I realise GalCiv2 has been around a long time now and everyone's talking about GalCiv3. I had a thought about engines and ship size. Let us imagine 2 ships in a fight. They both have the same engine. And they both have the same weapon. One ship has huge hull, one ship has a tiny hull. In reality, the tiny ship would inflict far more damage to the huge ship than it received. The tiny ship is smaller and (with equivelent engine) more manoeuvrable thus more difficult to hit. Although the huge ship might eventually win because it only needs one shot on target. In GalCiv2, they would probably both inflict the same damage and the battle boils down to who has the most hit points. Perhaps a manoeuvre modifier would be good. No modifier for medium ships, positive modifier for smaller and negative for bigger. It would mean bigger isn't always top trump and create the need for capital ships to have fighter defense.
Or am I looking too deep?
