Here is a tiny Drengin orbital defense drone I threw together in about 30 seconds, using Kryo's hull mod. Nothing special but I like it.

BTW, awesome ships all.

I should really read the manual, I've been playing off and on since the game was released in Europe (I'd be on 24/7 if I didn't have a job to do and thesis to finish) and I've been creating ships without realising I could scale the components.... oops.

I'm just a typical engineer, I don't read the manual unless something breaks.

Wow Axel, thats a sweet looking Yamato, ahh the memories of it!, any chance you could upload it to the Library?

I'll see what I can do. I can tell you the thing has so many parts that it takes my vid card a while to even load it up on the ship builder screen. Thanks for the compliment.

Oh does anyone know why when a certain number of objects are used on the hull some disappear? some of my elaborate designs get "broken" because of it, is there a limit to the number of items?

My two cents. I tend to play this as a certain well known warrior race.

Beautiful Klingon Cruisers. I'm inspired to do better. I always liked that style of starship more than any other--except for maybe the Star Wars Empire's Star Destroyer, but everybody seems to love that thing, and its now old hat--with all the Star Wars games out there.

Sounds like you need to patch up... that was fixed quite a while ago.

I was trying to pick out the basic hull and suspecting they're completely buried under parts in a lot of these.

I feel so inadequate. Like some others I was just slapping my components onto the basic hull. My one concession was to try to keep things symmetrical and MAYBE add a part or two. Maybe.

Now that I see what can be done I don't think I'm going to be satisfied with that approach.

It is interesting how it's possible to make really cool looking ship models so easily with their program.

This game is starting to get addictive. And to think that last week I didn't even know about it. Just happened to see it on the shelf in Best Buy and picked it up. Glad I did.

Are these ship designs created with the in game ship designer? I noted somewhere about using object desktop, or something like that, to create ships also. I only ask becasue they are absolutely incredible, and I cannot even fathom how to start doing anything like that. I've just figured out how to keep my ships symetrical. So, yeah, little help to a kid who lacks any artistic talent would be appreciated.

Well, I decided to go ahead and post a few of my ship designs. In mine, I'll try to make use of the new 1.1 Beta rotation and copy/paste tools to nice effect. I'll be using ImageShack for these, so I apologize if the URLs come out funny.

All of these ships are from the Drengin Empire, and so will have some distinctly...Klingon-esque names.

First, there's the Jhud'rkith 2-B, a constructor vessel in my way - a construction tool within a sort of open assembly bay.

Next, there's the KRG-B Hyrg'tran'grar, a high-speed, high capacity troop transport capable of deploying 4 billion troops in its cavernous troop modules.

Up next is the OIG81 Krath'shrag, a remarkably fast colony ship with 1 billion capacity - about mid-to-late game, roughly speaking, for those massive galaxies.
