax that got voted on. It changed my entire strategy for playing. Eventually, though, another bill came up that overided th
rush colonization is imperative. I played the original game, and have had this one since the day it came out. My strategy always involves a colonization rush. Until you get the hang of the game, try giving yourself a huge pop growth ability, and when the game starts, buy like 4 colony ships in the first four turns, fill with like 250, 300 colonists, and send them out. I only take planets over 10 in this phase...I grab all quality colonies in range
In the last game (galciv 1), the UP met every year, same as in this version. however, it was based on months, not years, so it met about every 12 turns, now it meets every 52! I jsut finished playing a fairly long game, where I got an influence victory over a large galaxy with 7 opponents on challenging...so yes, it was pretty long, and I only went through about 6 years. Now, that's well over 300 turns, but the UP did almost nothing because it met s
I know I'm supposed to post a debug report and everything, but I didn't even realize this was likely a bug until a few minutes ago. I was playing a game under "challenging." seven opponents on normal, in a large galaxy with a custom race. I restarted the game several times looking for one where I wasn't completely boxed into a corner by other empires. I finally got a playable one, and after playing for nearly an hour realized that noone else had col
I think it might have a damaging affect on this game, however, I used to play reach for the stars. I was delighted when galciv 2 took alot of what I loved about reach for the stars that I missed from galciv 1 and included it, such as ship design. It was turned galciv 2 into almost a hybrid of the two, and has made it probably my all time favorite game. I am always annoyed, though, by having to use the populations of my planets to invade. So perhaps
the vast majority are actual names of real stars. the people who name stars name them for gods, famous people, and, because they're nerds, scifi autthors and stuff like that.
Are these ship designs created with the in game ship designer? I noted somewhere about using object desktop, or something like that, to create ships also. I only ask becasue they are absolutely incredible, and I cannot even fathom how to start doing anything like that. I've just figured out how to keep my ships symetrical. So, yeah, little help to a kid who lacks any artistic talent would be appreciated.
You're right. I never made the association, because I stopped upgrading my ships (I build like woah, and it just never seemed to be economically feasable) I didn't have issue in the original build, but when I upgraded to 1.0X it started. Maybe it'll be fixed for 1.1's official release.
I've refined my strategy through years on galciv one, and now the new game. Do the colony grab and start building up. At the same time make sure to create defenders of some sort. You need something around every single planet as soon as possible. In my opinion the most important thing is to get ahead technologically. For instance in my last game, I had a big tech advantage, but weak ratings in everything else. So my neighbor attacked me. What the
I was an avid player of galciv one, as well as the new sequel. I always maxed out population growth as a racial trait, because I found that at the harder levels it was nearly impossible to compete without it, my population just got left behind. Increasing the population ability allows for a more effective colony snatch at the beginning, which can be a huge advantage. I was excited to see that it wasn't as much as an issue in the sequal, but apparent
