Beta 4D bugs

1) at 4x AA, the game stutters a lot and the framerate drops like crazy... not unplayable but very annoying.

2) In the research screen, in the now researching part, the box outlining the research being done has 2 boxes... 1 long and one short, ending right after the tech name, about 2/3 of the long bar.

3) Dunno if something was changed on the approval rate... was having an approval rate of around 75% when I saved my game in 4C. When I loaded said game in BEta 4D, my approval dropped at 7%!!

4) Still can't load large savefiles... it crashes if I try.

5) Got an "effective through year 2232, string not found" in the United Planets tab

6) When clicking on an object to remove it in the upgrade screen, It just won't remove it.

You have some great things and nice additions in there...keep up the nice work!

Try using gcconfig to play in a window instead of fullscreen.


Oddly enough, I found increasing the resolution to my desktop res (1280x1024) now lets me alt-tab back in. Funky. Anyway, I'd still like to be able to take screenshots without having to leave the game.

I also ran into some CTD bugs, and have submitted the SmartException zip, but I figure I'll post them here too

- Random clicking in the Foreign Stats window is a bit dangerous. Only two of the tabs are completely safe. In the other tabs, non-button/empty space holds unseen CTDs. The two safe tabs: Relations and Treaties.

I've researched Stinger IV (thankfully no longer Singer IV), but no Stinger IV shows up in my shipyard.

Sorry if this is a repost: The T key for autopilot isn't activating autoattack, and one time when I went into auto-attack via the info window, the ship freaked out, ran away from the enemy for two squares, then dropped out of autoattack.

I have a fleet with 5 movement points. I move it and attack an enemy ship. As that happens I can see the movement points getting decremented. However, after the attack, the fleet's movement points are reset to 5. I can continue to move and attack time afer time, each attack resetting the movement points to the original 5.

This might be similar to something that ProudCanadian posted earlier - one of the Drengin worlds culture flipped to me, and it did not have a colony tile. I also invaded the Carinoids, and found that their planet had 2 colony tiles as well as 2 starports.

With regard to the fleet movement oddity I reported a couple of posts back, it doesn't always happen. I think it only happens if one or more of the ships in the fleet gains a level after the attack.

bug:

Some planet tiles that are not buildable tiles say the following:
Jungle
No Bonus
Sector Suitable for Building

You cannot build on these tiles, so this text should be changed.

random event bug:

There was a random event that said the Torians discovered a Precursor device on Toria that turned it into a PQ 35 planet. In fact, it only turned it into a PQ 20 planet.

bug:

I have chosen a Good alignment in my current game. I got two Good techs so far in my tech tree:
Subspace Rebounder
Telepathic Defense

Both are supposed to give a new Ship Defense component to me, but the new components never appear in the ship design components list.

bug?

Should the "Xeno Bank Construction" tech be labeled in Green with the "green leaf" icon? I though the green leaf techs were related to biology or ecology or health.

random event bug:

Got an event that the Drengin found a precursor device in the Qeas system that turned up every planet in a 2 sector radius by +10PQ... however, every planet I checked on the map got that bonus, not just that radius.

The shipyard still gets stuck and can't be closed occasionally. Only way out seems to be killing the game.

The game crashes after Alt-Tabbing out and back in.

CPU is an A64 X2, Graphics: Geforce 6800GT w/81.something drivers. Might be an SMP issue?

The "Vegans" minor race lives on the planet "Dubhe" (doobie?).


The "bhe" is a construct is frequently found in Irish and in Irish Dubhe would be pronounced "Dove".

Bug:

The game was autosaving and I just discovered a tech (Space Militarization) at the same time. The game started saving and, all of a sudden, It CTD'ed. That was with a custom race. The file seems to be corrupted since I can't load that game anymore.

Btw, for custom races, not only does it show all ships from all races in the starport but other designs from other games as well (same thing, all stats at 0 and 0 weeks to build).

Here's a really odd problem with fleet movement.

I had a fleet 3 moves away from Drengi, and I clicked on the planet to attack it with that fleet. I had not noticed that there was a minifreighter between my fleet and the planet. The fleet stopped next to the minifreighter (at that point it had 4 move points left) the game appeared to freeze momentarily, then the focus shifted to the next fleet with movepoints. I went back to the fleet I had tried to move - it now shows zero move points, and an autopilot course set for 00-00. I'll send a screen shot to gc2bugs.

It seems like the Find button is not finding some of my fleets that still have move points left. Has anyone else observed that?

On a planet I have successfully invaded, if I select a tile with an existing project on it, the "Available Projects" list shows all available projects, not just the upgrades for the project I've selected. For example, I've selected an Entertainment Center, and it appears that I can "upgrade" it to Diplomatic Translators.

bug or feature? Military and social production doesn't work the same way (repost from https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=94769) :
- when building factory on lighthing bonus, only the military production get the benefit. I have bought a factory on a such title, set 100% spending, split 50/50 between military and social, and put something to build. I got: 22 for military production and 15 social production
- when building nothing (nothing in starport and nothing in the queue), no money is spend on military but money is still spend on social.

The tech "Starbase Fortification Mark III" is labelled "Starsbase" - note the extra "s".

I, for one, would find it helpful if the research screen would show what starbase modules are made available by a tech, in addition to the improvements and future techs.

Bug:
I get the anomaly event that should give +1 to soldier. But the abilities in the civilization manager didn't list a soldering bonus.

After getting the same thing for diplamcy (research xeno communications and seeing nothing), I manage to have the bonus appearing: In the stats and graph tab, I need to clink on somethong other than abilities and then on abilities. It seems that a refresh is missinh when displaying the tab for the first time.

And I have managed to repeat it:
Start a game as Thalan, 100% spending with 100% research. Set research to Xeno communication. Spend turn to get the research. Go then to civilization manager and stats and graph tabs. The diplomacy bonus doesn't appear. Click on economy and then on ability, diplomacy + 5 appear.
And you got the same thing with universal Translator. After you have researched it, the abilities in the civilization manager list only 5. But if you click on economy and then on abiltiies, you will have diplomacy +10.

Bug:
I get the anomaly that should have given me a bonus of 5 in spying. But no spying ability is listed in the civilization manager. But in the following turn, I get a tech that have given me a diplomacy bonus, and the civilization manager did show me the spying bonus.

A colony ship with a range of 0.9 and a speed of 3 is able to go one square further than a colony ship with a range of 0.9 and a speed of 2.
