Beta 4D bugs

Beta 4D bugs

1) at 4x AA, the game stutters a lot and the framerate drops like crazy... not unplayable but very annoying.

2) In the research screen, in the now researching part, the box outlining the research being done has 2 boxes... 1 long and one short, ending right after the tech name, about 2/3 of the long bar.

3) Dunno if something was changed on the approval rate... was having an approval rate of around 75% when I saved my game in 4C. When I loaded said game in BEta 4D, my approval dropped at 7%!!

4) Still can't load large savefiles... it crashes if I try.

5) Got an "effective through year 2232, string not found" in the United Planets tab

6) When clicking on an object to remove it in the upgrade screen, It just won't remove it.

You have some great things and nice additions in there...keep up the nice work!

bug:

Immediately following a United Planets council vote, my civilization income (on main screen) was showing as zero. If I opened a few windows, then returned to main screen, it was refreshed back to the correct value. My spending value didn't get messed up, only income.

question:

How the heck to you create a Rally Point?!? I cannot find controls for that anywhere. In GalCiv 1 there was a little button on the main screen, but I can't find anything similar in Beta 4D.

request:

The Planetary Assault combat window shows the total casualties for both sides as soon as you start the battle sequence. It would be nice if it didn't show that until the combat graphics sequence was over. Better yet, if the casualties mounted during the battle sequence, that would be really cool.

PS: I'm loving the troops and tanks combat thing. That's exactly what I hoped to see in the final game!!!

bug:

Somehow, a minor race (Dark Yor in my game) built 2 Starports on their homeworld. After I conquered the planet, I decommissioned one of them. After I did that, the other one didn't allow me to build ships anymore. The workaround was to just decomm the second one also, then build a new Starport. It was all fine after that.

Still, there shouldn't be a way to build 2 Starports, since that is pointless and wastes tiles on the AI planets.

bug or feature?

When I conquered the homeworld of a minor race, I was allowed to keep their Civilization Capital improvement. Should this be allowed? It might make more sense to downgrade that building to a Colony Start improvement after the planet is conquered.

you guys make me laugh!!

The "Vegans" minor race lives on the planet "Dubhe" (doobie?). Those guys were probably stoned all the time, because they were the first minor race to fall. BUMMER!

minor bug:

After I invade a planet using a troop transport (and the battle stuff and all concluded) the game returns to the main screen. It is showing the current ship as "Troop Ship I 293" (my invasion ship) even though it was used up in the invasion. The current ship display should probably be cleared after an invasion, or any other event that uses up the current ship in the process.

old text bug:

"Humans currently represent 23.0 percent of the galactic population..."

I was not playing Humans.

In the "Stats and Graphs" tab of the Civ Manager, if I click on the "Population" bar chart to get the summary over on the right, all alien civs show as 0 population. I'll send a screen shot to gc2bugs.

Proud Canadian: small button on the top of the context area on the left side. So visibly, it would be at the bottom of the visible map near the left.

The "Precursor defenses" event popped up but the text for the neutral and evil responses is cut off so that I can't see the bonus/penalty. I'll send a screenshot to gc2bugs.

The "Boilshire Farms - Flesh Nectar" event popped up, and it exhibits 2 of the problems I've already reported - the neutral choice says I'll lose 50 million people, where I only have 25 million, and the text of the evil choice is cut off so the bonus/penatly isn't readable.

A UPC event came up where after the vote the screen showed how the Yor and Drengins had voted, but not the Drath, Iconians, or Korx. I thought the Beta4D Notes thread had said this problem was fixed. I'll send a screenshot to gc2bugs.

The Fundamentalist Event shouldn't happen early on in the game. I just had them pop up before I had my third colony in a test game I was running for some research, with the Yor as the only other race in the game.

Judging by the population graph, I'd have to say that the Yor homeworld defected to the Fundamentalists. They're not out of the game yet, but they're flatlined on all of the charts.

When I started a game with a custom race today, somthing wierd happened:

I start the game, go to the starport to build a ship and, in my list, I had every design from every race (even minor) in there. They were like: 10Andians* . They had all stats at 0 (except range at 0.1) and took 0 weeks to build. Once built, you couldn't do anything with them. Anyone else got that one happened?

Typos:

- In the description for the influence bonus tile on one of my planets, it says I would get the bonus if I built a "cultural distract" there. While I suppose an Embassy could be argued to be a distraction, I suspect the correct word is "district".

- In the UP vote for the star-faring tax (colonies inside other empires), "permanent" is spelled "perminant".

- In the Pre-Galactic Way of Life random event, there aren't any units on the bonuses (-3 population growth, +5 population growth)

Bugs:

- Two minor races had identical descriptions (except for their names) in my latest game.

- My starport display lists my planet population as "10.95 String no...". I imagine it would finish as "not found", but it gets chopped off.

Other:

Is there a good way to take a screenshot direct to file? As Alt-Tab leaves GC2 just fine, but does not re-enter it for me, taking screenshots is a pain-ridden process.

Thanks man, I'll look for that.

bug:

Trade route limits are not properly displayed on the Trade tab. Except for the game start (when you don't have Trade yet and it shows all routes as Unavailable), it will always show 3 "Open" routes. If you use up a route, it just makes another "Unavailable" route say "Open", so there are always 3 open ones listed. In reality, it will only let you have 4 active routes (when you still only have the basic Trade tech).

My second point: aren't you supposed to have only 3 open trade routes when you discover Trade, and not 4? My race does not have any trade bonuses, so its not that.

When I captured a minor race's homeworld, I got to keep their Technological Capital improvement. Is this right? I think the capture of any race's homeworld should destroy all the "1 per race special project" improvements, such as Tech Capital, Financial Capital, Manu Captial, Homeworld Colony, etc

I have chosen the Good alignment after discovering the tech that lets you pick one (I forget the name). I am still getting the Neutral techs in my Research list, such as "Neutrality Learning Center" and "Neutral Shipping". I am NOT getting access to research any Good projects yet.

bug:

On the Trade tab, if you click on an active trade route to see the details, the Current Value and Max Value are always the same. I don't think Max Value ever works correctly.

bug:

For the second time, I have captured a minor race homeworld and found 2 Starport improvements on it, which should never happen.

interface bug:

When you choose "Time Remaining" as the sort order for techs that you can research, it initially works fine. However, after you complete researching a tech the sort order gets messed up and never refreshes properly. You are forced to change to another sort order, then change back to Time Remaining to force it to refresh properly.

ship upgrade complaint:

I don't like to have to set ship names manually. After you upgrade a bunch of ships from design "Super Fighter" to design "Master Beater", the ships still have their original names like "Super Fighter 245". It would be great if the upgrade forced a new name, just as if it was a new ship, so I get a name like "Master Beater 329". It is really confusing to have an upgraded ship with an obsolete ship name.

Try using gcconfig to play in a window instead of fullscreen.
