Beta 4D bugs

Beta 4D bugs

1) at 4x AA, the game stutters a lot and the framerate drops like crazy... not unplayable but very annoying.

2) In the research screen, in the now researching part, the box outlining the research being done has 2 boxes... 1 long and one short, ending right after the tech name, about 2/3 of the long bar.

3) Dunno if something was changed on the approval rate... was having an approval rate of around 75% when I saved my game in 4C. When I loaded said game in BEta 4D, my approval dropped at 7%!!

4) Still can't load large savefiles... it crashes if I try.

5) Got an "effective through year 2232, string not found" in the United Planets tab

6) When clicking on an object to remove it in the upgrade screen, It just won't remove it.

You have some great things and nice additions in there...keep up the nice work!

bug or feature:

In the late game, when I am committing genocide on the minor races at a rate of 1 race every 5 turns (simply because my ships can only travel so fast) new minor races are appearing at almost the same rate! Its just rediculous how many PQ 15 worlds I have now because of all the new minor races causing crap planets to suddenly be PQ 15. Who needs terraforming?!?

NOTE: I am playing on a map set to Habitable Planets: Uncommon, Number of Stars: Common, Numbers of Planets: Common. There were lots of stars with no habitable planets around them.

bug?

"Stock Market" description says: "+10 Morale". Is that right? Shouldn't this be an economy boosting building? The morale boost isn't even very good, considering the time required to build a Stock Market.
ProudCanadian, the bug is that it's only displaying one of the bonuses, the Stock Market provides +15% econ, +10% Morale, and +??% Prestige (Influence, I believe). That's what the XML says, and I've confirmed it by destroying all improvements on a colony to get a baseline then buying a Stock Market.

I'll share bugs I've encountered thus far,

1) Bug - P.I. - Xenofarming 6 mt/wk capped on some planets where it should be 8.

2) Bug - Survey ship/Flagship will stop autosurveying 2 to 3 spaces next to an anamoly.

3) Bug/Error - Planet/Colony management screen - any level of production or research over 100 will cause shields or beakers to overflow out of the box. I see where a big shield represents 10 and little ones are 1. Can solve this by making a unit to represent 100.

4) Typo - Diplo Screen - Arceans. Text was "When it comes to talking to the leader of [YourEmpirename], the pleasure is all ours. "

5) Typo - Planet/Colony Manager - Word on the Street - sorry i didnt write the quote but there was a reference to [LeadergenderHeShe]

6) Bug - UP Resolution - Resolution involved sharing techs and it passed and the agreed amount was 2 during the vote.
I gained 3 techs as a result and then a popup screen saying I'd get none.. joke's on them!!

I just got a CTD after hitting control-N to get a new map. Sent the SmartException report to gc2bugs.

I again noticed an endless stream of minor civilization colony ships, again not concerned with range limits and nearby habitable planets. I then decided to look closer into it. When I found their home star first surprise was that all those ships were neglecting one quality 19 and one quality 18 planet in their (Alexians) own home system. When I checked their home planet second surprise explained their pickyness. The home planet was quality 26. Question: In the next build can we have option to play as Alexians? Please?

Game crashed when I tried to speak to one of theMinor races after meeting them for the first time. next time everything looked OK.

Game crashed when I tried to save the design that I just upgraded.

I see that now planets of 10 and 11 quality can be teraformed. I noticed that some of the planets had two tiles for teraforming although I didn't have any of teraforming technologies researched. But it seems to me that planets with quality 15, 16 and 17 can't be teraformed. Also planet view of these planets looks kinda funny. Planets with other qualities look fine.

I noticed the same thing as Proud Canadian. One of the races surrendered to me without any notification and before I had chance to meet them.

And, did I ever mention that survey ships do not upgrade their weapons and defenses after researching the anomalies that grant those upgrades?

Probably reported before, but - started new game in 4D, when i tried to upgrade a design I had created earlier in the game, CT'D . Last line in Debug.err :
ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\Screens\ShipDesignScreen.cpp at line 2696.

Bug or feature?

Colonies that you conquer are not required to pay maintenance. Planets that you colonize pay 25 maintenance.

The trade route that did not disappear was an Iconian route from an Iconain planet to a Yor planet. When I invaded the Yor planet the trade route stayed active as I reported earlier. I do have a saved game in case someone needs it to debug this.

Yes, I would like a save game. Please send it to [email protected] along with a description of the problem so that I'll be able to tell what I'm looking for.

Is this when you conquer a HOMEWORLD of another race? They have the "Civilization Capital" improvement instead of the "Initial Colony" improvement (which has a 25 maint cost). Can anyone confirm this?

I finally met the Dark Yor. On the Foreign Policy screen they're labelled both Dark Yor and Kwilasians. I sent a screen shot to gc2bugs.

I can't remember seeing mention of the following bug:

If you take a fleet into combat, win the battle, and at least 1 of the ships levels up gaining a hit point to the max. HPs, all of the fleet's movement points regenerate. Thus it is possible, and I've done it, to engage in more battles than you had original movement points for and sweep across an entire front as long as each enemy ship/fleet is no more than your max movement points apart in distance and at least 1 ship gains a HP after every battle.

Yes, Moser, I'd already reported that. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing it.

two significant ones from me - apologies if already reported (not the easiest forum to check :/)

* When I start new games I often get either my old game ships even though I dont have the tech and/or all of teh other races ships. It seems to be linked to editing ship designs?

* Is it an intended feature to betray locations of all races from turnn one by swiching on influence on the mini map? If so I will learn to accept it otherwise it seems to take a bit away from the fun doesnt it?

Shhhhhh! Don't tell them about it! I need all the help I can get!

AI starbases sometimes show on the main map, even when they are outside your current scanner range.

There waw discussion on GC1 about opponent star bases that had been discovered and what should happen if the sb was no longer within the range of one of your scanners. One comment was that once we had discovered a star base, we knew where it was and it should remain marked on our views. This got changed (in GC1) so that they showed up on the tactical view, which was a big help.

I just (for the first time) hit the bug others have reported where the turn button goes away and doesn't come back. I saved the game, then immediately reloaded the saved game and hit a CTD. I sent the exception report to gc2bugs. However, after restarting and reloading the game, I can continue the game.

What caused me to write that was indeed the homeworld of a minor race. I didn't notice/check other planets I had conquered.

my money slider on trading is borked, not noticed it before 4d. I am never now able to sweeten a tech deal with cash, no matter how much money i add. Also the slider seems borked, goes green at around 100 credits then red higher up

am i right that it is NOT safe to upgrade any ships in Beta4D at all due to the window bug (not closing). I have upgraded two ships by being contrary and whilst i managed eventually to get the window to close downb (by opening another ship build instance and fiddling around) i now break the game and crash it when I do this.

When I build a military starbase and add, for instance, the Graviton Snipers (which is supposed to add +2 to mass driver attack to ships within its range of influence), are ships within its range supposed to display a higher attack value when I select them? Or does the increased attack value not display, but only becomes apparent on attack?

I ask because I had ships with 2 mass driver attack, built the Graviton Snipers, and now they still show 2 mass driver attack. Not sure whether that's a bug or working as designed.

Not sure to have seen this reported:
Minors constructor seems to have an ulimited range: In the game I was (8*8 galaxy), I have meet some minors through their constructors. And the funny thing is that when I clicked on the constructor, the minimap show the allowed are for the constructor. And it was clearly outside.

That explains how they grabbed that starbase on the other side of the map in my latest game. Nice catch!

I reported the same/similar thing for Minor colony ships. I noticed that in both 4C and 4D builds. For 0.80 (4E?) I can't say. It crashes the moment I start it.

Once, when I was getting mad at my peoples, I decided to kick the tax rate up to 100%. Of course, my popularity bottomed out and the following turn, one of my planets rebelled and became a minor race. Nice touch

However, after that, when I 'talked' to the leader of this race, I found that he had some 3000 credits. I had been about 500 in the hole when they rebelled. Did they print up some money or something?

Additionally, they had all my as-yet-researched techs. That makes sense, if they rebelled from me. But they did not have my two trade techs, which I was then able to sell them for every credit they had. At this point, I suppose I could have invaded and gotten my planet back, and come out with a 3000ish profit...
