On the shipyard screen, go to the extra's tab. (I'm talking about hull components not modules)

I can see the human components and the 'Torian' components as normal. Underneath those I see a list of black boxes. Those blacked out images are actually the Drengin style components but you cant see them until you select them and see what appears in the ship model window.

If I add one to my ship the component doesn't show up on the fitted bar below the model screen either, again its blacked out boxes.

It's hard to see what you're doing but it lets you build the ship as normal.

I think the same thing is happening for modules on the stock designs, when I went to modify the Defender I couldn't see any fitted modules.
