It certainly is a fun game,I can't believe I allowed it to sit on a shelf for years without really looking at it until I saw it mentioned here on the forums.
Best of luck getting this game going. Having just been through the process I'll give you some free advice you may do with as you please.
1) Noob game- I think you will find that players coming into such a game will vary greatly in experience and ability levels. I had played no prior mp games and only a handful of games against the computer before entering this one and it showed. Players that even have a few MP games under their belt are going to have a much better idea of the mechanics on how to make a viable Mp pretender God. Also a much better idea on how the flow of a Mp game differs from that against the computer.
2) Diplomacy: Make certain everyone has discussed and understands what a NAP-3(non-aggression pact for three turns) means. Also what agreements actually mean and any consequences are for violating agreements.
3) Map selection- self explanatory but I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a map that is clear and understandable. Floating or wraparound maps can be confusing and distort a players situational awareness.
4) Vanilla vs CBM....... If you are new to the game and have not played using CBM don't make your first Mp game the test case under a different rule system. You will regret it.
Good Luck!
