Beta 4D bugs

Beta 4D bugs

1) at 4x AA, the game stutters a lot and the framerate drops like crazy... not unplayable but very annoying.

2) In the research screen, in the now researching part, the box outlining the research being done has 2 boxes... 1 long and one short, ending right after the tech name, about 2/3 of the long bar.

3) Dunno if something was changed on the approval rate... was having an approval rate of around 75% when I saved my game in 4C. When I loaded said game in BEta 4D, my approval dropped at 7%!!

4) Still can't load large savefiles... it crashes if I try.

5) Got an "effective through year 2232, string not found" in the United Planets tab

6) When clicking on an object to remove it in the upgrade screen, It just won't remove it.

You have some great things and nice additions in there...keep up the nice work!

I'm at war with the Iconians and Yor. After invading a Yor planet successfully, I find that there's still a trade route active between that planet and an Iconian planet. By "still active" I mean that the line on the map showing the trade route is still there, and mini-freighters are still moving on it. The fact that I took over the planet should have terminated the route.

I think someone already pointed out that researching the "Subspace Rebounder" does not make any new defensive module available. I just found it's the same story with the Arnorian Armor. If it's supposed to be another armor module that you can add to your ships, it's not there.

Minor Bug:
When I have only met oneminor civ and i try to switch between them on the diplomacy screern (using the little arrows near the civ's flag,) the game freezes for a few seconds, then crashes to the desktop.

On a planet I have successfully invaded, if I select a tile with an existing project on it, the "Available Projects" list shows all available projects, not just the upgrades for the project I've selected. For example, I've selected an Entertainment Center, and it appears that I can "upgrade" it to Diplomatic Translators.

Not a bug. Starting with 4D, it is supposed to work this way. You get some headstart on construction also, compared to building on a blank tile.

I, for one, would find it helpful if the research screen would show what starbase modules are made available by a tech, in addition to the improvements and future techs.

I second that motion.

If I click on one of my planets that has ships in orbit, and then I click on an uncolonized planet, it shows ships in orbit (same ships as on my planet). If I select those ships, instead of the Launch button, there's the Speak To button, but it doesn't do anything.

Clicking on empty space does not cure the problem. If I click in space and then go back to the uncolonized planet, it still displays my ships in orbit. The only way to show nothing in orbit is to select one of my planets that doesn't have anything orbiting. At that point, the uncolonized planet will display no orbiting ships.

Here's a possible clarification to the post I made earlier about trade routes not disappearing when a planet is invaded.

The trade route that did not disappear was an Iconian route from an Iconain planet to a Yor planet. When I invaded the Yor planet the trade route stayed active as I reported earlier. I do have a saved game in case someone needs it to debug this.

When I invaded the last Yor planet, there was a Yor trade route from that planet to an Iconian planet. This trade route DID disappear. It could be that the trade routes stay active if the planet invaded is the target of the trade route rather than its source. Or it could be that the Yor trade route disappeared because at that point I'd wiped out the Yor

Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't noticed that it worked the same way on my own colonies.

However, the build times still seem to be off. For instance, if I want to replace a research center with an extreme stadium, it tells me it'll be 5 weeks, but once I hit "Build" to add it to the build queue, it says it'll be 26 weeks.

End game summaries still have some bad numbers. On the Technology summary, all civs have 0 "Techs Discovered". I suspect that the "Most Time Intensive Tech" is the tech that took the most time to research since the last game load, not since the start of the game. The Military summary shows 0 ships enemy ships destroyed and 0 personal ships destroyed for all civs. The Society summary page shows a 0 score for all civs, even though the overall summary page shows the real, non-zero, scores.

The Society summary page shows a 0 score for all civs

I never read the Society Page.

bug or feature?

The Carinoids minor race had transports in orbit with a defense of 1 listed in each category type, but all zeroes for weapons. Is this some kind of "in orbit" bonus that I'm seeing? They also had some freighters in orbit that had zeroes across the board for attack and defense. Why waste space on a cargo hull with defenses at all, but worse, have defense and no offense?!?

bug:

It appears that ALL minor races who are in the game AT THE START ONLY, have 2 Starports and 2 Civilization Capital improvements on their homeworld. This should never happen. This is not the case for minor races who emerge mid-game (I'm fairly certain of this, but not 100%).

This is a big deal for a few reasons:
1) A Civ Capital gives food production of 15 mt/wk. With two of these, a minor homeworld can support 30Bil pop and gets a TON of manufacturing points.
2) If you capture a minor homeworld, you cannot decommission either of the Civ Capital improvements.
3) Having 2 Starports gives no extra benefit, and uses up a tile that the minor civ could have used for something useful.

bug:
I have NOT made any alignment choice yet, but the NEUTRAL SHIPPING tech shows up as selectable on the left side of the tech screen once I research TRADE, but it does not show up in the tech tree on the right side.

minor bug:
When I got the message "UP is meeting next week" the indication on the UP Relations screen still showed up as "weeks until next coundil meeting: 44 ". The UP meeting was indeed held in the next week.

bug:
I'm still able to play with 10 opponents (just as reported for 4B or 4C) by selecting 9 opponents, then clicking on the last unused opponent en pressing ENABLE... The list of opponents stays at "Nine (9)".

I tried this on a small map, to see if everything worked OK. When I finally contacted the 10th opponent, the RELATIONS tab on the Foregn Policy menu showed the 10th race correctly (with a scrollbar) The UNITEP PLANETS tab races list already came with a scrollbar to show all 11 races before I contacted the last one. However, the TREATIES tab could not handle the addition of the 10th opponent, it now has my icon (race ZZZ, lookalike terrans) apparently in the upper left corner. I cannot clearly see it, but both a trade and a war link correctly lead to it. I have a screenprint that shows this, and a save file from 2 turns before, sent to gc2bugs... When I CTRL-ALT-DELed out of the game at this point (I had started in fullscreen mode), the game unfortunately crashed...

The text for the stardate in the top right corner is shiftered to the right of the intended background.

bug:

The game will crash to the desktop if you click anywhere in the Foreign Relations, Report, or Minor Nations screen when you start a new game and have not met any other civ's yet. I've tried this on three different new games, happens everytime.

bug:

In Civ Manager under Stats and Graphs, Economy section where it lists economic stats, at the bottom just above the field for "total expenses" is a blank field which lists 1399876 bc/week.

bug:

Rewards from anomalies do not always seem to be granted. One example: I sent my ship to scan a debris field and received a 1% bonus to my soldiering, which was recorded in the racial bonus screen. However, the next debris field gave be the same bonus, but it was not listed in the racial bonus screen. Perhaps this bonus in not meant to be cumulative?

feature request:

I wish you could double-click to load up a game. I'm too lazy to move the mouse down to the load button.

Have you waited one turn to pass to see if it is still missing?

- when building nothing (nothing in starport and nothing in the queue), no money is spend on military but money is still spend on social.

I have checked the user manual draft 2 page 29 and it is definitely a bug.

Just played a game and got a few things:

After a successful invasion by the Drath, the dialog text that pops up afterward had a "String not found" text in it.

In the Stats & Graph tab, the population tab for top players gives 0M population for the other race. Also, I can't scroll to be able to see the other graphs to the right.

Last, and not least, I traded some tech with the Arcean. Traded Space marines for Stinger IV. Made the trade and wanted to design a ship with those. I proceed to the shipyard and didn't find the stinger IV. I thought I did something wrong and went back to the trade screen. Sure enough, no space marines on my side and no Stinger IV on theirs. I then decided to check the research tab... The Stinger IV tech was indeed available and researched....

Let's say that happened at a very unfortunate time

The minor races act quirky on tiny maps.

1) The fundamentalists pop up, taking my best research planet with them. I can't retake the planet, because it's not there on the map anymore, though it still shows on the minimap. I hit every sqare, nothing stops me from going anywhere. Finally, one of the AI races invades and it becomes visible. Also note that the loss of the planet wasn't visible the turn of the event. I looked around and all my planets were still there (both on tactical and minimap).

2) the I-League shows up. They don't take any of my planets. They dont' take any of the Yor planets. We're in communication with each other, so I go to the trade window, and it doesn't list a single planet for them. A few turns later, they turn up on a new or previously uninhabitable world.
