Crashes when finishing custom race

Hi there,
I like the new beta2 custom race screen very much but when I finish my custom race with the "done"-button in the lower right the game terminates itself and I'm back to windows without any message.
This seem to happen everytime, I tried it three times.
I have a ATI Radeon card and the latest catalyst driver (the latest I know) "-6_xp-2k_dd_cp_wdm_23864" is installed.

Could you send your debug.err file (should be located in root "galciv2" folder) to Scott@stardock.com.  I havn't seen this before, but that's definatly a large bug.  We'll try and get it fixed ASAP.

New Beta version didn't fix that problem.

From what is known its conected to The German Version of windows XP service pack 2 or somting so that could the problem maybe the best thing to do is to aviod messing up over and over by not trying it again until it is fixed...

One thing that you can try is saving the race before hitting done.

Since it seems to be a prob with the Greman version of WinXP, could you post what characters you're using for your Empire, Leader, and Homeworld Names.  Perhaps there's a fancy German character that's causing problems.

Also, make sure you have the most recient service pack for windows.

I can't believe I didn't try it. You are right. If I save the race before pressing done, everything is fine.
Is it intended to work that way? Wouldn't it be better if the done button is greyed out until the race is saved or to remove the save button and save the race when hitting done?

No, you're supposed to be able to play without saving the race too. I thought that we'd gotten the last of the bugs associated with not saving the custom race.  Can you please tell me what settings you chose so that we can try reproducing it here?

Sorry, I can't. Since I first saved a race, I cannot reproduce the bug. When I select the presaved custom race, edit it, clear it, modify it and hitting done, everything is fine.
But I'm quite sure, before the problem was solved it was not important how the custom race was equiped, with many points used, less point used, no points used... it always crashed.

Hmmm, so maybe it was always just looking for that file and once you saved it, it was happy. Thanks. I'll enter that in the bug database.
