Yes, it is indeed pretty awesome to smash down the doors of their supremely-fortified Cydonia base with your team of cigar-chomping, alien-exterminating, hardcore badasses in Flying Suits (take Titan armor, and let it fly all the time 
) packing enough blaster bombs and heavy plasmas to level a small city back on Earth. It is far more gratifying than the final mission for the new one.
