I guess the planet grabbing part of the game is prety important. So i usually take it very serious and grab about 6-7 planets very fast. But then my taxpayers cannot compansate the colony maintenance cost of the new colonies and my economy comes to an halt while i do nothing but pass the turn and wait for a population increase which is a very painfullly slow process while AI just takes over 10+ world, get the cream of everything, and research crap loads of techs during this time. My colonies don

There is a "Quote" button right on the right side of the post you want to quote. Also you can do this: [ quote ] Put your text here [ /quote ] Note: I put a space between the paranthesis and quote and /quote. You will remove them for it to work.

Nice point. From a mechanical engineering point of view (I put this note here not to be liable for anything and look like a dumbass if a really physicist drops by to this thread ) I may say if we hold conservation of energy with one hand, totally energy of an object travelling at the speed of light is E=m * c^2 where m is the mass of the object and c is the speed of light (in which this case will be mor

You see, the whole point of having projectiles capable of moving faster than light is so that you can actually hit targets that are moving faster than the speed of light. Just before going to sleep, you have pointed an interesting point PaladinStorm. Since you shatter the commendment "Thou shalt not go faster than the light" yourself, you have to

And about the sonic gunazullathingie. Sonic propagation is equal to vibration in a medium. Vibration is created thru force transmission at an interface when the force is not constant and is not linear upto 2nd degree. If u push something very slowly and if you increase the force evenly along time there wont be vibration. Vibration is the way a system tries to settle/come to a stop when it has been introduced instant kinetic energy, like hitting something with a club, shooting with a bu

I dont believe i spent 3 hours reading this stupid thread But here are some stuff i want to add. First of all the tech tree of GC2 is pretty large, but not very sound from scientific points. So it is a kinda free shooting, you can just add or recommend anything you want, say a mechanical hand that b-slaps other ships into embarassing end. But i am an engineer and i would really like to see more s

Heh, as you see i am not inclined to losing ships and production It may be so becoz i am an engineer, but anyway. Any idea if there is a way to build small ships in batches? (more than 1 in one turn if u have the production capability)

Sure, there must be some population on the planet in the end, u r right about it. But it can be taken from all the troop transports in the fleet. An action like loading a troop transport can be introduced, like "how many ppl you want to leave on the planet?" Or we can make the troops disembark to the surface but can leave 1 million ppl on board. (i do it, when i run around my troop carriers, collecting soldiers. I only put 1 million person when i launch it from the starport that constru

I am trying to find out how these things work. As far as i have been able to figure out only one of the transport ships gets destroyed/dismantled after the invasion, and the guys in that ship populize the planet. My question is why only one and only one ship is used up, not all, or none at all? Becoz this led me to build up tiny ships that has triple thrusters and one troop pod underneath, so that i can evade the loss of a transport ship as much as i can. But i would really like that ship n

I was selling the extra farms to drop the population caps, but there are some instances there is only one farm, but it is on a 300 percent bonus square. If i sell it, population goes down too much, if i dont, there is unrest. Is there a way to cap the population at a specific point? PS: I did not construct my flesh harvesting fleet yet, when i have it, usually high population is not a problem. Thanks for the reply. It really answers my question. I will need to revise my strategy now, i was usually after making an economic capital with very high population, and the land used for economy boosting structures mostly. Now i will have to play more balanced. I am off to play testing now

Thanks for your reply. What i meant actually was that i never have enough money to be able to fully increase the research funding to its maximum, even though i am making about 4000 bc per turn total. I guess it means that i invested in science buildings soo much, using them at full capacity just breaks my economy. I am still new to the game, so i am trying to decide the balance betweeen farms, marketplaces and labs. Thanks again <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Laugh.gif

I am constructing a stellar empire with 700 billion ppl living, nearly all tech tree researched, lotsa colonies with balanced structures usually (aside from those which are specific capitals). I have 2 entertainment based buildings at each planet unless if the planet is very small. Everything is going smooth, i am making crap loads of money, making really high research. At this point i have two problems: 1- Approval rating begans to plummet down. I keep lowering tax, until i have about
