Missing ship template

I have a template for huge ships, aptly named "huge template." I have never actually built one as a ship, it just serves as a platform for all huge ships that actually do get built. I decided to make a few tweaks to it, and ended up redesigning it from the ground up. I saved it using the same name, with the assumption that since it hadn't seen use in any other games, let alone ever built as a ship, there would be no problem. But now in my resent game when I look up huge template in the shipyard, it still has the old one. I tried opening the ship builder from the main menu and selecting the same style being used in that game (Korx, if it matters), and the newer huge template appeared properly there. I opened it up and resaved it as "Huge Template 2." How can I get it to appear in the game now? I'm assuming it will probably show up in future games, but that doesn't help me now.

Marvin's right. Nearly all changes or additions made will not show up in a saved game.

New games only. There are a few exceptions to that rule, but not many.

So can you just not reuse ship names at all if you want to use them in your present game? Or is there some trick to it? I don't enjoy having to increment a number or something when I change tiny things, and I've found the game doesn't actually delete designs that I don't want any more, they pop up again despite not being present in other games.

Yes you can re-use ship names. (The game will tell you that they don't recommend doing it, but it's never caused me any problems.) If you design a ship and name it, "The Best", then later make a small change to it "in game", you can use the same name and the new changes will show up in your current game.

There is an option to delete a ship design while in game using the ship designer, and that ship design will no longer appear in your build menu. You'll still have s shipconfig file in your ships folder, but it will not appear in your build menu while in game.
