There you go again, using common sense and logic!
Hehe, never been accused of that before.
Don't you know that they don't apply to MS?
Sad but true! Unfortunately, the new regime under Satya Nadella has thrown out the common sense and logic rule book.... along with common courtesy and decency, a regard and due respect for customers. One of the sad things is that MS now calls us all 'users' instead of customers, and as such, MS believes it can treat us all like it owns us and our machines... that if we run Win 10, MS can manipulate OUR machines to serve purposes other than our own.
Sure, we can still sende and receive emails; write letters and calculate this and that, but do we really know what's going on under the hood in Win 10? As I discovered when I went to bed one night with Win 8.1 and woke to find Win 10 installed, MS uses Scheduled Maintenance to perform various tasks in the middle of the night, and usually those 'tasks' are something you wouldn't normally agree to.... like having a stable version of Win 8.1 overwritten with this bitch of an OS.
I liked Win 8.1, and my installation was set up just the way I liked it, then MS stuck its nose in and ruined everything. Even my recovery partition was wiped so I couldn't go back to 8.1 on my HP 2-in-1. Yup, MS does pretty much what it wants, with YOUR PC, just because you're running its OS. If only governments of the world would band together and take MS to task over what must be illegal practices.
Another reason MS thinks it can do as it wishes is that the yuppie types who love playing with apps and the like, actually like Win 10. Unlike so many older users who remember the good old days, the yuppie types actually give MS good feedback on Win 10. Yup, they sit there for endless hours playing with apps; never ever actually using a Win32 program; not caring about what's going on under the hood; what personal information they're sending back to MS via those apps... Cortana.
That's why MS gets away with it. The yuppie types are growing in numbers and never complain - so long as their apps are working they don't care - and we, the dinosaurs who do complain, are skrinking in numbers and eventually will all go away.
Sad but true!
