Okay heres how you make it crash. also this issue may show up if you "Get" technology way far out there in the tech tree.
1. create youre custom race
2. when selecting technologys dump EVERYTHING into one path (i did engines in this case and got all the way to hyperdrive 2) then remove everything leafdingup to hyperdrive (impulse drive etc) you'll keep the really nice drive.
3. launch the game. watch it crash.
